Chapter 41: Chapter 41

Zane smiled at her while ignoring the other people around them. "Sorry for being late. The jet lag messed up my sleep schedule."

Madeline was stunned. She kept staring at Zane for a while.

Aside from his handsome looks, that made him very easy on the eyes. Madeline had known Zane far longer than everyone in this set would’ve thought of.

She remembered they were both child singers who played in this small musical drama as two kids who were supposed to have their first puppy love.

Zane was indeed a talented kid. He always had an exceptional talent for acting, though Madeline was much better than him when it came to singing.

Thus, Zane decided to focus on acting when he was only fifteen.

Madeline still remembered that cute boy, who was the same age as her, staring at her with his beautiful puppy eyes and uttering his love for her during the musical drama.

’Well, it’s only in a drama, but I still remember him fondly...’

Unfortunately, they simply got busy with their own activities after that drama, so they lost contact.

This would be the first time they were on the same set after thirteen years.

’I doubt he still remembers me and our small musical drama project back then. So it’s best not to talk with him as a friend,’ Madeline thought. ’Because we’re not even acquainted at this point.’

Madeline took a deep breath as she felt somewhat nostalgic. But she quickly fixed her expression and sneered, "You’re so late. Maybe I should tell the Director to disqualify you for making me wait."

"Hey! Watch your mouth, you shameless bitch!" Elly was the first one to reprimand Madeline. She was a big fan of Zane for his looks and acting. He was a movie emperor and an A-list actor in many magazines. He was even nominated as the sexiest man in the world last year!

This man was THE big shot!

"I’m so sorry this woman is making you uncomfortable, Zane. You’re not late!" Ethan said.

"And we are more than happy to have you here!" Frankie added. He glanced at Madeline, who still maintained her arrogant face, and sneered, "I bet she’s just scared that you’d kick the bitch out of her."

Zane finally shifted his attention to the cast members behind Madeline and said calmly, "A moment, please. I’m talking with Madeline here."

The other cast members zipped their lips instantly, watching as Zane was taking the side of the woman who was talking shit about him.

Zane might wear a smile on his face 99% of the time, but it was quite visible when he wasn’t happy.

And seeing all of them try to defend him and slander Madeline actually made him unhappy.

Zane shifted his gaze back to Madeline and said softly, as if coaxing his darling, "I’m sorry for making you wait. Please don’t kick me. I still want to spend more time with you."

Madeline’s body stiffened. She expected Zane to bark back at her. But he was surprisingly mild in front of her, despite her harsh words.

Her cheeks got a bit red because of his response. So, she turned around and said, "Whatever, I don’t really care about you." She grabbed Jasmin’s hand and said, "Let’s go, let these washed-up losers talk with each other."

Jasmin chuckled. "I heard they served Pina colada for free at that small bar. Let’s get one for us."

Madeline and Jasmin walked away from the rest of the cast members.

Zane’s eyes were glued to Madeline, tracing her from head to toe, and lingered when he saw her smooth curve.

His smile deepened, and his gaze showed a hint of a predator watching his prey for a split second before he turned to talk with the rest of the cast members.

"M—Mr. Eastwood, do you have any affair with Madeline?" Bertha asked.

"Hm? Why do you ask?" Zane asked back, neither confirming nor denying.

"You should know that I’m Madeline’s childhood friend. I love her, but she is really not a good person," Bertha said, her eyes glistening with tears. "I don’t want you to get hurt, Mr. Eastwood. If you want to ask me anything about her, I will tell you."

"You’re her childhood friend? But you two don’t seem close," Zane commented.

"W—Well, that’s because she’s always been mean to me. I’ve been trying to reconnect, but she rejects me..." Bertha lowered her head pitifully.

"Then I don’t need your information. Most of them are probably false anyway," Zane said lightly, still with a smile.

"But she’s really not a good person, Zane," Elly said. "Don’t you hear what she said just now? They called us all washed up losers!"

"If she said so, then maybe she’s right," Zane said calmly.

The other cast members gasped. Elly was the one who got angry the most, to the point that her face was flushed out of anger.

She actually took a walk around the resort last night and saw Zane Eastwood getting escorted by that Assistant Director whom she hadn’t seen this morning.

So she already knew that Zane Eastwood was the new eighth member, living in the same bungalow as Russel Brooks.

Russel didn’t say anything, probably out of respect and fear of getting to Zane’s bad side.

After all, this man was miles more influential than all of them combined. He could’ve complained to the Director about someone, and the Director would have kicked them immediately.

Thus, Elly planned to slowly warm him up, making him see her good side. And then maybe they could have a fling here in Bali.

Zane was an amazing eye candy, and he was also famous and rich worldwide; there was no bad thing about him.

Until he suddenly took Madeline’s side...

Elly wanted to talk with Zane more about Madeline. Maybe this man was just blinded because Madeline was undeniably gorgeous.

Most men are like that. They think with their dicks. Just because Madeline was beautiful, they overlooked the red flags around her and tried to date her!
