Chapter 161: The Story Of Yin And The Fox Guardian {9}

The wind blew against Aveline’s features, her vermilion eyes focused on the sight before her, a view that liked like heaven, with floating mountains on the skies stretching for miles, and clouds misting around the area, you could hear the high-pitched whistling sound of the eagles gracing the skies.

Aveline stood in the midst of this divine view, her black gown flapping around with the wind, one would look at this mythical scenery with much delight for that was given because the view was enough to lift one’s spirit. But Aveline’s eyes were dead to it, her eyes lifeless as she looked at everything the glory itself has to offer with nothing but a cold look.

’This world is a curse’ she thought, her voice echoing in her own head as she revolted everything that lay in view. The magic it held enough to soothe one feeling was lost gravelly to her, the ability to feel was nothing to her. She knew only balance and what she was meant to do.

She closed her eyes. ’Anything to never be in this world again’

Aveline gasped awake just as the memory stormed through her head. Her ears rang and she could barely hear anything for two minutes. But using that time she was able to force her body to sit up and hold her head just as the ringing sounds prolonged. Aveline needed no one to tell her for she knew what she saw was her past life as a yin energy in the beginning.

She could hardly believe that was her, because her past self gave off the feeling of lost expectancy and revolting everything around her like the very happiness had slipped from her grasp, far away from reach and the only thing holding her was just her two feet.

A complete opposite of what she is now... the very definition of darkness without no light.

A weak neigh sound caught her attention and the ringing sounds finally ceased and it was like the world itself started spinning. At the sound, she turned to her left and panic filled her lungs.

"Star!" she yelled, crawling weakly to her white horse. "No no no no!" she placed her hand on her mane gently soothing her as tears leaked from her eyes. "I shouldn’t have brought you here," she cried. "I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry"

Star neighs weakly and blinked and Aveline looked into her black eyes, and a message was conveyed that only she could hear. And she felt it, Star didn’t regret coming with her and she was happy to ride along until her last breath.

Aveline said a prayer to her in Elven language, being with her until she drew her last breath, and Star began evaporating into shiny lights, ceasing to exist completely, her life force extinguishing. Aveline cried all through watching her childhood friend go away.

She broke more in tears holding her chest and mourning the loss of Star. It took over an hour until Aveline’s eyes scanned the foreign area she was in, is this snow?

Everything was covered in it. Aveline was certain that in the Elven woods, it rarely snows and it was always the warm weather. Before passing through the barrier Aveline cast a spell that would lead her to the Grimoire she sought, a Grimoire she was certain was in the holy library.

In the past back when was she yin energy, Aldon explained that they guarded a large part of cruelty and embodied them in Grimoires but there was a particular one, the very one that hold spells not even the devil should know, it was inbound by half of the cruelty at large other than the rest of the spell books. Given to Basker to lock away so that it doesn’t reach any wrong hands.

Aveline was completely sure of that particular Grimoire in the Holy Library because that was where they sealed it along with the rest. So where was this place? Covered in snow. This was not the Elven woods.

The moment Aveline rose to her feet she fell to her knees as a sharp pain found her chest, she could feel it, she is slowly dying but that doesn’t mean she cannot hold on longer, she can and she will until she finds the Dark Grimoire and open this journal, only that Grimoire can open all secrets, the spell was within.

Aveline’s head was jammed with many thoughts, the Dark Grimoire should be in the library for safekeeping so why was it out here? In this strange place covered in snow, having the most beautiful of forestation, spreading for miles and miles, just how big is this Realm? At the top of the valley Aveline suddenly gasped as she took in all the view with her eyes. Yes Aethel was beautiful and unique but this place? It was breathtaking.

Houses spread over for miles and miles, in a pattern of a snowflake and she could tell from this angle due to its bird view. The houses were built in a Kominka house style, Aveline knew of this because of the books William read to her and the pictures they saw together.

William

Just the mere thought of him got her heart aching, she couldn’t wait to see him and all she thought about was him as she stepped into the border but yet she landed here, in a civilization she doesn’t know about. But there was no time to waste, she needed to find out where she was, so she descended the valley into the town.

Aveline made sure her ears were covered under the hood of her cloak, drawing attention to herself wasn’t something she needed right now. She couldn’t take her eyes off the busy town, everyone ongoing their activities, either selling, talking, or the kids playing, there was something off about these people here, their aura, it gave off a feeling she can’t describe.

Aveline spots an old woman who sells fruits and thought it would be a good idea to approach her since she was alone.

"Um hello?"

The old woman darted her gray eyes to her, "Yes? Can I help you, young lady? Tell me which do you want?" She instantly rose to her feet, Aveline was about to tell her she wasn’t here to buy something but the old woman was chatty. "Forgive the weather I know it’s cold and you look so pale so I guess you are a traveler. You know everyone anticipates weather like this, the Emperor’s mood works with it and sometimes we’re blessed with the cold..."

"Emperor?"

"Ha yes, this mostly happens when he isn’t near his Empress, if she is away with guiding the magical animals she rules he gets moody and thus the weather changes drastically, it has been years, and yet their love is as cold and hot at the same time" she chuckled shaking her head.

So there is an Emperor and Empress here, That was what Aveline was able to conclude, and now that she mentioned it she did sight a castle, one that was bigger than anything she has ever seen, like a kingdom itself.

"That’s nice to hear," Aveline said with a smile on her lips. "But what is this realm?"

"The Darkmore Realm of course"

"The Darkmore Realm?"

"Hmm you’re definitely a traveler, this is the home of vampires and magical animals created by the Emperor and Empress"

Aveline’s eyes went wide. "V-Vampires?" She has only heard of them and never seen one, she knew William was part Vampire because of a day she fell out of a tree being careless and she bled, William’s fangs dropped instantly, he avoided her the rest of the day and Aveline thought she had done something wrong.

"Why are you as pale as a ghost child?

"N-Nothing! Thank you for the information, and I’m sorry that I have no money"

"It’s alright, here, you look like you would need something to eat, eat this and explore the town, it’s very welcoming to travelers"

"T-Thank you," Aveline said with a sweet smile on her lips as she took the apple from the kind lady. She mirrored her expression.

Aveline continued walking through the town, chewing on the last bit of apple, this was why she felt a strange aura, everyone here was basically vampires, it was very fascinating indeed.

But this was getting Aveline nowhere, she needed to find a way to locate the Dark Grimoire, she would have to trace it again, but tracing it will only weaken her further.

’I can bear it’ she thought to herself, she needed enough time to find out the contents of the Journal and find a way to get back to William. Yes, she will get back to him in her real body, and spend every bit of her last time with him.

Making sure she was in a secluded area, she concentrated and closed her eyes, allowing her aura to pulse around her body like a beckon calling to the Dark Grimoire.

The Darkmore Castle

Emperor Magnus Nicklaus Darkmore paused instantly and his attention diverted from the scrolls he went through as he felt an energy call to him... more importantly, calling for something else that belonged to him, his Dark Grimore, he could feel the darkness emerging and alerting him.

"My liege, is something wrong?"

Nicklaus darted his green eyes to Bartholomew, his royal adviser watching him with puzzled eyes.

A smirk pulled at the corner of his lips and Bartholomew instantly froze because it was a rare case for the Emperor to smile, only the Empress could manage such a thing from the Vampire god.

What could have enticed him now?
