Sleeping With My Step Daddy
Chapter 85: "The Engagement"

Chapter 85: "The Engagement"

Finally, the day of the engagement arrived.

Yuki looked at Kai with admiration in his eyes as he adjusted the suit jacket carefully.

Yuki (smiling): "Sir Kai, you look so beautiful."

Kai hesitated, glancing down at his outfit.

Kai: "I’ve never worn this kind of suit before..."

Yuki (gently): "They look too good on you, sir."

Just then, the door opened. Bast walked into the room, dressed in a classic black tuxedo that perfectly matched Kai’s elegant look. Yuki bowed and respectfully left the room, giving the couple some privacy.

Bast’s gaze locked on Kai, his eyes softening with affection.

Bast (warmly): "You look so beautiful."

Kai turned around to face him, his eyes glowing.

Kai: "And you... look so handsome today."

Bast didn’t hesitate. He walked up to Kai, wrapped his arms around his waist, and pulled him close.

Bast (grinning): "Should we just skip the engagement and get married today instead? I can’t wait anymore."

Kai chuckled, gently patting Bast’s chest.

Kai: "Nope. Today is our engagement."

Bast (playfully): "Fine... I’ll wait."

Before they could share another quiet moment, a knock came on the door. It opened, and in walked Ethan and Miles—with a little baby boy in Miles’ arms.

Kai’s face lit up instantly.

Kai (smiling): "Miles..."

Miles (smiling wide): "Kai! I missed you."

They quickly hugged each other tight, their bond still strong. Ethan stepped forward with a big grin.

Ethan: "Kai! Long time no see. I’m so happy to see you again."

Kai smiled through teary eyes.

Kai: "I missed you both so much."

Miles: "You both look so gorgeous today. I still can’t believe my best friend is getting engaged!"

Ethan: "So—how are you doing, buddy?"

Bast (grinning proudly): "Doing great."

Just then, a servant entered the room, bowing respectfully.

Servant: "Sir Kai, Mr. Takeshi has called for you and Mr. Vaughn."

Kai nodded, and with that, he and Bast left the room, heading toward the ceremony hall.

---

The engagement ceremony began.

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Ethan and Miles met Mr. Takeshi, who looked proud and full of joy.

Across the room, Reiji’s eyes landed on Miles—and stayed there. Eden, standing beside him, noticed and gave a gentle nudge before leading Reiji over to greet the couple.

Eden (smiling): "Hello, Miles."

Miles (lighting up): "Eden!"

Eden: "Hello, Mr. Ethan."

Ethan (with a polite nod): "Nice to meet you."

Eden turned toward Reiji.

Eden: "And this is Reiji—Kai’s cousin and my boyfriend."

Miles’ eyes widened in surprise.

Miles: "Eden! I didn’t know you had a boyfriend. When did this happen? Why didn’t you tell me?!"

Eden (smirking): "It’s recent."

Miles (smiling): "Well, hello Reiji. I’m Miles—Kai’s best friend and Eden’s too. And this is my husband, Ethan... and our little baby, Mike."

Reiji looked down at the child and his expression softened.

Reiji: "So cute... Baby Mike, how are you?"

Eden leaned over with a smile.

Eden: "Isn’t he adorable?"

Ethan (placing a hand on Miles’ waist): "Just like my wifey."

Miles (blushing): "Ethan! We’re at a function. Let go..."

Ethan (smirking): "Why? We’re married. And we already have a baby."

Miles: "Okay, okay! Enough already..."

Eden chuckled, then gently wrapped an arm around Reiji’s waist.

Eden (whispering): "One day, we’ll be like that too."

Reiji didn’t answer right away. His eyes drifted again to Miles. He couldn’t help but think:

"Eden never told me Miles was gay... and he’s so beautiful. Does Eden... still like him?"

Eden glanced sideways and noticed Reiji zoning out.

Eden (softly): "Reiji, what are you thinking?"

Reiji quickly shook his head, snapping out of it.

Reiji: "Nothing."

Before Eden could press further, the music shifted—and the engagement ceremony officially began.

All the guests turned their attention toward the elegant stage. There stood Kai and Bast, side by side under the soft lights. Their hands gently linked, their eyes full of love. The soft, graceful sound of a piano echoed through the hall, setting the perfect tone.

A servant stepped forward, holding a silver tray with two velvet ring boxes.

The crowd grew silent.

Bast reached for the ring—a beautiful, shining band. He turned to Kai and gently took his hand, slipping the ring onto his finger with a tenderness that made Kai’s eyes shimmer with tears of joy.

Then, with slightly trembling hands, Kai picked up the second ring. His lips trembled with a smile as he slipped it onto Bast’s finger.

The moment felt timeless.

Then—applause.

Warm, thunderous clapping echoed through the hall as the guests stood, celebrating the couple. Laughter and smiles followed, and champagne glasses were raised high.

Mr. Takeshi stepped onto the stage, pride glowing in his expression.

Takeshi (smiling): "Congratulations. I’m truly happy today."

Kai (with heartfelt eyes): "Thanks for everything... Dad."

Takeshi patted his shoulder, his eyes soft with affection.

Ethan and Miles approached next, beaming.

Ethan (to Bast): "Hey, buddy. Finally, you’re officially engaged to your love."

Bast (smiling): "Thanks."

Miles gave Kai a warm hug.

Miles: "You two were glowing up there."

Reiji and Eden followed, offering their congratulations, and soon, one by one, every family member and guest came forward to bless the couple.

Glasses clinked, laughter filled the air, and wine flowed freely. Joy painted every corner of the room.

That day belonged to them.

The day of Kai and Bast.

The beginning of their forever.

The grand engagement celebration that began with laughter and joy ended just the same—with warmth, love, and happiness. The mansion’s hallway glowed softly under the golden chandelier lights as the family gathered for a quiet moment before parting for the night.

Takeshi sat comfortably on a velvet armchair, cradling little Mike in his arms. The baby cooed softly, playing with the buttons on Takeshi’s jacket.

Takeshi (smiling): "He’s so cute."

Miles and Ethan sat beside him, smiling proudly.

Takeshi: "You’re our guests, so don’t even think about staying at a hotel. Stay here at the mansion, like family. I really want to play with this little Mike more."

Ethan (grateful): "Thank you, Mr. Takeshi."

Takeshi (firmly, with a warm tone): "No need to thank me. I said like family, didn’t I?"

Miles chuckled as Ethan stood up, gently picking up baby Mike in his arms.

Across from them, Bast and Kai sat close together, hands still intertwined. Kai’s eyes occasionally drifted to the glimmering ring on his finger, a quiet smile forming on his lips.

Takeshi (to all of them): "Now, you all should rest."

A servant stepped forward and bowed politely.

Servant: "The rooms are ready, sirs."

Ethan: "Alright, Mr. Takeshi. Have a good night."

Takeshi (to baby Mike): "Good night, little Mike baby."

He waved as Miles and Ethan walked away with their child, disappearing down the hall toward their guest suite.

Kai turned to his father.

Kai: "Dad, you should get some rest too. You must be tired."

Takeshi (smiling): "I’m not tired, Kai. I’m happy. That’s more than enough."

Kai smiled warmly.

Takeshi (standing): "Alright then. Good night, my sons."

He gently patted both Kai and Bast’s shoulders before heading to his room.

Kai and Bast strolled together toward their own room. The hallway was silent now, just the soft echo of their footsteps. The glow of the engagement still lingered in the air around them.

Kai looked at the ring on his finger once more, then up at Bast.

Kai (smiling softly): "I’m really happy."

Bast (with a warm smile): "Like I’ve won the whole world."

Kai squeezed his hand gently.

Kai: "Me too."

And with that, they stepped into their room—hearts full, fingers laced, and the future ahead of them shining just as brightly as the rings they wore.

Kai lay down on the bed with a deep sigh, the day’s events finally catching up with his body.

Kai (softly): "Today was such a busy day..."

Bast removed his coat and joined him on the bed, his gaze immediately softening as he looked at Kai.

Bast: "What about a massage?"

Kai (narrowing his eyes with a slight smirk): "Massage? Or... something else?"

Bast chuckled.

Bast: "I just said massage. What are you thinking?"

Kai (leaning over him, playful): "I don’t know... maybe weird things."

Bast (grinning): "You want to do it, don’t you?"

Kai smiled and gave a small, shy nod.

Bast (teasing): "Nope. Not yet. Let me check your back first—I should apply ointment."

Kai (pouting): "The scratch is fine. Don’t worry about it."

Bast sat up, and before he could move further, Kai shifted, climbing into his lap. He settled there, wrapping his arms lazily around Bast’s shoulders.

Kai (in a low, slightly tipsy voice): "Bast..."

Bast (smiling): "Did you drink too much?"

Kai: "Nope. Just four... maybe five glasses."

Bast (chuckling): "I really like it when you’re drunk."

Kai leaned in and kissed Bast’s neck softly.

Kai: "Why?"

Bast (closing his eyes at the touch): "Because when you are... you’re always so horny and hungry for me. And I love that."

Kai placed another kiss, slower this time, just below Bast’s jaw.

Kai (smiling against his skin): "Really...?"

Bast (holding his waist gently): "Kai... being with you now—it feels like the first time all over again."

Kai looked into his eyes, his own gaze filled with heat and longing. Bast cupped his face and pulled him in, kissing him—harder this time. Hungrily. Passionately.

Kai clung to him as though it had been years since they last touched, his fingers tightening on Bast’s shoulders, heart pounding in his chest.

In that moment, they weren’t drunk on wine.

They were drunk on love.
