She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 243
Chapter 243: Chapter 243
Madeline and Lance walked side by side, smiling at people who cheered for them.
They ignored the flurry of camera flashes as they knew they’d be the couple who decorated the headlines on many internet pages and magazines.
They finally stopped in front of a host, who was interviewing the stars, and that host was none other than Oleana from the Oleana Show.
Oleana’s lips twitched, seeing Madeline and Lance together ruined her mood instantly, because these two were not supposed to be together.
Honestly, she still thought of Madeline as a poisonous whore who had no right to be with a perfect man like Lancelot Grant and enjoyed the generational wealth that Lance had.
Even after she watched that Hot Sensation movie, Oleana still thought Madeline’s story was a fabrication to save her reputation.
After all, this bitch had a real fight with an anti-fan in her show. She truly had the guts to do that on live TV rather than accepting the beating, which Oleana thought made sense because she believed that all skanks and mistresses needed to get beaten to death.
Nevertheless, she still had to act professionally in front of Lance and Madeline, despite her innate disgust toward the woman in front of her.
Oleana gave them a perfunctory smile and started a conversation. "Look who we have here, the hot couple of the night, Madeline Rose and Lancelot Grant!"
Madeline smiled back at Oleana, "Thank you so much, Oleana. I didn’t know that you’d take a job as an interviewer today. Isn’t this job a bit too cheap for you?"
Oleana’s smile faltered, but she still tried to maintain her professionalism. "I love interviewing people. That’s why I have a long-running talk show. But enough about me. I’ve heard that Hot Sensation has become a box-office success. Are you excited about tonight?"
Madeline sneered, "Yes, I’m glad people are watching the movie. So they will know that you allowed an anti-fan to attack me on your talk show."
Madeline’s crude answer truly pissed her off. But this was a live interview, so she couldn’t reprimand this bitch who had nothing to lose.
Many people hated Madeline, but she was also well protected by the Grant family, so everyone could only hate her online but couldn’t do anything about her in real life.
"That was in the past, Madeline. Why don’t you tell me about your dress today? It looks stunning!"
"Of course, it’s custom-made by Dior!" Madeline said as she posed for the camera. "I hope you don’t prepare anti-fans anywhere to attack me this time because this dress is too expensive to be ruined!"
"Madeline Rose!" Oleana finally raised her voice when Madeline mentioned what had happened in the past. "Please stay professional; we are doing live reporting!"
"Were you professional when you watched me getting mauled by that crazy woman in your live talk show?" Madeline sneered. "Guess not, huh?"
Oleana knew she couldn’t do anything against Madeline, who had zero shame. So she turned to Lance, who had been watching the whole time, "Mr. Grant, your girlfriend might ruin her career if she keeps speaking rudely to other guests. You need to teach her a few things."
"There’s nothing wrong with what she said," Lance replied. "You did allow her to be attacked on live TV and watched for a while before finally calling the security guards. You should’ve known how humiliating that was for her."
"I—"Oleana couldn’t deny it because everything was recorded on a live talk show.
But at that time, everyone was behind her back because they hated Madeline to the bone. They cheered on her for allowing that crazy anti-fan to attack Madeline.
Lance grinned as he got angry thinking about Madeline, who got attacked. "That’s why your talk’s ratings keep declining every day. Someone like you shouldn’t host a talk show."
Lance’s words had a meaning behind them. Knowing how powerful his family was, it wasn’t surprising if Lance forced Oleana’s parent company to stop airing The Oleana Show.
But Oleana couldn’t accuse him of doing that. So, in the end, she could only stay silent and stare at them hatefully, waiting for them to pass by.
Madeline winked at the camera and said, "Live from Academy Awards, you can see that cheering on someone else’s misfortune is not cool. So, you better do something else than hating on me, or else you’d be as unemployed as Oleana."
Madeline and Lance walked past Oleana, who was too stunned to interview the next guest.
"I like that you stood on your ground against her," Lance commented as they walked into the building. "I was about to reprimand her first if that old woman dares to say something offensive."
"She had it coming," Madeline replied coldly. "I cried when I got attacked on Live TV. It was humiliating."
"Don’t worry, the Oleana Show has been canceled; she will be jobless for the rest of her life," Lance assured, feeling sorry that Madeline had to endure the humiliation alone.
"Mm, thanks for having my back, babe," Madeline giggled. "Now, let’s focus on the awarding ceremony. Who knows? We might just win something."
Lance nodded, but he was nervous for a different reason. He stared at Madeline, who seemed to be in a good mood, so he thought tonight would be the perfect moment to finally pop the question.
They sat at their designated round table and met with George, Olga, and Zane, who had arrived earlier.
Zane stared at Madeline, who looked extra gorgeous today. He wanted to say something, but Lance gave him a death glare, and Madeline simply ignored him. So, he was forced to sit still and stay quiet.
"Miss, you look absolutely radiant today," Olga complimented. "I’m sure you’ll shine on that stage!"
"Olga, please, you can drop the ’Miss’ now. Just call me Madeline, alright?"
"I—well, I can do that in public, but I’ll call you Miss in private because you’re still my boss!" Olga stated.
Madeline didn’t understand Olga’s fascination with her. She already had her own career and no longer needed Madeline’s help.
But it seemed that Olga was eternally grateful for her help and deeply loyal to Madeline.
George stared at Madeline for a while, and Lance gave him a death glare.
"Oh, come on, I’m not going to steal her!" George protested. "I’m simply admiring her beauty. Is that not allowed?"
"Not allowed," Lance replied coldly.
"Tsk, besides, you are going to prop—urk!" George stopped midway when Lance kicked his shin under the table, silently telling him to shut up because it was meant to be a surprise.
The Academy Awards started with a few performances from top singers, comedians, and even dancers, before proceeding to the formal event by announcing the nominees for each category.
Olga held Madeline’s hand tightly, and she felt nervous when it was time for the Best Actress nominees to be mentioned.
She never expected herself to win. She was already grateful to become a nominee in her first film. It was an achievement that even most professional actors and actresses couldn’t have.
But Olga was still a normal human; she got excited when faced with the possibility of winning the best actress category for this year’s Academy Awards.
"And, the Oscars for best actress goes to..." the actor in charge of the announcement opened the envelope. He looked surprised before he leaned towards the mic and said,
"Olga Popov, from the movie Hot Sensation."
The loud claps from the people shocked Olga. She stared at the giant screen that showed a clip of her in the movie she played.
She stared absentmindedly at Madeline and asked, "D—Did I win? Me?"
"Yes! Now go, and accept the award!" Madeline urged as she clapped for Olga’s victory.
Olga walked towards the stage. Her steps were unstable because her knees were so weak. She accepted the award and stood in the middle of the stage, unsure what to say because she didn’t prepare a speech.
Thus, Olga took a deep breath and shifted her gaze to Madeline Rose. Her eyes were full of tears as she started her speech.
"I want to dedicate this award to the woman who gave me a chance to prove myself by casting me as the female lead in a movie about her. Even though I was one of her most dedicated haters back then, she’s the kindest woman I’ve ever known in my life," Olga said, her voice trembling.
"I’ve always believed that a beautiful woman like her wouldn’t even spare a glance at me, let alone extend a helping hand. Yet, even when the world has turned against me, she’s the only one who’s willing to help because she also experienced the same pain that I got."
"This award is for you, Madeline Rose. You’ve shown me that a pretty girl can have a pretty heart, too. I hope you can be the source of inspiration for everyone out there with your life story."
