Chapter 43: [The Head Priest, Markus!]

"What did you say?"(Head Priest, Markus)

Noah was alarmed a bit as he saw the serious expression of the head priest, but the next words of the priest surprised him.

"You were rejected? Can you tell me more details about it?"(Head Priest, Markus)

Hearing that, Noah explained about his class in the morning and the number of students in the evening that came a week ago. How he didn’t want to completely lose his helping nature but also wanted to make use of his time to earn some money without sacrificing the knowledge and research prospects.

Obviously he didn’t tell him about his goals in regards with power and authority.

"Hmmm. Strange. I did tell them that if you ever choose to be a professor, at least give you a chance. Did something happened in between?"(Head Priest, Markus)

Markus muttured in a low but audible voice, enough to surprise both Noah and Elios, to which the head priest simply waved it off saying,

"Forget it. Let me write you a recommendation. Though since almost all the classes are already taken, I can only get you an assistant professor’s post. Is that fine with you?"(Head Priest, Markus)

An assistant professor is someone who works under a professor and handles their tasks on a day to day basis. While an assistant professor is the same as a professor in all other regards, they also need to report their work and tasks to their assigned professor on a timely basis.

If Noah ended up being under a lazy but prideful professor, he can even kiss his free time goodbye. And that... needed to be addressed.

But before Noah can even raise his voice...

"All right. Here is the recommendation letter. As for the professor you are going to be working under, I have decided to be Ameliana. I suppose it will also be helpful to her since she doesn’t have anyone to help with her given her special circumstances."(Head priest, Markus)

Noah, a bit surprised, looked at that recommendation letter, and indeed miss Ameliana’s name was written there as a professor. Her subject of teaching was...

Principles of Water Magic and its elemental application.

’Water Magic?’(Noah)

[She was a dual mage?!](Elios)

"Ho. It seems like you didn’t know. Miss Ameliana is quite a famous professor of our Educational Institute. I hope you help her out as much as you can."(Head Priest, Markus)

"Thank you."(Noah)

The head priest simply smiled before Noah moved away from the room, leaving the office alone again. The head priest’s smile slowly vanished as a sigh replaced in its place.

"Seems like the corruption has spread within the University as well. I can only hope it gets solved with this kind kid being there... I can’t control everything... but lending the kid help once in a while won’t be too bad, would it?"(Head Priest, Markus)

And then a slight smile appeared on Markus’ face as he seemed to have found something worth enjoying once again.

Unaware of the headmaster’s intention, Noah looked at the letter of recommendation with a slight smile. While he would have loved to have a proper professor’s position, in a way, it was better this way.

Studying under Miss Ameliana will allow him to save time teaching at night and finish extra work at midnight. With that, he can push his gym and training to the morning even and start to shape his schedule properly.

With that, Noah then kept that letter in his pocket before moving to Yuna’s office, getting another 100 quests as usual. Though...

For some reason, the tasks that he got this time were more complex than before. If the previous tasks were simply healing minor scars or some sleeping problems, the tasks this time were healing a severe stomach ache and a fever that had gone beyond 4th day.

He looked at Yuna for answers but she simply pressed her smile without any answer.

"Well. It doesn’t matter."(Noah)

Noah spoke before moving away from there.

While Yuna didn’t say anything, she had a rough idea to why the tasks were more complex than before. And she believed, the reason behind that was Noah himself. The fact that he was doing all that work for free, his name had gotten through to many of the commoners within the city.

And since he was a kind and naive priest, some thought of testing if they can get the harder tasks for free as well. It would have normally not worked, but as coincidence had it, the number of common tasks from the area where Noah had to take up the tasks today only number about 30 or so, hence the other free complex tasks got bundled along with it.

A normal acolyte would have simply rejected it seeing the complexity of the task, but Noah accepted it without any problem. Which in a way was odd in itself. But since he didn’t say anything, Yuna also kept quiet for her own reasons this time.

As Noah went out, Yuna sighed before a focused smile formed on her face as she mumbled.

"Just a few more days, and I will make sure the authorities are forced to give me what I want. It’s sad that it has been delayed so long but I can finally help you out with your work, Elios."(Yuna)

Not knowing what Yuna was planning for him, Noah got into the bus before his eyes looked at his system once again. It had been only a week of training, but there were some visible changes on the system now.
