Chapter 168: The Story Of Yin And The Fox Guardian {16}

"I will not let it happen, I will not just let you fade away" he took her hand and Aveline gasped at the sudden gesture. "You have to love me, Aveline! We’re the balance, it doesn’t have to be friendship, we can be more" he begged. His eyes pleaded for her to agree, for them to be together in spite of what they were born for.

Aveline’s eyes quivered at his words for she knew how sincere he was about this, but it was wrong, any other thing leading away from their purpose will only bring doom.

"I-I can’t Aldon... I don’t feel-"

He cuts her off when he hugs her tightly and Aveline is once again shocked by his advances.

"I know you do not love me, but give me time, I-I can make it work, I can show you"

Aveline’s eyes turned sad. "But I do not want love, Aldon, I want only peace, we have stayed in this world for thousands of years, and I do not want to remain"

Aldon drew sharply on breath and parted away from her and grip her arms tightly. "If not this world then another"

"Aldon!"

"I will not lose you Aveline, we are not just merely spirits existing to create a balance and just witter away after our use. We can be something more Aveline"

"Aldon, please stop... I understand how you feel but it is not what I want!"

"It should be what you want because without me you cannot exist"

"Aldon" Aveline said as softly as she could and she cupped his cheeks. "Please..." she begged but his eyes were consumed with so many battling emotions, fighting their way through and breaking everything that was meant to be their nature. The love and adoration were clear in his eyes and just as clear as it was... just as scary.

Love is dangerous

Aveline didn’t want it... it was not meant for her, she only wants peace and as much as she wanted to return his affections, she can’t, she can’t force herself into wanting what he desires, it wasn’t right.

"Let me go..."

"Never" he answered sternly. "If you will not remain with me if the laws of this dimension don’t want it because we will cease to exist then maybe a curse can grant my wishes"

"No no Aldon!"

"I curse you Aveline Yin for eternity for as long as I am reborn you will follow, we will be together until the end of time, you will understand my love and I will prove it to you, just how destined we will be together"

"No!" She tried to pull away from his grip but she couldn’t, and then a spiral of flame circled around him.

They were meant to cease to exist but now something far more was about to happen and nothing can save her from this fate forced in her way.

"I want peace, Aldon," she begged as desperate tears slid down her cheeks, her gaze leveling to the fire ready to burn them into cursed fate. Aveline has never felt pristine fear until this very moment.

She darted her teary gaze to Aldon’s who cried just as much as her, but for a completely different reason.

"W-We were meant to create balance in the beginning not this, not love, I can’t please, lift your curse. You have no idea what you’re doing!"

Aldon only smiled at her. "As long as we’re together, it does not matter," she said softly, his skin lit in flames but the pain was nothing to him, only joy in his heart for he knew this curse will bind them together for all eternity.

"Aldon! You will ruin everything, your nature, our roles, everything, please!" she begged, she cried but Aldon stood his ground not letting go.

He never wants to let go... no matter what.

The flames increased, consuming them both, and Aldon sealed their fates with a kiss.

"You’re my greatest darkness, Aveline"

Nicklaus observed as Ava opened her eyes and suddenly the Journal combusted into flames and her body slowly descended. Nicklaus held out his arms and she dropped right into it.

"Ava" Nicklaus said but Ava remained silent and then she broke in a feat of tears.

"You’re right," she cried, holding his jacket tightly. "What is not your choice is a curse! I only wanted peace but Aldon took that away from me, we cursed me to be with him and I begged him, I didn’t want to, but he forced me"

Nicklaus was silent as she watched the girl cry her heart out, her heart tearing apart and all he could do was watch. This was all too familiar to him, to be cursed and live a life of a tied fate but in her case, she was bonded to someone she didn’t want and that was the scariest of them all.

Suddenly Ava’s skin started cracking.

"Little one"

Ava looked up to his gaze and she smiled at him. "It seems like I don’t have much time anymore... but what is the use of dying when I know I will just be reborn and be back in his arms again. Even death can’t take me away from him, my fate is sealed" she sobbed.

It was inevitable, a soul laid to her soul, to be by Aldon’s side for eternity. It was unfair.

And Nicklaus frowned at her words, his teeth gritting, her words spiking thorns to his heart. "No one fate is sealed Ava, you choose your fate" he began running his thumb and drawing something above her forehead and a symbol forged.

"W-What are you doing?"

It took a moment before Nicklaus replied to her for he merely focused on the symbol. "I can buy you time Ava, but that is it, I cannot stop what is happening to your body... nothing can," he says. "This spell can only work a short period of time but its enough"

"What will this spell do?"
