Chapter 48: Chapter 48

Madeline wore a white summer dress the next day. She looked cute and even cuter with the sun hat made out of straw.

She stood in front of her bungalow, accompanied by Jasmin, who was lazing in a hammock while reading a book.

She glanced at Madeline and asked, "So, how long have you been waiting for him?"

"About fifteen minutes," Madeline replied. "The staff said Zane is still having his interview."

Like other reality shows, they had to do one-by-one interviews that would be aired between the scenes for each episode.

Madeline did hers yesterday, right after everyone left the poolside.

"Do I look good in this?" Madeline asked.

"You look gorgeous, as always," Jasmin replied. "But that thick makeup doesn’t fit your aesthetic. If you don’t wear it, you’ll look absolutely ethereal."

"Oh, let’s be real. I can’t do that," Madeline sighed. "I do make it less dolly than usual, though. It’ll be a long summer day. I don’t want it to melt horribly under the sweat."

"Do you bring your makeup with you?" Jasmin asked. "You can always do a quick touch-up in the bathroom."

"Yup, I have my makeup pouch in my bag," Madeline said.

After a while, Zane finally walked towards their bungalow, followed by a cameraman ready to tail them around for the whole day.

"Have you been waiting long? I’m sorry, the interview is far longer than I expected," Zane said.

"I’m waiting for at least twenty minutes," Madeline said coldly. "I’m on the verge of dropping the date altogether."

The cameraman shook his head disdainfully. This woman was really toxic and arrogant. But she was also the main attraction of this reality show.

Strangely, Zane’s gaze softened, and he grabbed her hand and said, "I’m sorry, okay? I’ll treat you to something on our way."

Madeline expected Zane to argue with her because it would get them more viewers. But his gentleness and patience made it difficult for Madeline to act out.

Thus, she tried to hide her embarrassment by rolling her eyes and saying, "Whatever, let’s go. I don’t want to waste more time."

"Sure thing, babe," Zane chuckled as he walked with Madeline. He held her hand tightly, not wanting to let go, even though Madeline tried to wiggle her hand out.

"Let go, Zane."

"What’s wrong?" Zane asked. "Are you not happy holding my hand?"

"No, my hands are sweaty..." Madeline muttered.

Zane chuckled. "No, it’s mine that is sweaty. Yours are fine."

Madeline bit her lower lip. She melted on the spot when Zane said that. He could’ve just let her go, but he lied and said his hands were sweating instead.

Madeline might be a good actress who would rarely break out of her character. But Zane had successfully broken her mask.

She blushed so red, so she lowered her head instantly.

However, her red ears told Zane that Madeline was getting shy, much to his amusement.

The car had been prepared for them to go. Zane helped Madeline sit first and then followed her to the back seat.

The cameraman sat at the front with the driver, silently shooting the two lovebirds who won the game yesterday.

"Okay, buckle up. Our first stop will be Ubud Monkey Forest," the driver said with a thick Indonesian accent.

Meanwhile, Lance had just finished his work today on the other side of the world.

There were too many meetings he had to attend, and most of them were about the same thing:

The investors wanted Empress Entertainment to be completely swallowed by Silver Line Inc., their parent company.

With that, Lance would be forced to resign and let the CEO of Silver Line, Theodore Grant, take control.

The investor believed Theodore Grant’s far superior connections and logistics would turn Empress Entertainment from a big company into a giant in the entertainment industry.

However, despite all the pressure, Lance refused to do so because he knew damn well what his big brother was trying to do.

’He wants me to resign completely from family businesses and take up that archaic role of Duke of York, doing nothing but attending boring events,’ Lance sneered. ’I can do far more than just being a decoration in a castle.’

Lance was in a terrible mood tonight, but that didn’t stop him from texting Valerie, asking her about his current muse, Madeline Rose.

The first day of shooting had been done yesterday, so they’ve compiled all the highlights of yesterday’s game in a video.

Valerie sent the video via email, so Lance sat on the couch, popped his favorite wine, and drank it straight from the bottle while watching the video.

The first thing he noticed was her perfect figure wearing a two-piece bikini. She covered her lower half with a beach maxi skirt that made her look seductive without being vulgar as well.

Seeing her strutting was enough to rile him up. He felt tight around his crotch, so he unbuckled his belt, ready to rub one out if it was necessary.

Madeline was already a deadly seductress when he was sober, and she looked even more so when his mind began to get corroded by the wine.

Lance watched how Madeline arrogantly argued with all the cast members except Jasmin. Madeline was so conceited that she would definitely be the show’s star from the get-go.

He couldn’t help but smile. He adored her, as he knew that Madeline was acting. She wasn’t this crazy and arrogant bitch that deserved to get stoned to death.

Just with one kiss, Lance already knew Madeline’s true character, and it was freaking cute!

"She’s far sweeter when she’s with me," he muttered.

Lance liked that exclusive feeling. Though he had no intention of taking their contractual relationship a step further, it made him feel in control and special because he was the only one to know Madeline’s true face and personality.

His smile lingered for a while as watching Madeline strangely made him feel at ease.

But that smile vanished when the last cast member walked into the poolside and stole the spotlight immediately.

Lance already called Zane Eastwood’s manager to confirm that Zane and Madeline had nothing to do with each other, and the manager said Zane had never been close with any woman.

Zane has always been dedicated to his acting career. Even his manager thought he was asexual, with no interest in anything other than work and his miscellaneous hobbies.

But the way Zane’s gaze softened when he talked with Madeline was enough to debunk all the answers from the manager.

As a fellow man, Lance knew damn well what kind of gaze Zane has for Madeline.
