She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 245
Chapter 245: Chapter 245
"I’m sure all of you are aware of my public relationship with Madeline Rose, and as much as I want it to be true, I must confess that it was fake," Zane stated firmly. "I forced Madeline into it because I couldn’t bear to let her go. I’ve been in love with her since we were young, and I dedicated my life to being as popular as she was before."
"I thought I finally had a chance after Madeline’s scandal with Jonathan Hale broke out. But instead, she fell in love with another man," Zane said as he darted his eyes at the bastard who sat beside Madeline. "But that man doesn’t deserve Madeline, and I still believe that."
Lance’s expression darkened visibly and everyone who noticed it would get a shiver down their spine. They knew that Zane Eastwood’s popularity was massive, but he was still not a match for the Grant family and their absolute power and influence.
’Zane is digging his own grave,’ were the collective thoughts of the guests right now.
Meanwhile, Madeline stared at him with an indifferent expression.
To claim that she still saw him as a friend, or even a colleague, would be a stretch. Madeline was the one who prevented Lance from completely suppressing Zane’s career and drowned him to obscurity.
Lance could’ve easily stopped Zane from getting any role, especially now that Hot Sensation propelled the company to the top, his influence was stronger than ever amongst the elite.
But Madeline forbade her boyfriend from doing that because Zane had saved her during Summer Heat Lovers.
But other than that, Zane had done numerous things that nearly ruined her life. He was no different from Jon.
Zane’s gaze towards Madeline deepened as he didn’t want to hide his feelings anymore.
He smiled at Madeline and finally dropped the bomb, "I will forever be in love with you, Madeline Rose. I don’t care if I remain unmarried for the rest of my life. You’ve held my heart since we were just ten years old, and I will forever hold on to the hope that we will be together in the future."
"So if that slimy bastard who sits next to you cheats or hurts you in the future, then you can come to me. I will always accept you with open arms," Zane said boldly.
Lance got up from his seat, and everyone tensed as a fight between Lance and Zane seemed inevitable.
Madeline sighed. She grabbed Lance’s wrist and pulled him back to his chair, "Calm down, don’t get baited by his provocation."
"But he is—"
"I know, he’s doing that on purpose," Madeline said.
Lance was still angry, but seeing that Madeline was trying to calm him down, he took a deep breath and returned to his seat.
Zane saw this like a thorn in his eyes. He snorted and walked off the stage. But he didn’t return to his table.
Zane simply walked out from the event, stunning everyone in the crowd.
"Look at that bastard, escaping after making me angry," Lance scoffed. "You shouldn’t think about him, alright? I am obviously a much better choice."
Madeline chuckled.
She had already told Lance many times that she wouldn’t fall in love again if their relationship crashed and burned in the middle.
But Lance was still insecure, scared that Madeline would leave him for Zane, even though that was the last thing she would ever do.
The winners of the other categories were announced one by one until the last category, which would be the most prestigious award for the night.
"Is it finally the Movie of The Year category?" Madeline asked Lance, and the latter looked even more tense, as if it was a matter of life and death
Madeline observed her boyfriend and chuckled, "Relax, Even if we don’t win, I won’t be disappointed. We already got three Oscars," Madeline said as she thought Lance was nervous about who’d receive the award.
But Lance was nervous for a completely different reason.
He held Madeline’s hand tightly, and they waited until the woman who would announce the winner for the category walked to the stage.
Madeline was calm the whole time until a woman walked onto the stage. She gawked as she saw Jasmin Fox, her best friend, holding the envelope.
"Wait, Jasmin?" Madeline murmured. She looked at Lance in confusion. "But she’s a rapper. This is not a Grammy, so she shouldn’t be here."
Lance smiled awkwardly. "W—Well, maybe they are trying out new things. After all, the Grammy and Oscars are like siblings."
Madeline didn’t get the analogy, finding it was too ridiculous to accept.
She darted her eyes back at the stage and saw Jasmin open the session with a small joke.
"Are you surprised that a rapper became the one who announced this category? Believe it or not, I was outside when they dragged me in to make a formal announcement. I think they mistook me for Beyonce," Jasmin said, then she acted surprised. "Oh wait, Beyonce isn’t supposed to be here either."
The crowd laughed, and the tense situation eased. Madeline also laughed. She was glad that Jasmin had washed up her past as a drug addict. She was now shining on the stage.
"We should attend one of her concerts later," Madeline told Lance.
"S—Sure, we can do that," Lance nodded.
Jasmin started the formal event by mentioning all the nominees for the final category.
"And the Oscar for the Movie Of The Year goes to..." Jasmin paused dramatically, then opened the envelope. She smiled and stared at the tense audience in front of her. "This is a great honor for me because the ones who directed this movie are my best friend and her boyfriend."
Madeline’s eyes widened as Jasmin finally announced, "Movie Of The Year goes to Hot Sensation!"
Madeline’s heart jumped when she heard the loud claps from people around her. She looked around in disbelief and then looked at her boyfriend.
"We won..."
Lance smiled. "Yes, babe. We won."
