Chapter 64: Chapter 64

"I want to, but I know it’s impossible," Elly replied.

"Impossible?"

"Yeah, you’re on Madeline’s side. That means you’ll save Jasmin because the underdogs flock together," Elly said without a filter. "So your only choice is between me and Bertha. And I’m sure you’ll kick me out of the game, because Bertha is Madeline’s childhood friend."

Elly sneered as she said the last word, "Friend, huh? What a cheap word to say."

Zane smiled meaningfully, "So, if I give you the chance to eliminate someone, who would that be?"

"Honestly? Madeline Rose," Elly replied without hesitation.

"I can’t do that," Zane said. "You know I will never do that, even if she’s not on the winning team."

"You asked me, and I replied based on what I wanted." Elly shrugged.

"I thought you’d nominate Bertha. Since she’s the only woman with the same risk of elimination as you are."

"No, I won’t nominate her," Elly said, rolling her eyes. "Okay, she might be useless most of the time, but she’s still my friend. I won’t betray my friend just to stay in this reality show."

Zane raised his brow.

Elly’s answer was exactly like what Madeline had predicted, but it was still a surprise for Zane because he hadn’t expected Elly to be a better friend than Bertha.

"Well, I got your answer. I think I have made my decision," Zane glanced at the staff and said, "Call Jasmin and Bertha. Line them up in front of them, and I will eliminate one of them."

Bertha and Jasmin walked into the room again. They stood next to Elly, who had resigned to her fate.

Zane saw Elly trying to get support by holding Bertha’s hand. After all, she knew that she would be eliminated, anyway.

It sucked for her because she thought she could stay for a while. Maybe she could even win one million dollars.

"I’ve decided, so I will start by saving one person first," Zane said. He glanced at Jasmin and said, "Jasmin, you should thank Madeline, because she wants me to save you first."

Jasmin chuckled, "Of course, I’ll thank her personally later."

Jasmin looked at Bertha and Elly, then said, "Good luck, girls. I won’t miss any of you."

Jasmin walked out of the room as she was ready to join Madeline, who had just finished her elimination process.

She heard Frankie got eliminated because Ethan betrayed him.

Bertha and Elly stood side by side, holding hands together, as they braced for elimination.

Zane stared at them for a while and asked Elly, "Elly, who did you nominate to get eliminated?"

"Madeline," Elly replied. "I want her out, but that’s impossible."

"Alright," Zane smiled and shifted his gaze at Bertha. "And how about you, Bertha? Who did you nominate to get eliminated?"

Bertha’s blood ran cold when she realized that she had been trapped.

Of course, she couldn’t say she nominated Elly when she was right here with her. She didn’t want to be seen as a traitor.

"I—I nominated Jasmin..." Bertha lied.

Madeline was out of the pool, so she could only say Jasmin since Jasmin wasn’t in this room with them right now.

"Don’t lie, Bertha, that’s not what you said before," Zane said.

Elly turned her head at her friend and asked, "Bertha? I thought you’d nominate Madeline."

"I-I-I—"

"She didn’t nominate Madeline nor Jasmin," Zane said. "She nominated you, Elly Garcia."

"WHAT?!"

Elly stared at her friend in disbelief, "That’s not true, right?"

"O—Of course, that’s not true. I will never nominate you!"

"Do you want me to see the recording? I’m sure the staff have it all recorded," Zane chuckled.

Bertha couldn’t deny it anymore if the staff showed the recording.

Elly saw the change of expression on Bertha’s face, which basically confirmed that Bertha nominated her instead of Jasmin or Madeline.

"I can’t believe you, Bertha. We are friends! I registered with you in this reality show!" Elly yelled. "How could you do this to me?!"

"I—I have no choice!" Bertha tried to defend herself. "It’s Zane. He forced me to pick you, and we know Madeline manipulates Zane. So it’s all Madeline’s fault! She’s always the one who ruins everything!"

Zane chuckled, as it was hilarious to see how everything unfolded precisely according to Madeline’s prediction.

"I was thinking about saving you, Elly, since you are this show’s more popular cast member. But since Bertha nominated you, I guess I have no chance," Zane said. "Elly, I will eliminate you from this show. Goodbye."

Elly gritted her teeth. She glared at Bertha, who was on the verge of tears.

Bertha shook her head and said, "I didn’t mean to..."

Elly pulled her hand and cursed at her friend. "You are a fucking traitor, Bertha."

"I’m sorry..." Bertha lowered her head. "But we’re still friends, right?"

"Friends? HAH!" Elly rolled her eyes. "I fucking despise a traitor. I hope you get eliminated next."

Elly didn’t give Zane a second glance. She simply turned around and walked out of the room by herself.

Bertha stood in silence. She was not sad that she had eliminated Elly.

She was sad because Elly discovered it while they were still in the show.

She planned to ditch Elly anyway, since she wasn’t that useful to her, but now everyone who watched the reality show will see her as a traitor.

"Am I too late for the show?" Madeline barged in after she saw Elly walking out of the room.

Elly didn’t dare glance at Madeline because she realized the real enemy was her friend, Bertha, all along. She was also too ashamed to apologize to Madeline, since she had been nothing but hostile to her.

Madeline strutted towards Zane and sat on his lap like he was part of the throne. She stared at Bertha, who looked disheartened and acted surprised, "Oh my, did you eliminate Elly instead of Bertha?"

"You told me to eliminate the one who didn’t nominate her friend," Zane said.
