She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 209
Chapter 209: Chapter 209
"I don’t understand what you’re trying to do by making yourself a big red target for that hag," Lance said. "And for sure, I don’t want you to be in danger."
"You know I’ve always loved the spotlight. This is no different. I’m using myself as bait to read what she will do next," Madeline replied, grinning widely. "So you should just relax. Don’t worry, nothing dangerous will happen."
"Madeline! This isn’t a game. You’re not making it any better for my heart!" Lance said desperately, knowing that Madeline wouldn’t listen to him.
The latter chuckled. She got up and drew near Lance. She put her hand on his broad chest and looked into his eyes, saying, "You’re right. I’m vulnerable and weak. So it’s your job to make sure that I’m safe, right? I will make it worth your while, I promise."
Lance’s lips thinned; he knew that was all he could do because Madeline was willful and would do whatever she wanted anyway.
Lance sighed, knowing he couldn’t dissuade her. "I guess you’re right. Just don’t get yourself in a dangerous situation too much, will you? There’s only so much I can do to protect you."
"Aww, is Mr. Grant worried about me? How flattering," Madeline teased, her giggle filling the room.
"I’m not joking, Madeline Rose."
"I know." Madeline stopped laughing and smiled at him. "I promise I’ll ask for your help and protection. Just let me do this, alright?"

Meanwhile, Angel had been waiting in Theodore’s room as she left the ballroom earlier.
Once Theodore entered the room, she blasted him off with questions. "Why didn’t you defend me when your family attacked me?"
"I didn’t see the necessity," Theodore replied curtly before taking off his suit. He always emphasized his appearance and neatness, so it took a moment for him to undress until he only wore trousers. "Besides, you should already expect them to hate you, right? You aren’t young and pretty like Madeline Rose, nor do you sound nice like her."
"How dare you compare me with another woman! I am your fiance! You should always take my side no matter what!"
Theodore sat on the long sofa, staring at Angel with a cold gaze, which he never did before he met Madeline.
"How can I not compare you with her? She has everything that a man asks for, while you... you are old, demanding, and hated by everyone," Theodore stated in a hurtful sentence. "I feel ashamed just thinking about standing next to you at the wedding altar."
"Theodore! Don’t you remember what I taught you when you were young? Love is love! Doesn’t matter if I’m old, you will still love me either way!" Angel insisted.
"Well, maybe I’m wrong, and maybe you’re wrong as well," Theodore said callously. "Look at how Lance and Madeline look good together. I think I deserve to find the right woman."
"You’ve changed after meeting Madeline Rose in person," Angel commented, and Theodore didn’t even try to deny it.
He nodded to confirm her suspicion. "She’s indeed gorgeous and captivating, and I’m sure Lance and George also think the same. We are brothers, after all; we have similar tastes."
Angel thought that Theodore would at least deny her accusation, but this was a true humiliation because it showed that Theodore was just a shallow bastard in the end. He preferred to have a beautiful wife than her, a woman who had been raising him since he was a teenager!
"You ungrateful bastard!" she spat. "Don’t you remember how much I’ve put up with you when you were young?! You used to fawn all over me back then!"
Theodore finally frowned and countered, "No, I didn’t. I never fawned over you. I followed you because my parents told me to obey my siblings’ nanny."
"But it seems that we no longer fit with each other. Turns out I can’t brush off the idea of marrying someone younger, or at least around my age, and I can’t get Madeline off my mind," Theodore said honestly. "So maybe we should separate, Angel. I will break off the engagement and give you money as compensation. Then you can get the hell out of my face."
Angel quickly changed her tone once she realized that Theodore wasn’t lying.
Theodore was her only way out of the rat race, especially now that she was old and wanted to retire lavishly.
"Oh, don’t say that, Theo. You know, I was just upset. All you need to do is to leave me alone for a while, and I’ll be fine again," Angel pleaded, her tone softening. "Please don’t say anything about separation; you know how much we love each other."
"And as for your attraction to Madeline, she’s an actress. She’s meant to be liked by everyone. I’m sure she has a nasty personality when no one is around," Angel added. "Who knows, maybe Lance will leave her once he finds out she’s not as good as what she shows to everyone?"
"If he leaves her, then I’ll marry her instead," Theodore said boldly, infuriating her even more. "But if you can change my family’s opinion and get their approval, I’ll think about our marriage. But for now, I’m unsure if I want to marry you at all."
"W—What do you mean by that? You can’t marry Madeline Rose! She’s taken by your own brother!" Angel said. "I am your only choice!"
"You seem to forget that I am still young and free. I can do anything I want, including finding another woman." Theodore got up from the sofa and walked to the bathroom. Before he entered, he darted his eyes at Angel and said, "And frankly, you’re not pretty enough for me. I deserve a chance with someone like Madeline, at least."
Theodore entered the bathroom and closed the door, leaving Angel shocked.
She gritted her teeth, knowing there was no way out of this problem other than getting rid of the source.
"Alright, you’ve done it, Madeline Rose. I will make sure that Theodore won’t have any more distractions."
