Chapter 85: Chapter 85

Lance followed Valerie and stood at the side, next to the cameras, watching the final game of Summer Heat Lovers.

Madeline glanced at Lance before the camera started rolling, and she raised her brow provocatively as she leaned even deeper into Zane’s embrace.

Lane wasn’t exactly a secretive person. He wore his emotion on his face, so Madeline knew how pissed he got seeing her with Zane.

Thus, Tia stood with the judge, and her smile returned after the camera started rolling: "Welcome, future winners~ Today is a very special day! We will have our final game on this beautiful private beach in Canggu Resort!"

Everyone clapped as it was part of the default script. Then Tia introduced the judge: "Today we have a very special judge, Chef Wayan Surya Jaya, the owner of the Michelin star seafood restaurant, Bali’s Trench!"

"Hello, thank you for having me," Chef Wayan smiled at the cast members.

"Now, I will let Chef Wayan explain the final game!" Tia said.

"As you can see here, there are two cooking tables complete with all the utensils and the ingredients in the cooler box. So you are going to cook for the final," Chef Wayan explained. "But what’s the main ingredient? Of course, everything you can find in the sea!"

Chef Wayan pointed at the fishing equipment beside the cooking table and said, "The men must catch their food. It can be fish, oysters, squid, or even lobster. But they absolutely have to do it themselves!"

"And the ladies will have to cook for them using that main ingredient. I will be the judge to determine the winner of this game!" Chef Wayan said.

"Damn," Jasmin glanced at Russel, who looked determined, and asked, "Can you get me something good? I don’t mind any kind, but you can’t just catch random creatures from the shallow water. Most of them are not that appetizing or have any edible parts."

"I will try my best," Russel said firmly.

Zane looked at Madeline and asked, "How about you? Can you cook something?"

"Ugh, do you think I have the time to cook? I have a daily maid that comes to my house and cooks for me, or if I’m too tired, I’d just go to a restaurant or something," Madeline said while rolling her eyes. She looked so pissed because she had to cook. "I don’t even know what those kitchen utensils are."

Of course, Madeline was lying.

She was actually a very good cook. She learned how to cook after her scandal pushed her to stay hidden inside her home, so she had to cook for her family.

But Nathan was naturally the better cook, as he had been cooking alone since he was eleven years old. He was so good and talented at cooking that he should’ve studied to become a chef instead.

But that wasn’t the point.

She needed to lose here, and faking her incompetence was the easiest way.

Meanwhile, Zane smiled at Madeline. He knew that Madeline was faking it, simply because Madeline once told him during their musical drama set that she came from a regular middle-class family just like Zane, so she didn’t grow up as a spoiled little princess.

During their time in the honeymoon bungalow, she also mentioned that she wanted Jasmin to win, so this was part of her plan.

"But you need to catch as many good fish as possible, Zane," Madeline said, rolling her eyes. "I barely know which one is edible, so it’s better to have a lot of choices."

Madeline looked at Zane meaningfully, silently telling him to do his best to protect his image.

Honestly, Zane didn’t really care what people said about him online. But if Madeline wanted that, then so be it.

After all, she had picked him over that scum, Lancelot Grant, at least while the cameras were still rolling.

"Alright, I’ll give you a lot of ingredients to choose from."

Thus, Jasmin and Madeline stood behind the kitchen table while Zane and Russel grabbed the fishing equipment; the men were getting ready to jump into the sea.

"Okay, get set, ready... GO!" Tia blew a whistle, and they rushed into the sea.

Zane was a naturally athletic man. He dashed and dove deeper into the sea, and he used the spear to start catching the fish.

Meanwhile, Russel wasn’t as good or fast as Zane at using a spear, but even the camera could capture how much he tried his best by using the fishing net to catch the fish.

It didn’t take long for Zane to return with two big catches, an octopus and a tuna, both of which he killed using a spear.

He carried them to Madeline and dropped them in the basket to store them. "Do you want more?" Zane asked.

Madeline bit her lower lip. She glanced at Russel, who was struggling to catch something good. She didn’t know how long it would take for Russel to get one good ingredient for Jasmin, so she tried to prolong it.

"Well, you should get me more. I don’t even know what to do with that octopus," Madeline said. "And what is that fish anyway? I’ve never seen one before."

"That’s tuna," Zane chuckled. "Alright, if you say so. It’s been a while since I got real exercise anyway."

Zane went to the sea to spear more fish and returned with two more fish. "These are codfish and grouper. You can make plenty of food with these."

"I GOT THEM!" Russel yelled as he finally got a good enough catch for Jasmin.

He returned while dragging the net and put in the two catches he got after a long time in the sea.

A tuna and a big red lobster.

"I—I got these!" Russel said. His chest heaved as he got exhausted. He didn’t know that catching fish in the sea would be so difficult.

Russel looked at the other side, shocked to see how many fish Zane caught without breaking a sweat.
