Chapter 169: The Story Of Yin And The Fox Guardian {17}
"What will this spell do?" Ava was forced to ask and Nicklaus gave her a sad smile.
"You said if you had one dying wish it would be to spend your last time with your friend"
Ava’s eyes went wide at Nicklaus’ words, and suddenly she was crying again.
"I can pause the process your body will undergo but only for a week"
Ava covered her mouth as the tears fell non-stop, she wanted to say something but she just couldn’t... the tears won’t stop. She sobbed looking up at Nicklaus and a smile formed on her lips. She couldn’t even begin to explain the joy she felt right now.
"One week is everything," she cried. "Y-You would do that for me?"
Nicklaus nods.
"For a stranger?"
"I told you before... you’re no longer a stranger" he looked to the side and noticed his jaw clenched. "I wish I could stop your death Ava... but even I... don’t have that power, I once lost someone dear to me... watching her die before my eyes and there was nothing I could do. I may be a powerful vampire god, but not even I can control death"
Ava tugged on Nicklaus’ jacket and he darted his green eyes to her. "Thank you"
A small smile found Nicklaus’ lips as he stared at the girl in his arms, he didn’t believe he would begin to care for... a girl he knew nothing about but in this short period of time she was one with the purest heart he has ever seen... she didn’t deserve what was happening to her, nothing of it at all... she deserved a long life and to live her life to the fullest. She deserves every good thing the world has to offer.
Nicklaus wished he could do more for her, but this was the only thing he can offer, even though it’s not saving her life but yet she smiled at him and told him thank you from the bottom of her heart.
He can only pray that she is able to fulfill her last wish.
Ava buried her face in William’s chest murmuring the word thank you over and over again as her body glowed and began to disappear, she looked up at Nicklaus one last time with the brightest smile she could offer.
"Because of you I get to see William again... thank you"
Nicklaus froze at her words and at that time she was gone, his hand empty, but he was still in a state of shock. Did he hear her right? Did she just say, William? Yes definitely there were many named ’William’ but hearing that name made a feeling overwhelm him, he wanted to believe that name belonged to his first son, he wanted it to be him.
Was Ava a friend of William?

THE HOLY LIBRARY
’My life has been one I had to live for others... I was told what I should be and how I should act, who I should spend the rest of my life with. Be the princess of my people. I have never desired something for myself for I am convinced I already have everything.
But I never did... I wasn’t so sure I truly wanted what was given to me. I desired something else, freedom’
Ava stood in the garden, her eyes taking in everything as her body completely materialized, and just as her eyes scan the all too familiar place it settled on a figure on the patio just at the pond and the silver hair gave her all the answers she needed.
Her body was already moving on its own, even though it hurts, even though her legs were heavy, and even though she found it hard to breathe, she ran to him like it was the last time, tears spilling from her eyes.
’In search of my freedom, I obtain something that not even all the golds in Aethel can give to me. Someone who cares, someone who listens, and someone who looks at me like I was the only one standing. Even in death, all I thought about was him, even in the hardest of situations I wanted nothing more than to come back to him’
Ava was panting now... but she didn’t stop, it felt like her body would give out but she never stopped her legs.
"William!"
William froze hearing the all too familiar voice, a voice that was capable of temporarily ceasing all actions in his body. Was it in his head again? Many times he has heard her voice, imagined her. But it was just his mind trying to sink in reality that was never his.
But this time it felt different, he can actually hear her, and having that thought in mind he turned and the world stopped spinning. Ava was already in his arms before he could react... before he could blink and he just stood there like frozen ice, with her arms wrapped around him tightly as she cried.
Was he dreaming?
Was he seeing things again?
Was his mind playing some sick trick in his head?
With trembling hands, he placed them on her back, and warmth flushed through his skin and his senses picked up... he could smell her wonderful fragrance, she could feel her, he could hear her cries, she was here, she was actually here!
And then he wrapped his arms around her tightly like it was the last time they would embrace, more importantly, this was the first hug between them, but William didn’t think of any of that but the girl in his arms, a girl he thought he has lost, who he thought he would never see again and it broke him.
And now here she was, in his arms, really here and not just in spirit but in her entirety. He held her like she would disappear, so tight and not wanting to let go, burying his face in her neck and taking in everything about her, her sweet smell, her warm body. Everything.
Tears were already spilling from his eyes before he could stop them, streaming down silently still amazed by the fact he held her in his arms. He wasn’t so sure he would be able to let go... never.
