SILVER-HEART
Chapter 61: His First Taste

Chapter 61: His First Taste

It was silence, hot silence, and I just felt like crumbling under William’s gaze, he hadn’t said anything at all but I wasn’t worried about that but his enthralling crystal green orbs on me.

"Severus" I finally broke the silence.

"Y-Yes young miss"

"This is for you" I handed him a box of cookies I packed just for him. He blinked numerous times before taking it.

"T-Thank you, young miss, you made this?"

"Yes," I said with a small smile before shifting my gaze to William who hadn’t taken his eyes off me.

"Severus, leave us" he finally said and a chill ran through me hearing his luscious baritone voice.

"Yes master" Severus bowed before retreating, I could hear his footsteps fading away and I focused on that only.

"Ava"

"Y-Yes!" I blushed.

"Why did you bring this?"

"Well..." I began with a gulp. "You have been occupied with work, so I thought I should prepare something for you, for you might be famished from all the work"

"I thought I told you I do not need to eat"

"I’m aware, master, but that doesn’t mean you cannot eat right?"

Silence followed, and he suddenly leaned on his chair his eyes still fixated on me like he was trying to have a read on me, I just kept my smile on my lips for I was happy, this was the first time in 5 days he has talked with me longest, the other days was just to answer my questions.

"Is that why I haven’t seen you come here for studies for the past 2 days?"

"Yes... I was learning"

"Learning?"

I nodded only as I quickly took the fine china teapot and turned his tea into the cup, before shifting it to him.

"Please try it," I said, giving him my best smile. I know I sounded desperate but I didn’t care.

William said nothing and continued to stare at me and then finally his beautiful eyes darted to the tea before me and then the plate of biscuit I cautiously drew next to it.

My heart pounded, and I felt like it would give out any second, I have never been nervous in my entire life. My palms were sweaty and my chest rose and fell the moment he reached for the biscuit, and my heart leaped like a race when William brought it to his lips and momentarily stopped when his wonderful teeth took a bite from it.

My knees went weak!

Elvenia walked the halls with her usual stoic expression, she descended her gaze to Sophia who treads beside her.

"And where has your mischievous ass been?"

She sticks her tongue at her. "Helping Avy"

Elvenia rolled her eyes, having no time for the brat but then she caught sight of Severus slightly hunching towards them while gripping the wall like it was the only thing keeping him up.

"What is it, Severus? Are you perhaps tired from the pressuring work from the library?" she mocked. "Even Master hasn’t had a wink of rest for days and here-" she froze when Severus placed his hand on her shoulder and gripped it hard. "What’s wrong with you?!" she demands.

"Severus, are you okay?" Sophia asked worriedly.

He raised his head and they froze, Severus looked pale. "E-Elvenia p-please..." he couldn’t finish as his mouth went puff like he was about to throw up.

"What in god’s name is wrong with you?!" Elvenia growled, growing irritated by his actions.

"S-Stop master..." he gulped, covering his mouth. "B-Before h-he eats the c-cookies"

"What cookies?"

"Don’t tell me..." Sophia began with trembling eyes, one labeled with horror. "It DOES taste hideous as it looks"

Fruition struck Elvenia and before she knew it she was already rushing to the library in panic. By the time she was a mere distance from his office, she quickly hid behind a shelf and shoveled Sophia along with her who followed behind.

"Why Elvenia?! We must stop Muster befor-"

"Shh!" she cut her off. Her trembling gaze on the scene before her eyes, curious Sophia turned her gaze to it.

"Does it taste alright?" Ava asked, worried in her tone and William chewed through the biscuit.

He only nods his need in response before sipping the tea.

"What?" Sophia said in shock and the same look was on Elvenia’s face.

"Ha I see"

They both turned to Severus who had tears in his eyes. "I thought as much... Master hasn’t eaten for centuries so he has lost his sense of taste" he sniffed. "Right now the young miss food is delicious to him, such grace he has, so innocent without knowing the horrific thing he’s eating"

"Elvenia, Severus is spouting nonsense now, is he okay in the head?" Sophia said, turning her wide eyes to Elvenia. "He has lost it"

"No he’s right," Elvenia said, not taking her eyes off the scene. "Look at him," she says, watching as William effortlessly eats the cookies with a blank look, no emotions or a gesture, he was just... neutral with the taste.

’In the end, you won, Ava’ she thought with a hardened look. ’But the gravity of the realizations still stuns me. Master was born without a sense of taste, even though it’s normal for a god to survive without food that doesn’t mean they cannot eat, master has no sense of taste, to begin with, and yet he...’ her fist tightened on her skirt. ’... he still eats what you made for him without effort’

She turned walking away, her chest feeling heavy.

"Elvenia?"

Elvenia spent most of her life trying to perfect her cooking just so that one day when it finally came, he would taste her food, it was what she dreamed of every day.

’I spent centuries trying to get Master to taste my food but unfortunately, food doesn’t appeal to him, it is not his taste and yet yours...’ she smiled but it was not of amusement. She halted her steps staring at the skies through the windows, her eyes sad.

"How unfair..."
