Chapter 230: Chapter 230

"M—Miss, you’re going to make me a female lead in a movie?!"

"A huge one. The one that will be a box office success the moment it gets released," Madeline added to convince Olga. "So, if this movie becomes a box office success, you will skyrocket as an up-and-coming actress, and you’ll be an A-list celebrity instantly, far more than me when The Last Spring exploded in popularity."

Olga shook her head to deny it. "N—No way, Miss. You’re far too popular! Don’t you know that you already have twenty-five million followers on Instagram right now!"

Honestly, Madeline didn’t care about her social media that much. She only opened it to post a picture of her, Lance, or them being intimate together.

She also rejected any brand offer because she didn’t want to be bound by an unnecessary contract.

IT amused Madeline how much she had changed once she dated Lance. Money mattered less to her now; her priority was protecting their little family.

After all, Lance already gave her everything she could ask for. Even without being the CEO of Empress Entertainment, Lance was still a filthy rich multi-millionaire.

She had been thinking about retiring early and starting a family with Lance, but Lance was so engrossed in his work at the office that she hadn’t had the chance to hint at her willingness to settle down.

’Ah, I need to think about that later. For now, let’s focus on this movie. So I can help the company,’ Madeline thought as she tried to focus.

Madeline got up from the sofa and reminded Olga, "Just remember, don’t go overboard with the plastic surgery. Too much, and you might end up looking like a botched Shrek. You already have a few beautiful features on your own, such as your bright eyes."

Madeline stared into Olga’s eyes and realized that she had that innocence that could portray her innocence perfectly.

"R—Really? Then I’ll follow what you say, Miss," Olga said obediently. "I also know that I can’t get too much surgery. I just want to start anew as a beautiful woman and be accepted by people."

Madeline had a lot to say whenever Olga said that she wished to be accepted by the public. Because Madeline spent more than five years as the most hated woman on earth, and she was supposed to be the ’gorgeous’ one.

But she never knew what Olga went through, so she refrained from commenting on her decision.

"Just let me know when you’ve healed, alright? I’ll take my leave now," Madeline said, making her way to the front door.

Olga followed her from behind, still unsure if she was truly deserving of such an amazing chance to become an actress.

"M—Miss, are you sure you’re not mistaken?" Olga asked once Madeline reached the door.

"Why doyou say that?" Madeline asked.

"I... I just feel like you’re being too kind to me," Olga said. "I haven’t treated you well in the past. I was part of your anti-fan club, mocking you, and even became one of the admins for your hater’s club."

Olga confessed everything, feeling overwhelmed because she thought it was too much for her to accept Madeline’s kindness after being so cruel towards her.

It made her feel scared, wondering if Madeline truly wanted to help her.

Madeline looked over her shoulder and smiled at Olga. "It’s all out of convenience and coincidence. Our paths crossed, and I believe everyone deserves a chance in life, Olga."

"Besides, I’m not giving you the female lead role on a silver platter. If you can’t portray the emotion of the character as I want you to, then I won’t cast you. Professionalism over personal feelings, don’t you think so?"

Olga’s eyes were wet with tears. She was crying because she didn’t know that someone so universally hated like Madeline Rose could be so unexpectedly kind towards someone like her, who had always been insulted simply by existing.

"I understand, Miss. I just can’t believe that you’d give me a chance. This ugly me..."

"You’re not ugly, Olga," Madeline refuted firmly before Olga repeated that self-deprecating remark. "I’ve never seen you ugly, even when we first met. But I don’t understand your struggle, so I have no right to say anything."

"I will still support you on your journey to become more beautiful, but you should know, you’re never ugly," Madeline affirmed. "And anyone who thinks otherwise is simply shallow. Because I see an innocent girl in you who just wants to be given a chance."

Madeline finally left the apartment and closed the door behind her. Her heart was hurting thinking of Olga, who truly believed that she was ugly.

People might call Madeline a whore, a bitch, a skank, et cetera. But no one dared to call her ugly because she was objectively not ugly—far from it.

"But I still suffer in the end, right?" Madeline smiled bitterly. "We all suffer in the end, whether ugly or pretty."

Meanwhile, Olga let her tears wet the bandage on her cheeks. She was in so much joy that she couldn’t even hold back her tears.

"To be given a chance. Yes, that’s all I want this whole time. I just want to be given a chance. I just want to be treated like a normal human being!" Olga said determinedly. "I can’t disappoint Miss Rose. She has given me a chance, and I have to prove to her that I can find my own path as an actress!"

Thus, with her newfound determination, Olga began practicing in front of the mirror. She began recalling all her days as a high school kid and young adult who had a passion for acting.

The only time Olga felt loved was when she got on the stage. Even if she could only play the bad guy because of her ugly face, she still enjoyed it because it made her feel appreciated, accepted, and loved by the audience.

’I want to be loved and appreciated by everyone. So I can’t mess this up. This will be my chance to have a good life.’
