Chapter 57: The Essence Of Time
’Time’ In the math books, time is known to be an ongoing and continuous sequence of events that occur in succession, from the past through the present, and to the future. Time is used to quantify, measure, or compare the duration of events or the intervals between them, and even, sequence events.
Physicists explained time as the progression of events from the past to the present into the future. Basically, if a system is unchanging, it is timeless. Time can be considered to be the fourth dimension of reality, used to describe events in three-dimensional space.
The books told me all this and more importantly, the universal essence of time is ’Time waits for no man’ . The passing of time is unstoppable, and it will march on regardless of what anyone says or does.
In all my life I have wanted time to stop for me... Time wasn’t favorable to me for the past 21 years of my life, it was vicious, painful, and most importantly lonely for me. In a better sense time paused for me without even realizing it, what I prayed for was already given to me on a silver platter, I was dead within me and lived my life to die more so that I could rid myself of the pain.
But time started once again for me... when a mysterious man uttered the words ’500 million’ for my worth and from that moment on time didn’t only start for me but I was able to get the emotions I thought I have lost back... the first was ’fear’ staring at a man that had a death aura to him and yet there was a warmth to it. The second emotion was ’Surprise’, he took my arm and plunged me into a world I never thought existed and brought to me a sight I thought I would only see in heaven, and then the rest came through.
Panic
Anxiety
Depression
Shame
Guilt
Sadness
Anger
Happiness
Embarrassment
Compassion
Affection
I’m quite certain I’m in an overload of many I cannot count, emotions given to me made me think my time was not paused, it seems like emotions have a strong influence on how we experience time passing... and it all started when I met William.
I brought the teacup to my lips... maybe that is why I didn’t feel shocked when they told me time runs differently here, I have no reason to panic... there was no one there for me back in the mortal realm so I have been most likely forgotten but here... is a new time for me, it was like a fresh start and opportunity for my already lost soul, although there are many things I do not understand, mysteries I’m yet to fathom but that doesn’t mean I haven’t found a place called home... ’Home’ I smiled, turning to the skies, I never thought that word would be used in my entire life.
"Young miss"
I darted my eyes to Severus who looked at me with curiosity-induced eyes.
"You are not surprised? Or sad or scared about the time?"
I shook my head negatively sipping my tea before dropping my cup on the saucer.
"Severus"
"Yes, young miss?"
"The master must be very busy lately because of the constant knowledge emerging towards the new age right?"
"That is correct"
Maybe I was seeing this the wrong way right? William was merely busy with work and the reason we still can’t talk about what happened, it hurts but that doesn’t mean I don’t understand, because the truth is I do not know what to say or do if William decides to bring it up, I would be the one actually running away from it. Is that another reason? William won’t talk about it because he knows I won’t be able to handle it, was his silence for my sake?
William... he’s a very dynamic being and sometimes I find it hard to believe he’s human, of course, he isn’t... Severus has mentioned he was a god, a man of knowledge. William might be too hard for me to understand, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try, I intend to be a better bride to him, that was my purpose.
"Elvenia"
She darted her eyes at me. "Yes young miss"
I blushed. "C-Can you teach me?"
"Teach you what, young miss?"
"T-To" I leveled my gaze. "...cook"
"What was that young miss? I did not hear you"
I snapped my eyes to her, I was merely convinced that they all had a strange way of hearing whispers.
"Cook"
"I do not think that is necessary young miss"
"Bake?"
"I don’t think so young miss"
I slammed my palm on the table and sat up. "It is part of studies is it not?"
She opened her mouth but I quickly turned to Severus who looked between the two of us.
"Severus", it was just his name but surely he could understand the meaning... I needed him to back me up here.
He chuckled nervously. "W-Well young miss is right, Master wants her to be versatile in not just her knowledge but in every area" he faces Elvenia who looked like she would murder him any second, but she wouldn’t right?
"Come on Elvenia, you know how the master is very strict when it comes to knowledge, I think it’s good the young miss wants to learn other areas and you should let her explore, Master will certainly be pleased, right?"
I would hug Severus right now but that would be uncultured. I merely gave him my brightest grin, and he looked to the side as his cheeks tinted, well that was new.
"Of course," Elvenia said with clenched teeth.
There was no way she would say no to me now. Yes!
"I’m under your care, Elvenia, please do not hesitate to show me everything I need to know, I’m not your young miss now but merely your pupil," I said amused.
But suddenly I froze when a smirk flashed on Elvenia’s lips, yes I have always wanted her to at least smile for I knew she would be stunning with it and would add a change to her stoic features but no... I regret it now!
Why was she smirking at me like I’m some prey she can’t wait to devour?
It’s scary!
