Chapter 76: Chapter 76

"You really didn’t sleep with him?" Valerie asked, as if wanting to make sure to repeat what she said.

"Yeah, I didn’t sleep with Zane," Madeline repeated. "I can, and I could have because he keeps trying to take the chance. But other than taking my makeup off in front of him, we did nothing else."

Madeline conveniently left off the information that she had a somewhat sexy jacuzzi time with Zane since that information was irrelevant and a bit too private.

"So why didn’t you seize the opportunity?" Valerie asked. "You have the chance to sleep with the hottest hunk on earth right now. I’d do it if I were you."

"Would you really?" Madeline frowned. In her assessment, Valerie didn’t seem to be the type to sleep with a man just because he was hot.

"Hahah, well, just ignore that. So what’s your reason not to sleep with him?"

’I have a trauma with men. I don’t want to give in to a man I barely know,’ Madeline said in her heart. ’Jon gives me enough trauma not to give my everything to a man that will ruin my life again.’

But that wasn’t a good answer. Nobody wanted a sad story from a skank like her.

Madeline drank her martini in one gulp to gather her courage and stated boldly, "You might be shocked, but I, Madeline Rose, am not a whore who’d sleep with any man, not when I already have a boyfriend."

Valerie had a mysterious smirk as the conversation went according to the best scenario she had in mind.

"I’m sure your boyfriend will be happy to hear that," Valerie said. "Wait, rather than happy, he was probably relieved. He wouldn’t be happy as long as you’re out of this show."

"Don’t tell that to him," Madeline said. However, she didn’t think Valerie could keep her promise. "I want him to think I’ve been sleeping with Zane Eastwood."

"That’d create misunderstandings, right?"

"I don’t care. He has the galls to throw me into the arms of another man. So he has to swallow the bitter lies that I’m sleeping with another man," Madeline declared. The more she imagined about Lance, the more she felt betrayed.

She was angry and petty enough to make him suffer for treating her like this.

"Look, I’m not a love expert. But if you’re doing this, you’re only going to make him angrier. What if he breaks up with you because you slept with another man?" Valerie asked. "You don’t want to lose a money-making machine, right?"

Madeline felt that Lance wouldn’t break up with her just because of this.

They were bound by contract, and it would be an idiotic move of him to let her go after he spent so much money on her.

So, since they were bound together by contract, Madeline wanted fair treatment from her ’boss’ and ’boyfriend.’

"So what? Do you think I lack men?" Madeline said arrogantly. "Lance can break up with me right now, and I will kiss Zane the next second. So if he wants to keep me around, he better treat me right, or I will leave."

The more Madeline spoke about her stance, the more impressed Valerie got.

Something about this woman was fascinating. She understood how Lance could get attracted to someone like Madeline.

’Though, I doubt he even realizes his deep attraction,’ Valerie thought.

"I see. I promise I won’t tell Lance you didn’t sleep with Zane that night. Let him get the taste of his own medicine," Valerie said while reaching into her jeans pocket and pressing something on her phone as if she wanted to end a call.

After making sure they were truly alone, Valerie finally spoke her true intention: "I want to make a deal with you, Madeline."

"And that is?"

"I want you out of the show during the final," Valerie said. "I can’t let you win because the winner of this competition will spend a full month of paid vacation across Southeast Asia and will be followed by the staff to document their sweetness."

"And why can’t I have that?"

"Your boyfriend will go absolutely nuts if you spend a full month with Zane. So you should lose on purpose and let that rich boy have his way," Valerie said. "In exchange, I will personally send you a million dollars as compensation."

Madeline’s eyes widened. "You... will send me one million dollars from your pocket?"

"Yes, it’s a small change compared to all the money Lance had invested in this," Valerie said. "Besides, I’m already rich on my own. I just refused to have my project ruined because he’s throwing a tantrum."

Madeline knew that Lance and Valerie came from two powerful and wealthy families. But she didn’t know the extent of their wealth and connection.

She wondered about it for a moment and asked, "You act like I will win the final game. Who knows? Jasmin and Russel might be able to defeat Zane and me."

"True, there’s no guarantee that you will win. But I want to secure the result," Valerie chuckled. She ordered another drink and said, "Besides, I don’t think you actually need the money, right? One thing Lance doesn’t lack is money. One million dollars is a chump change for him."

Valerie was right. One million dollars was nothing for a man like Lancelot Grant, and Madeline wasn’t actually the type who would spend so much money on unnecessary, vain stuff.

However, she might not like excess, but she still wanted a million dollars in her bank account for a safety net in case Lance got bored of her after a while.

’Besides, I already planned for Jasmin to win this game anyway. So this is a perfect opportunity to get the bag and help my friend.’

Madeline finally made a decision. She smiled at Valerie and stretched her hand, waiting for a handshake. "I don’t mind losing. My boyfriend will be pretty mad if I stay here for too long anyway. So let’s seal the deal, Val."

Valerie shook Madeline’s hand and smiled, "Deal."
