Chapter 207: Chapter 207

Lily and Madeline returned to the ballroom, and as expected, everyone had already sat at a long table with all the food neatly arranged, and the servants were busy pouring wine or any requested drinks for each guest.

Madeline glanced at Lily, and the latter nodded. They separated and sat in their respective seats, with Madeline beside Lance.

"So, how was it? Did you get along with my sister?" Lance asked while drinking a glass of wine. "She’s very prickly and quick to temper after Theodore and Angel got engaged, but trust me, she is very cute and innocent."

"We get along, don’t worry," Madeline smiled. "On top of that, we’ve agreed to work together."

"Work together?" Lance frowned. "Did you two fetch a plan while I wasn’t around? You should tell me about it."

"I don’t need to tell you. You will see a good show soon," Madeline said.

She looked around and found that everyone at this long table was part of the family that Lance mentioned, which consisted of Phoenix Gray’s family, led by Vernon Phoenix Gray, and the Grant family, led by Henry Grant.

So Lance was right when he said he had a somewhat small yet tightly bonded family.

’Perfect. In a tightly bonded family like this, the pressure on Angel will be enormous,’ Madeline smirked as she glanced at Angel, who had a grim face the whole time.

Their eyes accidentally met when Angel looked to her side. Madeline raised her glass towards her with an amicable smile, acting as if they had a good relationship as future in-laws in this family.

Angel’s body stiffened. She gave Madeline a fake smile before looking away. It seemed that Madeline had a good time in this gathering, but not for Angel.

She had a horrible time because nobody wanted to talk to her. Everyone simply ignored her and talked to Theodore instead. They didn’t even respond to her questions, treating her like air.

Meanwhile, Theodore, who used to listen to every one of her rambles, suddenly turned cold towards her. He didn’t even try to appease her when she complained about his family’s attitude towards her.

Back then, he would comfort her, even going as far as yelling at his family for ignoring Angel.

So, what changed him?

’I think I know the answer,’ Angel thought as she glanced at Madeline again. That woman had been enjoying her time, getting all the attention and even a blessing from the head of the family. ’All of that just because she’s young and pretty. These dumb people don’t know how hot I was when I was around Madeline’s age.’

Of course, Angel planned to kick Madeline out of this family. She believed things would’ve returned as usual once Madeline was out of the picture.

’I know about your biggest scandal, Madeline Rose. And I know damn well that you will cheat on Lance once that man comes back into your life,’ Angel thought.

She had already planned it through, and she had also kept an eye on that man.

But she still hadn’t talked to him because she thought Lance would get bored of Madeline eventually.

Who would’ve expected that Lance brought her into the Glassmist castle and paraded her everywhere, proudly claiming that they were lovers and planned to marry sooner or later?

It was humiliating for Angel because everyone accepted Madeline. Even the coldhearted elder, Henry, Kate, Chloe, and Vernon, talked about how adorable she was.

’I guess this means I have to kick her out of this family as soon as possible. This goddamn gathering event needs to end soon, so I can execute it.’

As the guests were busy talking with one another, Lily suddenly stood up from her heat and tapped on the wine glass with a spoon, making a clunking sound that stole everyone’s attention.

"Attention, everyone. I want to say something to my new favorite person!" Lily said energetically, which took everyone by surprise because she hadn’t been this happy and energetic for so long.

Lily observed her surroundings and was satisfied to see everyone’s full attention on her.

Thus, she executed her plan with Madeline Rose.

"Today is the first day for Madeline and me to meet. I thought I would hate her immediately, knowing that an old hag turned my oldest brother against his own family," Lily said while glancing at Theodore and Angel.

Theodore’s eyes darkened, but he said nothing, while Angel gasped immediately.

"But I was wrong. Madeline and I clicked instantly after we had a conversation, and I can’t wait to welcome her to the family," Lily said. She stared at Madeline with such a kind gaze that she fooled everyone at the table. "I can’t speak for everyone, but you and Lance should get married soon."

"I think so too," George suddenly interrupted. "They make a splendid pair."

"Not only do they look good together. They also worked well together," Valerie added.

"I can see the balance between them, yes," Mackenzie said.

"I hosted them in my restaurant before. It was the first time in my life to see Lance genuinely enjoying his date," Cedric said.

Since the kids gave their opinions about Madeline and Lance, Chloe, as one of the elders, finally spoke up. "Oh, Madeline, Kate, and I chatted in the study before. We really like her! Don’t you think so, too, Kate?"

Kate nodded weakly but firmly while smiling at Madeline, "I’m glad she doesn’t try to stop Lance from seeing his family. She has my blessing, and my husband said the same."

"Hm," Henry nodded lightly. "I already gave her my blessing."

"I’m so glad that everyone accepts me," Madeline said with tears. "I was nervous for nothing."

"Oh, you don’t need to be nervous, dear. Lance loves you, and you two look good together," Chloe said. She sneered as she darted her eyes towards Angel, who had stayed silent the whole time. "Didn’t you hear that, Angel? Lance and Madeline look good together. I can’t say the same with you and Theodore, though."
