William felt cold droplets of water on his face and he knew no doubt Ava was crying... he didn’t want to tell her this, left for him he could have kept this long enough from her, as long as she didn’t break himself because of it.

Does he regret giving up his eyes?

No... he does not, he would have given more if that were the case. William originally thought Hades would demand his soul but it turns out the god didn’t have interest in it because it was already bound to the library, so he took his eyes instead. William still wondered why that of all things but at least he got what he wanted.

As per their deal, Aldon will be trapped in eternal torment in the underworld and he knew without a doubt Hades will have his fun, it was the first soul offered to him as tribute as he had mentioned that day before vanishing.

’I will be sure to treat my prisoner well... I have an eternity of course’

Those were Hades’ words before departing and William knew it was not something pleasant, at least Aldon got what he deserves.

Hearing Ava’s sniffs, William broke out of his lines of thought. He wanted so badly to see Ava right now, but he can’t, even though it has been one month he was still getting used to being blind.

Thanks to his enhanced hearing and the feeling of auras he can get by easily but it was not as easy as he thought or fun. Because right now he wanted so badly to set his eyes on her, as well as his daughter.

He doesn’t even know what she looks like... and that thought shattered him knowing he would never be able to tell, he knew the price and he paid it and he would do it over and over again to protect his family, even if it meant condemning the library out of existence. He would do it again in a heartbeat.

"Do not cry, Ava..." William said softly as he felt more tears falling down his cheeks, she was shaking and crying, he didn’t want that. She still needed rest and her body needed to heal, it was one anxiety to another, and he didn’t want her to fret about his condition.

"Ava..." he began gently tracing her arms and reaching for her hand, clasping it in his big ones and bringing them to his lips, giving her knuckles a gentle kiss. "I do not want you to torment yourself because of this"

"It breaks me, William, you sacrificed your eyes to-"

"And I would do it again, I made a choice so let me live with it"

He felt her hands grip his shoulders tightly. "This is all my fault if I haven’t trusted Aldon and-"

"I thought you said we shouldn’t dwell on the past? Aldon is your past now as well as everything else, let’s call it a bad dream"

"It won’t be that easy, William"

"I know it won’t but..." he paused. "I want to live my life for you and Estel as best as I can... not any other thing just for the both of you, I lost you guys once and it would destroy me if it happens again"

She wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face in his neck. "This is not fair"

"Nothing is ever fair my sweet but we will have to make do. So please stop crying, alright?"

But she didn’t stop, he could still feel her silent tears wetting his neck, her body quaking against him and he held her tightly as ever, trailing feather kisses to her neck.

Feeling William’s gentle kiss on my neck made my chest squeeze and tingles flood my body, his wet lips on mine were like getting kissed by a hot flame, his hot aura was more powerful tonight and I knew because the night was cold and he was keeping Estel warm too.

It broke my heart to find the reason for his blindfold, William gave up his eyes to trap Aldon in the underworld, to set me free from him he has sacrificed a big part of himself, his eyes were like second to the library, eyes he has used to measure all knowledge coming to the library and keep them at bay and yet he gave it up for us.

My beautiful crystal green eyes were gone and I would never get to see them again... he would never see Estel and it breaks me.

"I do not want you to pressure yourself about it" his gentle words came to my ear as he nibbled on the helix of my ear and I shuddered. "Please..."

I felt like crying again but I was too tired of having that sad water come out of me, I just wanted to savor this moment but I just can’t. So I pulled away and let my eyes fall on his handsome features. My hand tugged on the blindfold.

"Lemme see"

"Ava"

"Please"

His lips parted but no words came from him so I took that as my answer as I gently tugged and untied the knot behind and the material fell to his neck.

A gasp left me.

"I have to cover it or else it will scare, Estel"

My lip quivered as my eyes gaze upon hollow eyes, completely black and it was just like when his vampire side took over and his eyes went completely void but this was void without eyes.

"I do not want to scare you too"

I shook my head sniffing. "You never scare me... and I will never be afraid, I love you for everything that you are, both with missing parts," I let my finger trail his silver eyelashes, and his eyes closed by my action and fluttered under my touch, I leaned and placed a kiss on his eyes before trailing my lips to his, sucking on them and they parted for me and my tongue slid in and danced with his.
