She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 205
Chapter 205: Chapter 205
Madeline and Lance returned to the ballroom after talking with Lance’s dad. They looked even stickier than before, which raised a question for the other guests in the ballroom.
Cedric was the first to approach them while they were waiting for the dinner to start, and the first thing he said was,
"I heard from Nathan that you two are having a honeymoon in London. So how was it?"
"It wasn’t really a honeymoon," Madeline replied. But then she realized she had been going on a romantic vacation with Lance. They even stayed in that honeymoon suite in a five star hotel in the middle of London. "Well, maybe it was."
"It was fun. Very fun, indeed," Lance grinned perversely, and Madeline elbowed his stomach again.
Cedric chuckled. "By the way, Nathan told me he loves working in the kitchen. I don’t know what’s wrong with him. He must’ve been wired differently because I keep yelling at him whenever he makes a mistake. I feel sorry for that kid sometimes."
"It’s fine. Nathan was the captain of his basketball team in middle school. He’s used to the strict coaching," Madeline replied. "He’s also brutally honest. Since he said he likes it, he is telling the truth."
"I will write a recommendation for him to enter Le Cordon Bleu once he finishes high school. We can’t waste a talent like him," Cedric said. "Anyway, I’m going to talk with my mom. She has been saying crazy things about me not finding the right woman. Maybe she doesn’t understand that I barely have time outside of the restaurant."
Madeline chuckled. "She said the same to me as well. You need to start searching, Cedric."
"Yeah, look at me, and look at how skillful I am to find the right woman," Lance said proudly.
"Come on, we both know you just lucked out on her," Cedric grumbled before he left them.
"He’s right, I guess. I lucked out on you. I already spent my lifetime of luck just to meet you."
"You’re such a sweet talker," Madeline rolled her eyes, but she was secretly happy because she thought she also lucked out on him.
Madeline observed the ballroom, and her eyes met with Lily’s, who glared at her before looking away.
"Your sister doesn’t seem to like me," Madeline whispered to Lance.
"That’s normal. Lily was the closest to Theodore before Angel entered the picture, and Angel’s arrival severed their relationship," Lance replied. "Theodore recently told me that he tried talking with Lily a few times, but she refused. I told him the reason is obvious, but he doesn’t want to listen to my advice."
"And what’s your advice?"
"Break off the engagement with Angel. The solution is so simple, but Theodore has ignored me about that one." Lance sighed. "I think Lily just becomes hyper-vigilant of another woman coming into the family. You know, she doesn’t want another Angel."
Madeline nodded.
She hummed as she had the urge to talk with Lily. She wanted to clarify a few things or at least talk normally with her.
But she was afraid that Lily would blast her off, which would be extremely embarrassing.
Lance noticed Madeline’s lingering gaze on Lily and asked, "Do you want to talk with her?"
"N—No, I shouldn’t—"
"It’s fine. I’ll tell her to have a private talk with you somewhere. I think it’s good for you to understand my family. I want you to be fully accepted by everyone."
"W—Wait, you don’t need to—"
But Lance strode toward his little sister, ignoring Madeline’s plea as he whispered something to Lily, and both darted their eyes simultaneously toward Madeline.
Lily rolled her eyes but obeyed her brother’s request and walked towards Madeline.
"Come with me. We can talk somewhere more private," Lily said coldly.
Madeline looked at her hesitatingly and then looked at Lance.
Lance mouthed the word ’Go,’ then leaned on the wall, smiling at her as if he expected Madeline to find a way around Lily’s heart.
"Do you want to talk with me or not? I’m doing this because Lance asked me," Lily asked again.
"Y—Yes, please lead the way."
Thus, Madeline and Lily walked around the other side of the castle. Madeline got dizzy with all the corridors that looked exactly the same, and she couldn’t hold herself to comment:
"You guys should put a signpost or something so I can navigate through this maze."
Lily didn’t respond at first, but a thin smile slowly formed, and she replied, "Can’t do that. It’s better this way because I like seeing guests getting lost in the castle. It’s funny."
"T—Then, was it funny when I got lost before?"
"No, because you barged into my mom’s study," Lily said, and the thin smile disappeared instantly. She took a turn and opened a door leading to a room at the corner of the castle.
It looked like another study, but instead of old books, it was filled with children’s books and toys.
There were also many toddlers doodling on the stony wall that had probably been there for decades.
"This was a playroom when my brothers and I were young. We used to spend time here all the time until each of us slowly grew up," Lily said as she looked around the playroom. "It’s been long unused, and Colton doesn’t like this place because he’s the only kid in the family right now. I was the last one who stayed in this empty playroom once my brothers grew up."
Lily took her time looking around the playroom. "Though it’s been abandoned, I still told the maids to clean this room every day because I still visited this playroom once or twice. You can say it’s my study room, though I don’t want it to get renovated."
"It has so many memories, don’t you think?" Lily asked as she glanced at Madeline.
Madeline didn’t answer quickly. She also took a good look around before nodding. "I can imagine how chaotic it must have been when Theodore, Lance, and George were young."
