Chapter 60: Hideous
Chapter 60: Hideous
Elvenia rubbed her forehead, where her Master gave her the very kiss that breathed life into her and a new purpose, she actually thought that would be the last time she would spend with the mysterious boy she encountered in the forest, out of curiosity she has followed him just right after she emerged as a butterfly, spending the remaining of her time with him.
She found out that the boy was alone, not just at the library but in life too. She has studied other magical creatures and known them to have parents, but he was alone. She watched him, he paints, rarely speaks, reads, and studies under the caretaker of the library. But she never got a glimpse of his parents, he was without parents and that struck her to be next to him.
And it resulted in her spending a lifetime with him but she does not regret it. William taught her how to cook for she was the only being who can eat, but she found out her master cannot eat.
So when she produced results from her cooking she simply offered him some. But... he would only pat her head and say...
"It looks delicious, well done" and that was all, he never tasted her food, she wasn’t so sure he has ever and she has made it her life assignment to get him to eat something... but it never happened, but instead new acquaintances got to eat her food, which was Severus and Sophia.
She felt warmth in her heart when they happily rushed the food like it was the best thing they have ever tasted and she felt proud. She became the caretaker of the whole place too, tending to William’s needs and the others too whenever she can but strangely she couldn’t follow William to the bath as always, it was confusing for her but she has come to learn to respect his privacy, for William have taught her of etiquettes to follow.
Elvenia sighed, she wondered why she suddenly started thinking about the first time she met William after what Severus said... well maybe he was right, maybe she was jealous that the young miss was working so hard to get the master to taste her food, she has done the same thing over the centuries.
A smirk found her lips... but it was all hopeless, William never eats and it can’t change now, it was foolish to think that way but it made her feel confident. She won’t complain anymore... let the young miss keep trying whatever she thinks she can and in the end, her goal won’t be met, and at least that will get her to go back to her studies and let her kitchen be.

"Avy, is it done?" Sophia asked and turned her big blue eyes at me with curiosity. She looked so cute with her messy curly hair packed up and the little apron around her. The sweet creature offered to help me, well... not that she did much though, it was a constant panic the whole day, when she was close to the fire I would shout and if she held up the knife I would snatch it away from her and scold her. She was almost in tears until I asked her to mix the eggs instead and she was beyond happy.
"I think so" I answered pulling out the large pan, making sure I gripped it tightly and carefully walked to the table and placed it before removing my gloves, I wiped the beads of sweat on my forehead with the back of my hand before sighing, I feel so tired, I thought it would be easy but it wasn’t! The cookbooks were easy to read, yes... and the directions were helpful but actually getting it right was the toughest.
I looked to the trash where my failed attempt was, the burnt cookies, I grimaced. Elvenia will surely kill me but that doesn’t mean I won’t get rid of the evidence before she sees it. I turned back to what I thought to be my accomplishment, at least it wasn’t black this time but brown, and the shape... well... it looked like something cut by a 3-year-old, hehe.
"It looks hideous Avy"
I snapped my dark glare at her. "Hi-de-ous" she mouths again. "A word I learn recently and it’s the perfect description of your biscuits"
How can someone be a brat and yet so cute? Only Sophia can pull that off.
"Well it may be hideous but maybe it tastes good"
"Really?!"
Well, I’m not entirely sure. I placed one on the plate and handed it to her. "Here taste and tell me"
She narrowed her eyes on me. "Why are you giving me a taste?" she mumbled.
"This is part of helping you know? And like I said it might be delicious even though it looked awful" I merely sounded like I was trying to convince myself. I wish I could taste it myself but my taste buds were ruined by eating all those burnt biscuits, I wasn’t so sure I could taste anything sweet right now.
"Sohpia?"
She slowly drew backward like a predator was unto her.
I stared at her in horror. "Come on be a good girl and help check if it’s okay"
She bolted.
"SOPHIA!"

Sophia was mean! I sighed looking down at the gold tray I carried, a plate filled with biscuits and a teapot, a tea I spent three whole hours trying to perfect.
Will William like this? Will he accept it? Sophia was right, it did look hideous but I was trying my chances here, I knew Elvenia won’t let me spend another hour in her kitchen without her glaring at me, so this might be my last attempt to cook for William.
"I have to do it," I said, encouraging myself as I walked closer to William’s office.
I spotted him and Severus engrossed in something but I knew it was clearly related to the library, it always was.
I cleared my throat the moment I got to the foot of the table and they finally noticed me. The moment their eyes landed on me my heartbeat pulsated.
I summoned all the courage I had and dropped the tray on the table.
