Chapter 23: Chapter 23
Ada drove to Madeline’s house. After parking the car, she popped open the car trunk and took out the shopping bags. Madeline tried to help, but Ada quickly stopped her. "Miss, this is my responsibility. I will bring all of these shopping bags to your room!"
"Thanks," Madeline said, knowing there was no point in trying to help Ada since Ada was so determined to become her bodyguard, driver, and occasional errand girl.
Madeline allowed Ada to enter her house and went straight to her room. She put all of the shopping bags down and took a few steps back before leaving the room.
Ada bowed politely, "I’ll be leaving now, Miss. You can always call me if you need anything."
"Are you sure you don’t want to stay for a while? I can make you a coffee or tea," Madeline offered.
"I don’t think I’m allowed to do that. But thank you for the offer. Now, please excuse me." Ada finally left the house, and Madeline looked through the window as the Rolls Royce drove away from her neighborhood.
Madeline sat on the bed for a while. Her mind was empty because she was still trying to process what was happening. She looked at the luxury shopping bags scattered on her bedroom floor, wondering if all these were necessary.
Of course, she was also a fan of luxury. She loved seeing those cute bags, shoes, and other accessories rich people wore.
But never in her dreams had she ever thought she’d buy so much of these luxurious things, let alone get photographed for such an iconic picture.
She checked her phone, and the trending on all social media was the picture of her strutting through Rodeo Drive wearing a crop top, low-rise jeans, and a pink checkered shirt. She allowed her slim waist and big hips to get photographed, showing how good her body was.
Behind her, Ada was trying her best to carry more than thirty shopping bags.
She read the comment and found out she had a mixed reaction.
*_Commentary.
’This photo is so iconic! She really knows how to attract attention!’
’Look at all of those expensive shopping bags! How much money does she have, anyway?’
’Hah! She’s probably selling her body to a rich, fat guy. She’s a shameless snake, after all!’
’Yep! Stop simping over her! She’s not a good woman!’
*_Commentary end.
Of course, she expected the mixed comments she would get. Some people could look past her scandal, but some would continue pointing their guns at her, ready to fire whenever she made a mistake.
Hell, she could’ve done nothing, and she’d still get insulted.
So it didn’t really bother her.
Besides, that wasn’t her main concern right now. She didn’t know how much she spent at this point because she went overboard with the concept of a Beverly Hills shopping spree.
"Fuck, how about the bill...?" Madeline muttered.
She got worried, thinking that she might’ve spent too much to the point that Lance would get angry at her.
Ada assured Madeline that Lance wouldn’t get angry, but Madeline doubted her statement. After all, no man would be happy to learn that his contract girlfriend spent money like water.
’I have to clarify, or at least apologize. Maybe I can pay him slowly. He demands a refund,’ Madeline thought. ’Maybe I can also sell some of these bags and shoes on eBay or Carousel, so I can cover the cost of my recklessness just now.’
Madeline picked up her phone and scrolled to find his contact, but her finger hovered on the call button.
She was nervous and scared that she might’ve lost her only chance to live better because she wanted to maintain her momentum on social media.
As she was hesitating, her phone suddenly rang, and her heart jumped when she saw the caller’s ID.
’Lancelot Grant’ is calling.
She gulped, wondering if he had caught up to her spending and wanted to revoke their contract.
’Fuck, what should I say? Should I just apologize? Or maybe I should admit everything and ask him to give me time to sell everything first,’ Madeline pondered.
Unfortunately, she had no more time to wonder as her phone continued ringing. So she picked it up.

"H—Hello, Lance."
"I’m currently checking the video and photo of you having a shopping spree on Rodeo Drive," Lance said as he scrolled through social media. He stopped scrolling when he saw the iconic picture of Madeline strutting with the bodyguard following behind, carrying so many shopping bags.
He also saw the picture of Madeline clumsily stumbling on one of the shopping bags as everything was scattered on the ground.
Lance couldn’t help but grin a little. It was entertaining, and Madeline was a perfect mix between sexy and cute.
His eyes trailed and stopped at her waist. She wore low-rise jeans, and his smile deepened. "And I have a complaint."
BA-DUMP!
Madeline’s heart jumped as she panicked, saying, "Look, Lance, I’m sorry for what happened. Can you tell me how much I spent? I will try to sell everything I bought today and refund you."
"Huh?" Lance frowned. "Refund? Why?"
"Y—You said you have a complaint."
"Oh—hahahah!" Lance laughed heartily as it seemed his new contractual girlfriend had a misunderstanding. "No, I’m not angry at you for spending money with that card. I don’t really care how much you spend anyway."
"Then about the complaint?"
"Hm, I dislike how easy it is for people to see you in this outfit, but you’re wearing a formal dress in front of me," Lance said as he slowly caressed Madeline’s hips and waist on his iPad.
His finger stopped, as he just realized what he was doing right now.
He shook his head to clear his mind and said, "Anyway, no need to get so rigid and nervous around me. I hired you as my contractual girlfriend for this purpose."
"S—So, you’re not angry at me? How about the amount of money I spent?"
"I didn’t get any notification of you spending more than five million in a day, so it doesn’t bother me," Lance replied. "I like what you’re doing. Continue spending my money and making waves on the internet, Maddy."
Beep.
