Chapter 167: The Story Of Yin And The Fox Guardian {15}

THE DARKMORE REALM

Nicklaus kept his indistinct gaze on the afloat girl before him, covered in a circle of letters emerging from the journal now open at the center, Ava’s eyes closed, almost like she was in a Torpor state.

It began this way when the journal snapped open and responded to Ava instantly. Nicklaus knew better than to interfere with what was unfolding before him, her life wasn’t in danger, she was seeking her truth.

"Find your truth Ava" Nicklaus said to the girl and not taking his eyes off her.

A/N: Song For The Background ~ The Wheel Of Time By Lorne Balfe

The letters flooded into Ava, into her head, into her senses. Everything Aldon has ever written ever since the memory of their past lives came forth, every single detail and she saw it for herself. The truth from millennia ago when Ava and Aldon were both made to maintain the harmony of the universe and to influence everything within it.

’It was the total opposite... There was never love except mutual understanding between Yin and Yang, Aveline and Aldon. Aveline was born out of darkness and thus her nature she was meant to see only the darkness of the world, her vermilion eyes so cold that even a mere glance could shift the earth apart. She was meant to see the world with no joy and no appeal, merely for her balance and her relationship with Aldon who was her polar opposite.

They were meant to fulfill their purpose and go into peace, and Aveline wanted nothing more than to complete her task and ease to exist for nothing moves her. But Aldon wanted more...’

Aldon kept his eyes on Aveline who stood at the edge of the cliff watching the floating mountains, the wing caressing her amber hair and flapping her black gown, her eyes were dead to the precious view but that was the total opposite of what Aldon sees... for what he sees is the most beautiful creature he has ever set his eyes upon, ever since he laid his eyes on her coming out of the pond river of darkness just opposite his river of light, he knew just then he has found his soulmate.

Aveline had no interest in anything nor any interest if the magical creatures stayed in the Isle of Pathways, but because Aldon became selfish he suggested the magical creatures should find their path and make sure their cycle remained... so the ’Soulmate Blessing’ was bestowed upon them for goodwill to preserve balance and prosperity.

Even though it was a wrong thing, or a bad thing, whatever Aldon did was considered right, because that was the nature of Aldon.

Now they were left alone and little work remained and Aldon knew when their duties were over they would leave this world.

"Aveline" Aldon began turning to the Aveline seated beside him, he gulped as he gazed upon her beauty. She was just too perfect for this world, too perfect for her nature, and he hadn’t realized it until now, just how deep he had fallen.

"Yes," she answered simply by watching the clouds.

"Do you like the world?"

"Like is a strong word Aldon, I merely exist for balance" She faces him with her dead gaze. "That is only what we exist for, yin and Yang, we cannot be swayed with desire or any interest at all, The Isle of Pathways birthed us for a purpose and that is balance, we live only by that"

Aldon gulped at her words, she was always one with the lecture and always remaining him not to be swayed away from their purpose for it was their purpose that reunites them.

"But what if we wanted more? It is not wrong to want, is it?" Aldon asked with a trembling gaze awaiting her response. Because he knew everything he feels for Aveline was a contradiction to what they were born for.

It was a disaster.

Aveline stared into space pondering about his words and then leveled her gaze back to Aldon’s. "What do you want, Aldon?" she found herself asking because she felt he wanted to say more.

Her question caught him off guard so he was silent, the words hanging in his throat. "I want..." He couldn’t finish and only kept his gaze on her, they leveled and found her hand resting on the grass and the sudden desire to touch it, to feel her hand against his and more greedily to feel her lips on his.

"Do you know what happens when a spirit such as yourself gets possessed by worldly things?" Aveline said. "You destroy your nature and you lose balance. You must remain my light and I shall remain your darkness until our last time existing"

"Is that only what we’re meant to be? Just light and darkness?"

Aveline said nothing as she rose to her feet. "That was what we were born for" she finalized, turning to walk away.

"But I love you, Aveline!"

She instantly stopped her steps at his sudden outburst.

"I loved you the moment I set my eyes on you, I have watched you and even though you do not feel anything I love you" he broke into tears, letting his feelings out, a feeling he had kept in his heart and he wasn’t sure he could hold it anymore. He knew he shouldn’t feel this way, he knew he shouldn’t be tied to worldly desires, but... Aveline has occupied a space in his heart. A space that can never be covered without her.

His love for her was a disaster, but he didn’t care.

"There is something wrong with me, isn’t it? I shouldn’t feel but yet I..." he broke.

"There is nothing wrong with you, Aldon"

He raised his teary gaze to her, but he couldn’t see her face because she had her back facing him.

"It is not wrong to feel or have desires, even though we’re spirits I guess some fraction of humanity still lies with us"

"Aveline"

"I’m sorry Aldon" She turns to him without a flick of emotion. "I cannot love you... what I want only is to never exist, I’m tired and this world drains me, we have completed our duties"

"Even if it means we won’t be together anymore? Not seeing each other again? You will choose to not exist rather than be with me? You would choose your nature over me?"

"Aldon" she began but he didn’t let her.

He shook his head. "I will not let it happen, I will not just let you fade away" he took her hand and Aveline gasped at the sudden gesture. "You have to love me, Aveline! We’re the balance, it doesn’t have to be friendship, we can be more"
