Chapter 854: 851: Eidolon (Final)

’You want to absorb the energy of the world?’

’Fine.’

’I’ll give you more than what you can chew.’

Corey’s eyes flashed coldly, and then a THRUM shook the world.

His Phantom Plague Axe Heart Intenthowled, and the mana of the world subtly transformed into his intent.

The spiral beam absorbed, and when Corey saw that, his eyes flashed.

Suddenly, faint patches of dark green appeared on the white spiral, making it seem like it was being stained.

Eidolon’s attack weakened, and Corey took a step forward.

He poured more energy into the attack from his three Infinity Crystals, and cracks appeared on his body.

These cracks emitted a dark green, deep blue, and brown light.

Blood gushed from his eyes, from his lips, and from his nose. His left arm trembled, and he felt some of his bones develop cracks.

His Celestial Mana Veins emitted waves of pain across his body, and he could feel the immense strain they were going through.

He almost fell, but one of his Stars of Consciousness manipulated the runes of the wind to hold him upright.

The toll was enormous, and he knew it.

He was releasing about 60% of all the mana he had in him at once, and doing such a thing was extremely dangerous because of how vast his mana reserves were.

He had three complete Infinity Crystals in him, and even some Paragons, not Demi-Paragons, did not have three Infinity Crystals at his current power level.

If he had not unlocked his Celestial Mana Veins and his Void Phoenix Heart, his mana veins would have ruptured and his heart would have burst.

Doing this would have made him a corpse.

But still... his attack surged forward.

Due to the subtle poisoning of Eidolon’s spiral attack through his Phantom Plague Axe Heart Intent, the white spiral weakened, and in the blink of a Tier 0’s eye... The Cosmos Cleave split the spiral.

For a moment, just one moment, Corey’s power overwhelmed the Eye of Oblivion, and it cracked.

The eye ruptured, and a scream erupted from the eye.

The world trembled due to the scream, and Eidolon shook.

The spiral eye tried to reform itself, but Corey raised his hand and a massive fireball made out of Dreamfire appeared above his hand.

He threw the azure-violet-silver fireball at the eye, and a massive shockwave spread out from the clash.

Dreamfire surged around the eye, and the pained screams of Eidolon shook the Dying City. But Corey could see that the white eye was still trying to regenerate itself.

He frowned.

And then he raised his Genesis Armament. Phantom Plague Axe Heart Intent surged around the blades of the massive axe.

He poured out his mana into the axe, but his expression drastically changed and he coughed out a mouthful of blood.

’My mana veins have not yet recovered. It’s still too early, and they’re too weakened to send out an attack.’

Corey’s expression became solemn, and the gears in his mind spun quickly.

A fraction of a second later, his eyes brightened.

He waved his hand, and a massive vibrating black cloud was released from him.

He released the Maledro’s Gu in him but left just one in his Poison Infinity Crystal.

Like sharks smelling blood in water, the Maledro’s Gu perceived the stench of death radiating from the body of Eidolon.

They buzzed and moved, and although the passive aura and energy radiating from the body of Eidolon was powerful, the numbers of the Maledro’s Gu were in the hundreds of thousands.

Barely a thousand Maledro’s Gu survived, but they were enough.

They landed on the white eye, and they devoured.

The spiral eye exploded as blood gushed out of it, and Eidolon’s entire body twisted violently as the Maledro’s Gu entered its body and devoured its insides.

The energy of Cosmos Cleave which had been battling with the energy of the eye was no longer bound but free... It moved into Eidolon’s body.

Cracks split throughout its body, and the runes on its body shattered like glass under a divine hammer. Its limbs flailed, its spines pulsed, and its massive body tried to retreat.

But Cosmos Cleave unleashed its might and wrath on it.

An arc of destruction suddenly shot out from within Eidolon’s chest.

No.

The arc of destruction was not just released from its chest, but it’s soul. From the head to tail, the monster was split in two.

Its scream echoed across the ruined city.

Then it stopped.

All that remained was its corpse, if it could be called that.

The split halves of Eidolon’s body fell in a grotesque heap. One side looked like it was being held by stitches instead of veins and ligaments.

Its eye sockets were empty and it twitched faintly for a few moments before it stopped.

The other half of the corpse was frayed open, and the Maledro’s Gu could be seen devouring this half of the corpse.

In the eyes of an outsider, it would look like the half of Eidolon was being covered by a black cloud.

Corey stood amid the aftermath.

And then... he staggered and blood poured out from his mouth.

After seeing that Eidolon was dead, his gaze finally went to his body. And when he observed the condition of his body, a wry smile could not help but appear on his lips.

His right hand was broken, and his fingers were twisted at unnatural angles. There were cracks which spread along his arm like spiderwebs from his elbow to shoulder.

Unknowingly to him, a hole had been carved through his side. It was clean but deep, making it seem like something sharp had cut him.

’One of my lungs was pierced.’

Corey frowned, and then he tried to recall what could have caused this.

His mind struggled to replay the past few mimutes, and to his surprise, he realized that a tiny beam of white light had escaped from the spiral attack, and this beam had torn through his defenses and body like paper.

A chill along with a wry smile appeared on his lips. ’I was lucky. There was no way I could have defended that attack.’

Corey tried to take in a deep breath, but his breathing came in shallow gasps.

Aside from these injuries, he still had others.

His bones were cracked, and his skin was laced with black burns from exposure to the Oblivion Spiral.

And his Spiritual Sea of Consciousness... it was severely depleted.

He could feel his mental space trembling which released fragments of mental strain that pulsed behind his eyes.

His mental energy had been pushed to its limit.

Yet... he did not fall.

His legs wobbled once again, but they held. He tried to move his body, but his body trembled as waves of pain surged throughout his body.

The pain was enough for an average Tier 6 to fall on their knees, but he remained upright.

His Genesis Armament was beside him on the hexagon platform he had created, and it burned with residual runic light.

He looked around.

At the cracked earth.

At the scorched sky.

At the blood-soaked crater where the Archive had once stood.

And he smiled.

’This was a good fight.’
