Chapter 122: The Consequence Of What You Did

¤●¤

This was a sight William could not handle, watching his mate succumb to such pain, a pain he could not understand, a pain that confused him and at the same time shattered him. What could be the cause of it? To the point, she pushes him away and yells at him, telling him to leave her be.

Hells! When he heard her screams he wanted so badly to barge into the room, to hold her and kiss her tears away and softly tell her that everything will be okay, but all he did was stand by the door all night waiting, But the urge overcame him.

Even now he wanted to hold her, hug her and just stay there until her pain was erased but with the distraught looks in her eyes, she does not want that, she does not want him and it shattered his heart to pieces.

"Why did you abandon me?" Her stern question came, and tears fell, one he wanted to wipe away, but he withheld.

Abandon?

He was about to speak but suddenly he paused and something sparked in his head, forcing him to hold it. It was profound and extreme and that one word was a trigger.

What is this feeling?

"Will you not tell me the truth?"

He darted his eyes at her but he still couldn’t speak, the unusual pain in his head remained, like a migraine but at the same time a split.

"Your words..." She began like a recitation, word for word. "...’ This is your destiny. You must remain here... it is the only way. You might not remember this or before... but know that I will always be here’..." she placed a hand on her chest as she spoke words that struck him.

Struck his very soul

Why does it feel familiar?

"...’This realm will be cruel to you... they will hate you for whatever reason... you will not understand it, you will even pray for death but death will never take you, for-"

"Even you have control over it" he finished the words and it came through naturally, it became nostalgic now and then it dawned on him... those ARE his words.

But when did he say it?

The gasp from Ava distracted him from his thoughts. And the moment he looked into her eyes... everything was gone.

The life in her eyes, the beauty in them, was replaced with something cold, the tears spilling at random.

"I was scared," she began. "Scared if I tell you this it will only be the truth" she broke covering her mouth.

"Av-"

"Was it all a lie"

He came forward and she backed away, and it only intensified the situation.

"It feels like my words but I do not remember saying it... you have to believe me" he added the last part breathlessly as more stupor flooded and worse, fear... the looks that she gave him were lifeless and it scared him.

"Does it matter?" she says. "They really WERE your words"

’"Ava"

"What is real?" she said. "What is the truth?" shook her head. "I do not know anymore... all those words have lost their meaning" She smiled but it wasn’t heartfelt. "Tell me... WERE those your words?"

He can never lie to her, even if he wanted to do so right now so that he would ease the confusion and get to the bottom of this, but she wanted only the truth.

"Yes"

She nodded, wiping her tears with the back of her hand but they kept spilling. "The same man who saved me from my fate was the same time who condemned me to it"

"They ARE my words, I feel it, but Ava... I would never abandon you, I do not remember this and I..." he couldn’t finish because the migraine came again, every single time the word ’abandon’ was used it was like something stirred within him.

"I don’t even know if I should believe your words anymore... you always do things for a reason do you not? Maybe wiping your own memories was an escape from what you did... but you still DID it, you dragged me into hell, and yet you came as my knight in shining armor. Was it all a play?"

He shook his head, his hand trembling, his blood boiling but not of anger but of something else... he could feel her pain, but his state of perplexity and his migraine was clouding every word he wanted to say.

Would she even believe him anymore? When he wasn’t even sure of himself?

So silence was the foolish yet wise option.

She wiped the last bit of her tears and turned on her heels and walked away, he didn’t stop her, he didn’t move until she was out of sight, his breath hitched, his brain split, and his mind obscured.

And before he could respond to the emotions warping in his head, the table was already somersaulting across a distance with a loud smash. His hand on the wall, the other gripping his forehead as the intense migraine continued until there was a ringing sound in his ears.

He has never had a headache, never, this was not something simple, it felt like a trigger and it felt all too excruciating to the point he dropped to his knees.

’You shall know the consequences of what you did!’

That voice in his head came along with the intense migraine, but it wasn’t his... It was Basker’s.

’What they will do to you... I will have no control over it, this is now your fate for I warned you!’

A growl left him because the pain didn’t stop, it began more intense to the point he bared his fangs.

"Master"

It was an echo to his ears, for the ringing never stopped and the pain didn’t cease, he squeezed his eyes shut and then cracky images came. Of heavy rainfall and him carrying a little girl and stopping right out at a building.

Thornwell Orphanage

’You took what was theirs...’

The girl he was holding was Ava.

’And they will bring their wrath!’
