Chapter 62: Chapter 62
Russel left after Madeline told him to. It was only a three-minute talk with him, but Madeline already had her decision in mind.
"Next," Madeline instructed, and Frankie walked.
He looked bitter as he stood in front of Madeline. He didn’t even bother to greet her.
"Are you going to beg?" Madeline asked. She glanced at her feet and said, "If you kiss my feet right now, I will save you."
"And eliminate Ethan?"
"You guessed it," Madeline chuckled. "I mean, what choice do I have? It’s either you or Ethan. Remember, we don’t have many people in this reality show?"
"You can always eliminate Russel. I’m sure he has no use in this show," Frankie said. "He’s not useful to anyone, and he’s forgettable. On top of that, he is not funny at all."
"We’re here to find love and win a million dollars, not to find the biggest comedian," Madeline said. "But if you think this is a comedy show, I have something that will surprise you."
"Surprise me?" Frankie got suspicious. Knowing how much of a snake Madeline was, he knew nothing good would come out of her mouth.
"Yes, I have a practical joke I want to do right now," Madeline said. She shifted her gaze at the staff and said, "Call Ethan, let him in."
"But you’re not done yet with Frankie," the staff said.
"No, I want them both in front of me. Now."
Madeline’s words were like an ultimatum, so the staff quickly called Ethan to enter the room with his husband.
Ethan’s expression was even more sour than Frankie’s. He stood in front of Madeline with his head up, not wanting to bow down to her.
"Why are you calling us both at the same time?" Ethan asked suspiciously. "What kind of dirty trick do you have in mind, Madeline?"
"Why are you so negative towards me? I’m hurt," Madeline chuckled. "Anyway, I let you two stand side by side because you two are married, and I’m not cruel enough to separate a married couple."
Both Ethan and Frankie didn’t believe her, but they didn’t want to beg. They had promised each other to win the next game and kick Madeline instantly if one of them got eliminated by her.
"So what do you want? I don’t have time to beg, nor do I have to listen to your useless mouth," Ethan sneered. "You’re nothing but a parasite. If it weren’t for Zane, we would have won."
"But you’re here now, standing side by side as I am ready to eliminate one of you," Madeline smiled. "Now, let’s cut to the chase. I am too softhearted and kind to make someone cry, so we will have a fun game, and the one who loses will be eliminated."
Frankie and Ethan had a bad feeling about this. They watched how Madeline leaned on the chair and said, "Let’s play rock-paper-scissors."
Everyone in the room was shocked.
"Rock-paper-scissors?"
"Yes, I don’t have the heart to eliminate a pair of lovebirds. So I’ll let them eliminate themselves," Madeline said. "Now, go on. You can start anytime you want."
"That’s so unfair! How could you pit us against each other like this?!" Ethan turned his head towards the staff and protested. "Why are you guys allowing this shit? This evil witch is breaking the rules!"
The staff shook his head, "There are no rules against it. So she’s allowed to do that."
"What in the—"
"Ahahaha!" Madeline laughed as she saw how the blood quickly drained out of Frankie and Ethan’s bodies. "Can you guys hurry up? I can’t wait here all day."
Ethan and Frankie looked at each other, then asked Madeline, "Give us five minutes to discuss this in private."
"I don’t mind. I’m sure you two will come to an agreement in no time," Madeline said.
Ethan and Frankie took a few steps back from Madeline to discuss their next steps.
They intertwined their fingers, trying to gain strength against that evil witch.
They leaned closer and began to whisper so Madeline wouldn’t hear them.
"What should we do, honey?" Ethan asked. "She wants to pit us against each other."
"Don’t worry, let’s set this up," Frankie said. "I want you to pick paper, and I will pick scissors to win the game. I will avenge your elimination after this."
"Huh?" Ethan frowned. "Why’s the first thing on your mind is to sacrifice me? Why don’t you lose instead so I can avenge you?"
"Don’t be unreasonable, honey," Frankie sighed. "You’re not good with sport, and I’m also far smarter than you. You will lose the game again, and we will get eliminated back to back."
"You’re looking down on me," Ethan said. He was so mad, but he kept his expression flat to ensure his husband didn’t know how angry and humiliated he was.
"I’m not looking down on you. I’m just stating facts," Frankie insisted. "Now be a good boy and give me paper, okay? I will do scissors and avenge you on the next game."
"... okay," Ethan pouted.
They walked back to Madeline, who was watching them with maliciousness in her eyes. She asked them, "Have you guys decided which one will win?"
"Shut up, just be done with this whole thing," Frankie said. "I can’t wait to kick you out in the next game."
"If you can," Madeline shrugged. "Go do rock-paper-scissors. I can’t wait anymore."
Frankie and Ethan stood face-to-face. Frankie nodded at Ethan, and the latter also did the same, as if he were assuring Frankie that he would pick paper.
Frankie and Ethan started the cue, "Rock, paper, scissors!"
...
"What in the—?!" Frankie’s eyes widened, seeing that Ethan had picked a rock instead of paper. "Ethan, what are you doing?!"
"You looked down on me," Ethan pouted. "I’m also as good as you. I can win the next game, I swear!"
"No, no!" Frankie looked at Madeline and said, "Let us do it again!"
Madeline laughed as she saw the horror in Frankie’s eyes, "Can’t do. Ethan wins, so I will eliminate you, Frankie."
