Chapter 65: Chapter 65

"So Elly is more loyal as a friend than Bertha? Oh my, who would’ve expected that?" Madeline giggled. "I didn’t know that my childhood friend was a traitor. I totally didn’t see that coming."

Bertha raised her head and glared at Madeline, who was enjoying her time sitting on Zane’s lap.

This bitch.

Even after more than thirteen years, she was still the same nuisance.

Bertha didn’t understand why Madeline was always the center of attention when she was just a shameless, talentless whore who could only get many benefits just by using her face card.

Just like right now, Bertha hated how Zane could easily obey Madeline’s words just because she was pretty and sexy.

Meanwhile, she had to constantly act like a good girl, cute and shy, so people would like her.

"What do you think, Bertha? Do you hate how things have turned out?" Madeline asked. "But hey, at least you saved yourself from elimination, right?"

Bertha was furious at Madeline. But she wasn’t the type to scream and yell like Elly did.

So she squeezed the tears out of the corner of her eyes and said, "What did I do wrong to you, Madeline? Why are you doing this to me?"

"Doing what, exactly?"

"Pitting me against Elly..."

"Zane simply asked which person you wanted to nominate for elimination. You could’ve picked me or Jasmin, but you decided to sacrifice your friend instead," Madeline said. "So I don’t understand your accusation."

"I know you told Zane to ask us, right?" Bertha sobbed. "I didn’t want to be mean to you since you’re my childhood friend, so I nominated Elly instead."

"You could’ve nominated Jasmin, though it won’t make a difference since I’m going to save her anyway," Madeline said.

She got up from Zane’s lap and walked towards Bertha, who was still crying her fake tears out.

She smiled at Bertha and patted her head, "Poor Bertha, if you can’t handle the competition, then I will eliminate you next. So you can go home and have a heart-to-heart conversation with Elly if she ever forgives you."

"Y—You act like you will win the next game..."

"Oh, trust me, I will," Madeline said. Looking over her shoulder, she grinned at Zane. "I have all the means to win in this reality show."

The recording session for the elimination process ended after that. Frankie and Elly had been eliminated, thus leaving only six contestants: Madeline, Jasmin, Bertha, Russel, Ethan, and Zane.

The staff was astonished by how things unfolded. It was obvious that Madeline set everything according to her plan, including ensuring Ethan and Bertha betrayed their partners.

She was the heart of the show, and once they showed the highlight to the Producer, Valerie couldn’t help clicking her tongue in awe.

"She turns this reality show into an interesting game. She’s a great villain," Valerie commented.

If she had a choice, she wanted the show to record Madeline all the time. She wanted to squeeze the mind game and the drama out of Madeline.

"Ugh, why does Lance have to ruin everything? Why can’t he wait for a month?" Valerie complained. The more she thought about Lance, the more annoyed she got.

But in the end, she called the Director and said,

"Squeeze the schedule. Give them no break. I want the finale to end by next week."

"Next week?!" The Director almost had a heart attack. He shook his head, "Finale by next week means the cast members have no chance to interact much, and we have to rush all the games we have prepared."

"I don’t care. It’s better to rush things than to get it canceled," Valerie said. "Our investor is about to pull our funding if we don’t disqualify Madeline, but I don’t want to disqualify her over a stupid reason."

"Stupid reason?"

"The detail isn’t important," Valerie brushed up on the topic. "Start the second game by tomorrow morning."

The Director could only agree and hung up the call, preparing for the next game.

Beep.

Valerie took a deep breath, "I will have to cut the episode from ten to five at this point. Maybe I can stretch it to seven if it’s possible."

"Ugh, if only he’s not such an ass," Valerie cursed her cousin.

But in the end, she was powerless against him because he funded everything. So, she had no say in the end.

Zane escorted Madeline back to her bungalow. They were holding hands the whole time, followed by a cameraman who filmed their intimacy.

"So, we’re here," Zane said as they stood in front of her bungalow. "Too bad, I want to spend more time with you."

"We can always spend more time tomorrow," Madeline said with a smile. She tried to pull her hand, but Zane was still holding it tight. "Zane?"

"Can you kiss me before I let go?" he asked.

Madeline’s lips twitched. She didn’t like having to kiss Zane when it was unnecessary, so she wanted to reject him.

But when she saw the cameraman was still filming, she finally gave her a quick kiss on the lips so Zane would let her go, "You’re so needy, Zane."

"I can’t get enough of you," Zane chuckled. "Thanks for the kiss."

Madeline watched Zane, who walked back to his bungalow. She wouldn’t lie that Zane was indeed very attractive.

He was handsome and kind.

But there was something that made Madeline feel like something was missing.

Because whenever she was intimate with Zane in this reality show, she always wondered what kind of reaction Lance made.

She doubted that Lance’s drunken reaction was real. People could do stupid things when they were drunk.

So what she wanted was to see Lance’s reaction.

’Will he get angry at me for kissing Zane?’ Madeline wondered. ’Or will he simply ignore me? I’m just a contract girlfriend, after all.’

Honestly, she wasn’t sure what kind of reaction she wanted from Lance.

But any reaction was better than none at all.

Because she was still bitter about Lance, who set her up for failure in this reality show, she wanted him to grovel and cry while apologizing.

’Eh, I think that’s just impossible. I’m talking about Lancelot Grant, after all.’
