Chapter 87: Chapter 87
All the cheers and good atmosphere vanished in an instant. The camera moved towards Madeline, who looked pissed.
"Do you not like the result, Madeline?" Tia asked as she wanted to fish more drama out of this girl.
And naturally, Madeline served her role as the bad guy in this game. "I saved Jasmin twice in a row, and you simply allowed her to win?"
"She won the game fair and square," Tia said. "Besides, your food doesn’t seem... edible."
"How about I shove that plate up in your ass and see if it’s edible," Madeline sneered. "All of you picked this cooking game because you want me to lose, right?"
"No, everything has been prepared beforehand, Madeline," Tia said with a mocking smile. "Please don’t be a sore loser."
"Sore loser?!" Madeline’s eyes bulged. "You—!"
"Madeline, it’s fine." Zane hugged her, trying to stop her from attacking Tia.
Meanwhile, Jasmin wondered if this was Madeline in action or if she was really pissed because she lost the game.
She got worried.
The money was nice, but she did not want to ruin her friendship with Madeline.
Jasmin was genuinely fond of Madeline, and if the money would only ruin their friendship...
"Madeline, if you want, I can just give the prize to you," Jasmin offered. She tried approaching Madeline, saying, "You are my friend. I don’t need the money if it only makes you hate me."
Madeline’s body stiffened when Jasmin tried to hug her. It seemed the anxiety on Jasmin’s face was real; she must’ve genuinely thought Madeline was angry.
Thus, before Jasmin could hug her, she pushed her friend until Jasmin was forced to take a few steps back. "M—Madeline? Girl?"
"Congratulations on your win or whatever," Madeline said antagonistically. "But this is fucking unfair, and you know I’m right."
Jasmin was on the verge of tears when she saw Madeline rejecting her, and honestly, Madeline almost broke her acting, seeing how heartbroken Jasmin looked.
But she quickly turned around and said, "I don’t care about this reality show anymore. Bye."
Madeline stomped as she walked out of the set, with Zane going after her.
Valerie told the cameramen to focus back on the winner, as Madeline had finished her job.
"O...okay, that doesn’t end well," Tia said. "But congratulations to Jasmin and Russel. You two win one million dollars and also a full-month trip across Southeast Asia! Whooo!"
Russel and Jasmin didn’t look too happy, especially Jasmin, who was holding her tears.
Meanwhile, Madeline walked towards Lance but ignored him completely. She walked past him and stood behind them as she was out of the camera.
"Madeline, I—" Zane tried to talk to Madeline, who also ignored him, but his arm was suddenly clenched by Lance, who glared at him.
"Don’t you fucking dare to touch my woman," Lance said. "The camera is off. She’s not yours anymore. Has never been yours in the first place."
Zane’s lips thinned. He felt the intense hostility from this man, but that didn’t mean Zane would simply give up.
"She’s not yours anymore the moment you tricked her into joining this god-forsaken reality show, Mr. Grant," Zane said.
Valerie walked towards Madeline’s side and whispered, "Can you break those two? I’m afraid they’d have a death battle anytime soon."
Madeline observed Lance and Zane, who were about to fight while the filming wasn’t over yet. She sighed and walked towards them.
She wrapped her hand around Lance’s arm and said, "Let him go, Mr. Grant. Please don’t make a ruckus while the filming is ongoing."
Lance felt his heart had been stung the moment Madeline referred to him as Mr. Grant.
He shifted his gaze and stared at Madeline.
They hadn’t met in person for about two weeks, and Lance felt that Madeline had become far prettier than before for a mysterious reason.
But that beauty was clouded by the frown on her face, as if she really disliked seeing Lance right now.
The more he stared at her with that displeasure, the angrier and hurt he felt. Lance gritted his teeth. "I am your boyfriend. Did you forget that in just a week?"
"No, Mr. Grant. I am still your girlfriend," Madeline assured. "But I need you to calm down. We can’t make a scene here. Everyone will know that we’re in a relationship."
Madeline almost slipped that ’contractual’ many times because she wasn’t sure if Lance saw her as a mere property for his mysterious goal or, rather, a real girlfriend.
But she was more inclined to believe that she was mere property and wanted to keep working for him for his money; it was a fair trade, after all.
Lance slowly released his grip on Zane’s arm and was about to touch Madeline’s cheek when Zane suddenly grabbed Madeline’s hand and yanked her into his embrace.
"Ah!" Madeline shrieked as Zane was a little rough on handling her.
"Z—Zane?"
"I won’t allow you to stay with that kind of scum. Don’t you remember how he put you into many difficult situations? He’s a bastard!"
Lance said nothing at first, but he stared at Zane as if he were dead meat. He took a step forward with his fist clenched, ready to punch Zane, who dared to embrace his woman outside of the filming set.
But Valerie quickly came between them to stop the fight. "Okay, stop this. We’re NOT going to have a stupid fight while the filming is still ongoing!"
Valerie told the staff to continue the filming while Madeline, Lance, and Zane were busy with their own little love world.
Lance pushed Valerie to the side and was about to reach Madeline, whom Zane still hugged tightly.
Zane took another big step while hugging Madeline even tighter.
"Let her go!" Lance yelled right when the crew finished filming the last episode, which made everyone’s eyes quickly shift to those three important figures having a fight.
However, Lance was too busy worrying about Madeline’s safety to care about everyone’s eyes.
