She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 202
Chapter 202: Chapter 202
Henry said nothing for a while. He kept staring at Madeline because he wanted to observe this woman first.
He also didn’t introduce himself. Instead, he commented, "I’ve heard much about you from the maids and butlers I deployed in my son’s mansion. They said that you act like you own the mansion."
"I—I’m sorry, sir. I will do better," Madeline quickly apologized.
"Dad, don’t scare her like that. You should be happy that I didn’t just give her my mansion," Lance defended his girlfriend. "She refused the offer and decided to just stay with me."
"I know that," Henry replied without looking at his son. "I also know that you almost put Empress Entertainment on the brink of bankruptcy with a stunt you did with her."
"That was to break free from Theodore’s grasp. Come on, Dad, don’t make it harder for us. If you just want to intimidate her, we will take our leave."
Lance was about to drag Madeline away from his father, but Madeline didn’t budge from her position.
She thought this was her only chance to convince Henry Grant that she wasn’t like Angel. She knew well that Lance’s father must’ve gotten worried because of what happened to Theodore.
"Mr. Grant, is there something I can do to convince you I won’t take Lance away from his family?" Madeline asked earnestly. "I just want to prove that I stayed with him because I love him, nothing more."
"Babe, you don’t need to say anything to my father. It’s obvious that he’s not ready to meet us," Lance said, but he began to get worried when Madeline didn’t want to leave. "Madeline, let’s leave."
"No, I want to hear your father’s answer first," Madeline insisted.
"You don’t need to prove anything. I just think that you’re unfit for my son. You have too many controversies on the internet, and you’re pulling him into your scandals," Henry said coldly.
"DAD!" Lance snapped. "If you have nothing good to say, then shut the fuck up!"
Madeline took a deep breath. She was so nervous that she thought she could faint on this spot.
But she calmed herself down, and the first thing she said was,
"Lance, apologize to your dad."
"WHAT?!" Lance thought that he heard it wrong. "What the hell are you talking about? He’s insulting you, which means he’s also insulting me!"
"That doesn’t give you the right to curse at your father. Just apologize properly," Madeline insisted.
"Madeline, you—" Lance was left speechless. He glanced at his father, who looked at him coldly, and he reluctantly apologized, "Sorry, Dad. Please don’t insult her like that. You’re making me angry."
Vernon smiled as he looked at Henry, "So, what do you think? Did she pass?"
"She passed the test," Henry said solemnly.
"What test?" Lance asked confusedly.
"You need to be calmer when you need to protect your woman, Lancelot Grant," Henry said. "I was just testing her. I want to see if she will try to separate you from your family. I’ve lost Theodore. I don’t want to lose you as well."
Henry had a thin smile as he nodded approvingly at Madeline, "Your girlfriend is far more perceptive than you. She understood my test immediately."
Madeline let out a relieved sigh. She thought that she was doomed. She acted out of instinct, thinking Henry must’ve been worried sick about this ’new girl’ that Lance brought after Theodore turned against his own family.
"Let me introduce myself properly this time. My name is Henry Grant; I’m the current Master of the Grant family and also the Duke of York. My wife is the Duchess of York, Katherine Grant, and I have four children whom you must’ve known all of them at this point."
"Indeed, I’ve heard a lot about you, both from my trusted informants and the news on the Internet," Henry said. "But I know those rumors are mostly untrue because. If you’re truly the horrible woman they said, Lance wouldn’t be madly in love with you."
"That’s right," Lance smiled proudly as he wanted to show the world how much of a treasure he had in his hand right now. "Madeline is the kindest woman I’ve ever met. It’s unfortunate that fate sometimes puts her in difficult situations."
’And one of those situations is you, Lancelot Grant,’ Madeline thought as she remembered what Lance did in Summer Heat Lovers. But she didn’t want to say it out loud in front of Lance’s father.
Vernon was the first to get up after Henry introduced himself. "Well, I’ll go to the other study room. My wife is waiting for me. See you in the ballroom."
Vernon walked past Madeline and Lance, but before he left, he told Madeline, "I almost forgot. My son has a weakness for a gorgeous lady, so you might consider him, Madeline Rose."
"Damn it, stop promoting him, Uncle Vernon! Cedric can find someone else. But Madeline is mine!" Lance announced possessively, to which Madeline responded with an elbow to his stomach.
Vernon laughed before he left.
"You can wait outside while I’m talking to your girlfriend, Lance," Henry said as he stood up. "I want to talk privately with Madeline."
Lance peered at his father suspiciously. "Promise me that you won’t intimidate her. She’s MY woman, Dad. The least you could do is not scare her off."
"Since when have you become so commanding?" Henry asked sarcastically with a raise of his brow. "I promise. I just want to make sure that she has her priorities straight."
"... alright..." Lance turned towards Madeline and said, "Just scream if my dad dares to yell at you. I’ll be waiting outside."
"Don’t be such a worrywart," Madeline smiled. "Now go."
Lance looked at Madeline reluctantly before he went out and closed the door.
Madeline and Henry stood facing each other. The latter then started the conversation with a simple question;
"Will you leave my son if I give you ten million dollars?"
Madeline frowned. "Sir, I didn’t stay with him just because of his money."
"Fine then, name your price. I’ll write it down in a cheque," Henry said firmly. "You’re far too deep inside his heart. It’s dangerous."
