Chapter 197: Estel ~ Leylines {1}
EARLIER
Estel was seated on William’s lap as she wrote things in her book.
"Your handwriting is just as cute as your mother’s" William mused behind her.
"Cute? It’s a nightmare, papa" Estel said looking down at what her papa assumed to be cute when it was the total opposite. She knew that much and she blushed in embarrassment, she forgot her papa could tell every single little thing.
William merely chuckled at her words, he could tell this much because of the movement of her aura and it was the exact same as Ava’s, her characteristics were just the same as hers. So he could tell her handwriting was identical to Ava’s, even as she blushes on every occasion.
"How many words have you written down?"
"About 200!"
"That’s excellent"
"Papa?"
"Yes dearest?"
Estel puts the quill down and faces her papa. "Why did you seal my powers?" she asked curiously because it has weighed on her mind ever since.
"Because it’s too great for you, Estel, the power to see the future flips the balance, all gods or Demi-gods have to maintain that balance"
"Isn’t the Holy Library, like a future beacon?"
William smiled at her question. "Yes it is... but it is knowledge, here we maintain what should be released into the world and at what time... so you’re right this place IS a future beacon, but this place holds that much power, and you dearest, are just one demigod... it’s too great"
"I understand papa, but... my eyes remain the same, that’s why I was curious why it was sealed off when I didn’t get the chance to understand these powers"
"There are other things you can do... your foresight doesn’t define you and as your eyes..." he rubbed the side of his face on her cheeks and she giggled at his tender action. "...Is just as beautiful, the aura it holds is so bright. Make sure you tell me if you feel any different alright?"
"Alright, I will... I too think such Foresight shouldn’t be wielded by an individual. If the future is looked into it will cause imbalance. Is that why prophecies are crafted, right Papa?"
William nods. "Prophecies were made to give warning and in some special cases promote goodwill"
"Have you ever been given a prophecy before, papa?"
William paused at his daughter’s question. "Yes, a long time ago by my mentor"
"And what did it say?"
"A Fairy shall reunite?"
"Me?"
William smiled only, he knew Estel was smart to tell who the fairy is.
"I have to check on something" William suddenly said, picking her up as he rose to his feet and placed her on his seat.
Estel eyed her papa with worried eyes for she knew he had simply avoided that question, she knew from the very start that she was a fairy, except she didn’t know exactly what she was reuniting...
"Papa?"
"Yes dearest" William replied, stopping in his tracks.
"If I were to fulfill this prophecy will you be happy?"
"What makes you think I’m not happy?" William mused, raising an eyebrow.
"I saw you one night, you sat at the pond and you faced the skies, there was longing in your features and I had a thought"
"What thought?"
"What could possibly be on Papa’s mind to make him look so lost and confused, are you scared of something papa? I feel it increases every day"
"My greatest fear happened years ago when I almost lost you and your mother" he placed a grip on his chin like he was thinking. "You know dearest... I was once a man who didn’t understand emotions or simple gestures, but your mother taught me what it means to feel, I was a cold wall of knowledge only, and I thought that was what a perfect being should be"
"Are you now a perfect being now, papa?"
William grinned. "There is no perfect being, Estel, flaws exist, and even as gods who are meant to be perfect than mortals are just as mortal inside, maybe we were just created as upgraded versions of the mortals"
"Mortals, gods, Demi-gods. It is just the name" Estel said, tilting her head to the side.
"Maybe" William shrugged about walking but Estel spoke.
"I don’t want Papa to be perfect but truly happy"
William paused and faced her for a brief second. "Maybe when you finish your writing I will be happy"
Estel giggled as she watched her papa disappear in the covering of shelves but suddenly her smile fades, she knew no doubt something weighed on her papa’s mind but she couldn’t tell what.
She sighed, placing her hand on her cheek, and resumed writing but the sudden urge to go outside overwhelmed her, but before doing so she made sure she finished the task at hand before jumping down from her seat, she eyed her shoes but shrugged deciding not to wear it, she preferred her feet to have some fresh air.
Estel happily walked out of the library and out of the building to the garden to watch the flowers and the butterflies that settled on them.
"Yes!" She said holding onto her sketchbook tightly and sitting on the bench to get a good sketch of the view. Drawing the flowers and the butterflies, but just focusing on one and shading it.
"Hmm?" She was dumbfounded when she saw colors on them, but she was clearly using just pencil, so where were the hues of green and red coming from?
Curious, she dropped her sketchpad and walked to the pond to use it as a mirror to see what was going on and she gasped when she saw her eyes glowing.
"That can’t be good" she mumbled but unexpectedly the sound of whooshing caught her off guard and it was coming from a particular area.
Curious she raised her skirt and walked towards it venturing deeper into the land of the library.
She came to a stop when she saw a wide portal centered in between two trees.
"Portal?"
Her eyes gave a pulsing vibe and then it struck her. It was responding to her eyes... Does this mean she was the one who opened it?
