Chapter 49: Chapter 49

Lance’s smile turned into a frown, and his displeasure was so obvious that he quickly drank a big gulp of wine from the bottle just to relax a little.

Unfortunately, he didn’t get any relaxation from the wine. It only made him feel even shittier, and the more he drank, the angrier he got while watching the video.

"Fuck! Why are you picking him as your partner?!" Lance cursed when he saw Madeline grab Zane’s shirt and yank him until the tip of their noses almost touched.

Madeline was like a seductive vixen that hypnotized Zane to do all of her bidding, and the man simply said yes to everything she ordered, including winning the game for her in exchange for a kiss.

"WHY THE FUCK DO YOU NEED TO KISS HIM?!" Lance yelled loudly. He was drunk at this point as he kept drinking and drinking out of anger.

His tipping point was when Madeline and Zane did a French kiss, and then she dried his hair with a towel. That gesture was so natural as if they were a real pair of lovebirds.

"FUCKING BULLSHIT!" Lance cursed as he popped open another bottle of wine.

Normally, Lance should be glad that Madeline played her villainous role perfectly. She even went as far as making use of an A-list Hollywood actor to do her bidding while she lazed on a sun lounger while drinking a Pina colada.

She was a great actress and an even better villainess because she could turn this disadvantage into her victory.

Lance was awed by her skill, but that awe didn’t last long. Seeing Madeline won by utilizing Zane didn’t make him happy at all, and as he got more drunk, his jealousy began to spiral out of control.

So, he called Valerie to release his anger and jealousy.

"What’s up, Lance?" Valerie said as she picked up the call.

"Where is Maddy?" Lance said.

From the heavy tone that he used, Valerie knew that her cousin was drunk and angry, possibly jealous.

After all, Valerie had already watched the highlights before she sent them to Lance, and she knew goddamn well what the reaction would be.

"Zane won the game yesterday for her. So they are having a date right now," Valerie replied.

"Cancel that date. Take her back to the bungalow," Lance ordered, as if his word was the law. "And kick Zane out of the show. I don’t give a damn if I have to pay for compensation."

"Now, now, take a deep breath. Why are you drinking so much, anyway?" Valerie sighed. "You’re not usually this drunk."

"Why am I drinking so much? Your fucking video got me mad!" Lance yelled on the phone. "Who the fuck set her up to kiss him like that? I never allowed her to kiss someone else other than me!"

"YOU are the one who set it up," Valerie sighed. Just as she expected, he must’ve forgotten about all the heinous plans when he got angry and jealous.

But at least, this had proven her suspicion to be false.

She thought that Lance must’ve been pretending to love Madeline because he had a certain distaste for a woman who had no tact and was controversial.

But his anger basically confirmed that he must’ve been whipped for that woman, for better or worse.

"I don’t give a damn. Don’t let her spend more time with that bastard!" Lance yelled even louder until Valerie had to distance the phone from her ear. "Kick him out, or I will pull all of my funding!"

"You already gave me all of the funding upfront. There’s no way you can pull it out when I already made it all into realization," Valerie said firmly. "Besides, I can’t just halt the production or kick the most important cast member just because you have a drunken rage. Go take a shower or cry yourself to sleep. Your girlfriend is kissing another man because you set her up, you idiot."

"VALERIE! YOU SHOULD BE ON MY SIDE!" Lance never thought that he would be angry at his most favored cousin. They were best friends, so this was probably their first fight.

It was strange for Lance because they were fighting over a woman that he wasn’t even in love with.

But he was too drunk to realize how stupid he was right now. He was also consumed by jealousy and envy, to the point that he wanted to completely destroy his plan.

"Listen, Lance, it’s your goddamn fault. I’m mostly just following your order. I can’t let you pull out the entire reality show, but I will give you a chance to talk with her. How about it?"

Lance wanted more.

If he could, he wanted to ship Madeline back to the United States and think of a better way to promote her without letting her smooch around with Zane.

But all he needed in this drunken rage right now was to hear Madeline’s sweet voice telling him that she worked for him and only him.

That instant gratification would be a good remedy for his anger.

"Fine, let me call her. I want to hear what she has to say."

Valerie rolled her eyes, as she was so done with her reckless cousin. She told him over and over that his heinous plan to make Madeline infamous wouldn’t work well on his behalf, but here he was, regretting his own choice in a drunken rage.

"This will be the last time I’ll ever work professionally with you, Lance. You’re not professional at all when it comes to your girlfriend," Valerie said before she called the staff, who was tailing Madeline and Zane.

Meanwhile, Madeline and Zane were enjoying their time in the Ubud Monkey Forest. It was a strange place for a date, but also unique and fun because they could interact with the monkeys.

"This is probably the most bizarre date I’ve ever experienced in my life," Madeline said as she began to relax while staring at a hill full of monkeys swinging around from one tree to another.
