Chapter 170: The Story Of Yin And The Fox Guardian {18}

Ava found an unexplainable feeling flushing through her body and making it go numb when William wrapped his arms around her. She felt safe and covered from anything that sought to harm her, she felt strangely complete. Right now Ava didn’t mind dying... she would die happy that she was finally in his arms again... but yet she was selfish because she wanted nothing more than to remain in his arms, forever and forever.

Truly selfish of her

Having that thought in mind, her body gave out and Wiliam panicked holding her before she dropped, she was heaving now, trying to catch her breath as the fatigue got to her.

"Ava" William said worried, he didn’t realize how cold she was until now, how pale her skin was, so pale that her once pink lips were a match to her skin and there were black veins on her body like a crack.

"William," Ava said weakly.

"What is happening to your body, what is..." William didn’t finish his words because pure fear unlike anything else overwhelmed him, he was in a state of shock for about two minutes before his senses snapped back in. He quickly released his hot aura to keep her warm even though it was risky for his body but he didn’t care, as long as she stopped shivering.

She did... but it didn’t take away the marks and her body was still pale like that of a ghost.

Ava finally got some strength in her body, she told him everything... what she couldn’t bring herself to before, it will do her no good to keep it away from him, he deserves to know everything.

As Ava explained... William just stared at her with unreadable eyes, his features blank.

Ava told him about her past life as Yin, her time in Aethel and everything she had to endure and how she stumbled into a Realm in search of her truth, and how the Emperor helped her, there were not many details because she felt too weak to speak and she was suddenly dizzy.

"It’s okay Ava," William said softly with an unreadable expression as he placed a hand on her head and moved her more into his chest as she closed her eyes. "I’m here... I won’t let him find you I promise"

As much as Ava wanted to trust in his words she couldn’t for she knew Aldon would come sooner or later, there was no escaping her curse... It was a curse bound to happen for eternity, even in death or after death she will be back to him, she was tethered to his soul.

"I-I just want to be here with you William, even though it’s just one week"

William’s body was shaking, he couldn’t process the emotions storming his body all at once. Anger, pain, fear. His teeth gritted and his eyes blackened, he couldn’t still his body, and the ice was already covering everything in its path.

Seeing William’s struggle caused Ava’s heart to shatter, she didn’t want him like this, but she knew she couldn’t bear to hide it either. She gently cupped his cheek with one hand but he refused to look at her. His eyes were completely black and he looked detached right now and it was becoming too cold, to the point it was snowing right now.

"Look at me please" she begged, her eyes were slowly shutting and fatigue taking over her body before she could blink once she passed out.

Ava felt her body too heavy to move, and the bed she lay on was overly comfortable. She stirred awake and the moment she moved her hand she felt a hold on it and she was forced to open her eyes and found crystal green eyes staring at her.

Ava couldn’t explain this feeling right now, William being the first person she saw caused warmth to fill her body and she blushed.

"How are you feeling?"

"Are you alright?"

He forced a weak smile. "You’re the one who is bedridden and you ask if I’m okay?"

"Y-You looked strange before... y-your eyes were black and..." she couldn’t finish as she gulped, she had never seen William like that before and even right now he kept an expression she can’t read. And he was strangely calm but it looked like he was about to explode with his emotions.

"How long do you have?"

"A-A week"

"I will find a way to-"

"William please" she began holding his hand tightly. "I do not want to spend it apart from you"

"Even if you die Ava," his teeth clenched. "You still go back to him, when does it end?"

"It never ends," she mumbled. "It’s my curse, and I don’t want to think about it or Aldon, I just want to be with you William"

William looked the other way as the tears sting his eyes. "I feel so useless Ava. Y-You can’t expect me to watch you die, I can’t... I can’t" he couldn’t finish the words, he sniffed forcing the tears that wanted to storm so bad. "I thought you were never real Ava, I thought I had imagined you for years, but I was wrong, you were always real... not to the world but to me" he adds, his eyes on her now.

And Ava felt like she couldn’t breathe, her heartbeat picking up, his look on her wasn’t the usual one but it held something far more.

"Will-" she couldn’t finish because William leaned to her in a heartbeat and pressed his lips against hers gently. Ava froze with wide eyes, her features in shock but it all died down when she closed her eyes, tears sliding down from the corner of her eyes.

’Stupid Ava... you were supposed to accept death and accept your fate... but now... with his lips on mine, I have never felt so selfish in my entire life ’ She held onto his shirt tightly like her life depended on it.

’I don’t want to die’
