Chapter 196: Estel ~ Awakening {2}

My heartbeat pulsated and I remained frozen on the spot with shuddering breaths, the shock taking over my mind and body filled with nothing but the blood gushing from Estel’s eyes which were closed. There was a sharp ringing in my ears and I noticed her mouth was moving. She was calling for me but I couldn’t move my body.

Dread

Terror

All gathered and pinned my legs to that spot, I eventually willed my body to move as the dread increased and it wasn’t little steps for I hurried on my feet and kneel before her and placed my hands on her shoulder.

"E-Estel! What happened, did you hurt yourself?!"

She shook her head.

More panic filled me, if she didn’t hurt herself then...

"I just stood at the mirror and then my eyes stung"

I gulped.

"It started bleeding and I panicked"

Oh, dear gods. "I-Is it hurting right now? I can’t think... does it hurt, just keep your eyes closed, okay"

She smiled, dear heavens she smiled at me as if she wasn’t bleeding from her eyes, as if the situation wasn’t proven worse right now.

"It’s alright, Mother I don’t feel it, it doesn’t hurt"

"Oh Estel"

"Ava!"

I twirled and William stood at the door, I noticed his nose wrinkled and I knew he smelt the blood.

"William" I began with shakily. "Estel, she..." I couldn’t even finish because he was already by my side in the same position.

"Something is happening to her..." Tears were already leaking from my eyes before I could stop it.

Estel was fast asleep now, she was suddenly weak after the loss of blood, and after getting all the blood cleaned up I covered her eyes with bandages. I was scared, scared that this must be something more than just mere bleeding. My mind was unable to come down... even as she slept soundly without a worry in the world.

Wasn’t she in pain? It must hurt, right? But yet not even a glimpse of distress and her sleeping feature remained the same cute sparkle I love watching, you could barely tell something was wrong.

I kept my eyes on William who checked her pulse. He panicked just as much as I did when I told him what happened, so right now he was trying to figure out what was wrong.

"It’s happening"

"W-What?"

"Her powers of Foresight," he said, rubbing her little hands gently as if to soothe her. "It’s awakening"

My eyes went wide, we have waited years and now it decided to manifest. Her soothsayer’s powers were coming forth, we long since expected it to come at the age of 5... but Estel remained normal as usual without a hint of that power, and then we continued to monitor her until this very moment.

"Don’t be afraid Ava... there is no harm to her eyes, her powers just triggered it, I’m sure her eyesight will be back by tomorrow morning"

"William, we have to seal it, if just awakening her foresight makes her bleed, who knows what will happen when she does use it to see the future, it’s too great for her," I said looking at her sleeping form and then Aldon’s words crept into my head like it was engraved there.

’Even if I don’t kill her... her powers will’

I swallowed a lump in my throat and the dread overcame me, but feeling William’s hand on mine the dread was pushed aside.

"There are already side effects from sealing half of her aura, she is physically weak in the mornings, it could have been way worse, I don’t know what will happen if I seal her foresight"

I gulped at his words, knowing he was right, Estel’s potential was a mystery and even William didn’t completely understand it too. She is the first to wield this power, I wish she was never born with it, because it feels like she would have to deal with something bigger than her and I didn’t want that.

Because I knew that feeling all too well... of having everything weighted on your shoulders, my Estel is still young, and many things about this world she still wants to learn about and I don’t want her powers to take that away.

"We will wait until tomorrow morning, then I will know what to do," William said.

I nodded "O-Okay," I said, staring down at her sleeping form once again, monitoring the rise and fall of her chest, her hand clasped tightly around mine.

"In the meantime, I will search for a seal, stay with her through the night," he said, rising to his feet and then cupping my cheek. I forced a smile.

"You know even when she was bleeding she said it didn’t hurt"

A smile tugged on his lips. "Tolerate to pain"

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing"

He raised an eyebrow. "Depends"

"I worry she will turn a blind eye to pain just like you, which does not entail well"

"Ha..." he leaned and placed a kiss on my forehead and I sighed, closing my eyes and loving as his wet lips touched my skin, just a kiss and I’m already crumbling under it.

"You worry too much, Wife. Estel is a strong girl and I know we will find a solution to her awakening, do not worry"

The next morning Estel stirred awake with a groan, feeling arms wrapped around her. She knew all too well it was her mother, because of the warmth that flooded into her cold skin. Estel really needed to get off the bed, because her eyes itched in this bandage, she tussled against the bed.

"Mommy" she called and she felt her stir awake, but a groan left her instead of her waking.

So Estel shifted her mother’s hand from her waist and sat up on the bed taking the bandages off and it rolled down the floor.

As sluggish as usual Estel dragged her feet on the ground until she stood in front of the mirror and then she opened her eyes and then a gasp left her.

Ava instantly awoke when she felt Estel’s body gone.

"Estel?"

"Mommy look"

"What?" Ava quickly rushed to her feet but she stopped right in her tracks when she saw her daughter’s eyes.

They were no longer just vermillion but rather two colors, the right eye has green color, exactly like William’s, even the same crystal pattern and the other remained her vermillion color, but now crystal-like, shining so brightly as the sunlight slips in, looking like gems.

"Do I look scary?"

"No, no sweetheart, you’re not," Ava said, kneeling before her. "It’s just your eyes are the source of your powers" A smile found her lips as she cupped her cheeks. "The green looks just like your fathers"

Her face instantly beamed up. "Really?" she said, turning to the mirror.

Ava placed her hands on her shoulders and turned her to face her.

"Yes," Ava mused.

And the door barged open and William walked in.

"Is she awake?"

"Papa!" Estel called and William took a few steps toward her and she instantly hugged him even as tired as she was... William picked her up and she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I have your eyes, papa!"

William paused. "What?"

"Just one of them though" Ava mused. "I think it’s the effect of the Foresight’’

"Heterochromia" William mumbled.

"Is that why my eyes bleed?" Estel asked.

"Yes, dearest," William said, running his hand up and down her hair. "But don’t worry, everything will be alright"

She nods before burying her face in her father’s neck.

☆☆☆

After that day William was able to seal her powers, but he didn’t know how much he sealed or how effective it would be, but her eyes remained the same. Elvenia, Severus, and Sophia marveled at the beauty of her eyes, for they were like crystals.

The days went on and Estel didn’t show any effect of her powers, until one day...

"Estel?" William called, feeling his hands on the table. She was meant to be at his table but she was missing again. William knew no doubt she would be at the tree just at the cliff again, so he headed there, allowing the auras he could feel to lead him. But just when he was at the compound he paused hearing a whooshing sound.

A portal?

No doubt it felt like it and he didn’t remember opening one, curious he stepped into it and an unfamiliar scent filled his nose, was this the Elven woods? It didn’t smell like this.

"Estel!"

He suddenly heard a branch snap and he instantly turned his head to it and a scent filled his nose, one that caused his entire body to go numb.

"Who are you?" William asked the sudden footstep approaching him.

"W-William?"

William’s body instantly freezes when he hears that voice, a voice that has plagued his dreams many times in a song, and the warm aura that flooded from her was the exact same, the same one that held him when he was just a baby.

"Mother?"
