Chapter 62: Who Knew Eating Can Be Such An Arousing Sight

I was seated in shock... watching as William took the last of the cookies and ate them. Was this really happening? William ate my hideous cookies like the mere sight didn’t scare him at all. Perhaps Sophia toying with me when she said it looked hideous? I mean it does and yet...

I studied as William used the teaspoon to stir his tea, swiftly bringing it to his lips and what happened next caused a spark to my body, his tongue rolled out and wiped the cream clean. I gulped observing as his tongue took several licks, why was my body suddenly feeling hot? The movement of his tongue was seriously making me feel odd.

So I quickly looked to the side and used my hand to give myself air but it wasn’t helping. The sound of the china teacup made me turn my attention back to him, he was done, the tea finished, and the cookies too.

I gulped.

He shifted the tray back to me and continued watching me and I blushed.

"D-Did you enjoy it?"

"Yes" he answered in a firm tone but I was finding it hard to believe, because he kept a neutral expression all through, even though William always kept a blank expression I knew his taste bud wasn’t as blank as him.

"Okay" I mumbled, not wanting to push it, I grabbed the tray and sat up.

"Thank you, Ava"

I smiled.

"But there is no need to serve me again..."

My smile swiftly vanishes.

"As you said even though I do not need food I can still eat if I want... but I do not want to"

"Oh," I made a sound downheartedly. "T-Then why didn’t you turn me down when I brought you this?"

He leaned back in his seat, eyeing me from head to toe, it almost felt like was undressing me with his eyes. But I knew he was merely just studying me and I needed no mirror to tell me how I look right now. My brown hair in a bun must be messy at every angle and I still wore my apron which I stained with either butter or charcoal, I came here in a hurry to serve William without bothering with my looks.

His eyes darted to my fingers and I gripped the tray tightly, they were each covered in tapes. He said nothing... just bringing his eyes back to my face.

"It’s more of a kind gesture, for if I turned you down you will be sad, am I right?"

That wasn’t exactly the reply I expected from him.

"And when you’re sad you cry"

"I do not always cry when I’m sad," I defended.

"Hmm" he tapped his finger on his table and I made a mistake by looking at it and I was suddenly reminded of where those fingers had been, dear gods why was I thinking about that right now?! The mere thought of it caused friction to my legs and I was tempted to rub my knees together.

"But you won’t smile anymore"

I darted my eyes at him. "And I don’t like it when you don’t smile"

My heart skipped a loud heartbeat and my grip tightened on the tray once again. "I-I will leave you to work" I mumbled but mostly to myself as I turned on my heels and speed walked away.

I placed the tray on the kitchen table and released a sharp breath, confusion flushing my features. I turned my gaze to the two remaining cookies on the plate and gulped. I could feel something wasn’t right so to taste my theory I grabbed it, took a deep breath before taking a bite.

The most dreadful flavor I have ever tasted far worse than the horrible meals I have had in the past exploded in my mouth and then before I knew it I was already spitting it and wiping my tongue with my fingers to get the horrible taste off, but little did it work. My taste buds were screaming and the strong urge to hurl overwhelmed me.

So I searched for a resort to wipe the dreadful taste off, I quickly grabbed the remaining tea I left in the kettle and turned it on the cup, and chug it. Hoping to swallow it off, but the moment it hit the back of my throat... my eyes flashed open wide as saucers and I spit the tea out and coughed, holding my chest.

"It tastes so horrible!" I yelled. "Oh god, what have I done!" I gripped my head, surely I would lose it right now because nothing can ever be more mind-blowing than this. I served William trash! I cooked trash!

Oh no!

"T-There’s no need for you to panic"

I quickly turned to the voice and I gasped. "Severus?" I wasn’t so sure of the name I was calling because he looked so pale.

"Oh no, you ate them," I said, covering my mouth as regret washed over me. I have poisoned him! He looked like he was hurling off his stomach ever since! Even a mere breeze was enough to brush him to the floor.

"It’s alright Young miss, I’m fine," he said in a strong voice but I could surely tell he was weak, I panicked further.

"Fine? You look like the very winter!"

I regretted cooking in the first place, I regretted being in the kitchen, Elvenia was right! I’m a disaster.

He laughed nervously. "Well, it’s not me you should worry about"

I gulped, fear gripping my body. "B-But William, he didn’t complain" I pointed to the empty tray. "He ate it all and drank the tea" I sounded like I was crazy for I knew I was, how could someone eat something so horrible and not make even the faintest gesture about it?

"Well..." he trailed. "Master doesn’t have a taste for food"

Like a cold bucket of water drench on me as I remained still. "What?"

He nods.

"T-That means" My eyes trembled. "That’s why he does not eat" My grip tightened on my skirt. This explains it all, why there was no reaction from him when he ate, nothing at all, he was simply not tasting the food at all and yet he... he ate it all.

☆☆☆

I paced the room unable to calm my body down, I was unable to soothe down ever since Severus told me everything, I felt stupid and angry at myself and even angry at William! He should have said something he should have-

’It’s more of a kind gesture, for if I turned you down you would be sad, am I right?’

I suddenly remembered his words and paused.

’And I don’t like it when you don’t smile,’

I sat on the bed and sighed deeply, because of me he ate what I brought for him because he didn’t want me to be sad, but my eyes trembled, that was going too far even for him. I was definitely the one at fault... My eyes grew teary, and the strong urge to cry overwhelmed me. I feel so horrible right now, I feel angry at myself, I was just too caught up on making something for him... I should have tasted the cookies before I brought it to him, it was entirely my fault.

I have to make it up to him somehow.

The giant door instantly barged open and for the first time in three days William finally came to his chambers. I was merely startled to the point I was up on my feet the moment he walked in, taking off his waistcoat and raising an eyebrow to me.

"You’re not in your chambers?" he asked as we walked up the stairs and I tilted my head back just to keep my gaze on his. He flings his waistcoat on the bed behind me.

"No," I said softly.

A ghost smile found his lips. "Why Ava?" he seemed entertained now and I knew it was nothing but curiosity that lay in his eyes.

"I-It more comfortable here" I blushed.

He suddenly placed his hand on my cheek and I felt my body grow alive. I never realized how much I missed his touch until now. The feeling it brought to my body was powerful.

"Is it because of my bed... or me"

You

"W-William" I placed my hand on his against my cheek and I noticed his orbs dilating again, and it gave his crystal green orbs a darker color, it was fascinating to see how his eyes would change shades in a mere second, it was almost like they responded to his emotions, It made me wonder what his emotions were when his eyes darken like this...

"Why did you eat the cookies when you don’t have taste buds?"

He closed the distance between us until my back was to the wood frame of the bed.

"I do have taste buds," he said in almost a whisper.

My breath shuddered. "W-What is your taste then?" it must be something if not food, but what could possibly be his taste other than food?

He leaned to me in a heartbeat until his mouth greased my ear and caused a shiver to spark in my body.

"I only hunger for something much more appetizing"
