Chapter 186: Hades

Chapter 186: Hades

William kept his crystal green eyes on his office... but it wasn’t an empty chair, someone sat on it

"Haa..." a dark gloomy voice echoed, and the tapping of long nails on the surface of the table followed. "A Demigod hails me..."

William kept his stern eyes on the unearthly being in his seat, relaxed like he owned it and everything in the world.

Hades was before William, the very god of the underworld no one has ever meddled with. William was unable to see the face of this being for he had a beast skull for a mask, But the mask only covered his eyes and nose, his lips were to the view that pressed in a wide line of smirk.

Hades’ hand flipped the pages of a book he held like he was reading it, while the other hand tapped on the surface of the table echoing in the quietness.

"Hades," William said.

Hades made no effort in speaking to William, simply keeping attention on the book.

"You have guts, child" he began. "I have never been hailed before... Tell me what is this place, the books harbor phenomenal power"

"The Holy Library"

"Fascinating..." he muses. "And why am I here, child?"

"I need your help"

"You desire aid from me?" he shut the book instantly. "What could a living being possibly require from me?"

"For something, I cannot control"

"Living beings always pitch fit at things they cannot possess... it’s immature and despicable but I’m inquisitive..." he began finally facing William and his eyes stared back at skull ones, hollow and brooding and gave an eerily feeling, enough to make William fidget.

"...Of all the gods that could have hailed me... a demi-god does, I feel insulted" he adds as the library quaked like it was about to collapse. "You’re not frightened, boy?"

"I have already doomed my duties the moment I summoned you"

"Is that so?" The quake became far more intense as the windows smashed to pieces and the walls cracked and some bricks fell apart, the floor cracking.

"I can obliterate this dwelling with just the snap of my fingers," Hade said, rising to full height revealing his dark robe like the pool of darkness itself. "I could wipe out the sheer reality of knowledge and doom the Realms... what say you, child?" Hades asked and he paused when he saw William unmoved by what was unfolding.

Standing his ground without an ounce of panic whatsoever, his expression was completely unreadable.

"Fascinating... you would go that far to condemn the Realms? Such a foolish boy"

"Yes... I’m foolish, even if the power is darker than my soul and eats me up I will not rest until I defeat my foe"

And then the next thing that happened chilled William’s bones, Hades broke into a pearl of dark laughter, the dark amusement echoing. Suddenly the Quake stopped but the damages remained, even the library cannot heal itself from Hades’ power.

"A hunger for vengeance enough for you to convict your duties... now I’m certainly bewitched" he muses as with a flap of his robe his attire changed to a dark-fitted suit hugging his large frame perfectly.

The chair moved to the front of the table and Hades took his seat and crossed his long legs, his elbow resting on the armrest and the back of his hand covered in a back glove resting on the side of his face.

"I find you humorous and foolish..." and suddenly from the skull socket of his mask, there was a beam of red signifying his eyes. "... so apprise me what you desire" he stretched his other black-gloved hand in a receiving action. "I might just feel benevolent"

"I desire you trap a soul"

"What soul to snare when it is not dead?"

"A soul connected to someone I hold dear, I cannot destroy him... but I can send that soul to you"

"Oh... an offer of a soul?"

"Yes"

"You should know, child... There is a distinction between perishing and having a soul shipped to my domain and shipping one to me as tribute. First, a soul finding its way to my domain by death merits its torment and scorch for eternity, and secondly, a soul given to me..." his tone died down into a darker contrast, and a smirk followed on his lips. "... becomes my plaything and has the most imaginable condemned fate in history, and yet you offer me a soul. I have never been offered one, just the sheer thought of it gives me delight"

"This soul belongs to a Yang"

Hades frowned. "A light?"

"Once light but now tainted"

"Haa... I knew there was a shift in balance somewhere" he smirks.

"Will you take it?"

"I do not receive requests child, I simply make deals or is there not much info about my mighty persona?"

He got silence as his answer.

"I see... I’m not well known here"

"If you want my soul I shall give, name your price"

"Hoo... how brazen and absurd"

William’s teeth clenched, this being has done nothing but insult him and it ticks him, but William knew better than to challenge, it was the last thing he wanted. He knew no doubt that Hades was an isolated god bound to the Underworld to guide the souls of the dead. They were alike in some way... both created for a duty forced upon them, to be bound to a place... William knew that feeling quite well.

"Your soul does me no use... it is affixed to this place and it has lost its flavor"

"Then what do you want?"

He grinned showing his perfect white teeth and William knew what Hades will say next will be something drastic but has prepared that much for anything... even his very soul.

"Your eyes retain unrecognized power not even you have unlocked... eyes that have seen a large scope of knowledge, even as I stare at it now, I’m drowned by its magnificence, eyes like crystals and ravishing, I would very much desire that in my collection,"
