She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 194
Chapter 194: Chapter 194
Theodore kept his eyes on Empress Entertainment, and after the disastrous pilot episode of Psycho Moth, Lance kept releasing more episodes.
Theodore thought he finally had to do something to save his little brother and the company. However, Lance suddenly texted him a link to Psycho Moth’s review section, so he clicked on it, and his eyes widened.
He saw a bunch of legit professional film and TV show critics giving their honest opinions about Psycho Moth, and all of them had extremely positive reviews, especially the ones with deep connections and great reputations on the internet.
After that, he saw a bunch of movie and TV showgoers giving their honest reviews of the current three episodes that had been released, and their positive ratings eventually bumped the overall rating until it hovered roughly about 56/100.
However, the average person would eventually find out the TV show was great, but it was dragged down by the low ratings of Zane Eastwood’s crazy fangirls.
Theodore couldn’t believe what he just saw. Thus, he called Lance.
—
"Lance, what’s going on? How did you manage to sway all these elite critics giving it a high rating?" Theodore asked. "I don’t think you can pay them to give Psycho Moth a fake rating. After all, they have a reputation to keep, right?"
"I didn’t pay them to give Psycho Moth a positive rating. I paid them to watch and give it a genuine rating and review instead," Lance’s response was unexpected. "I sent those critics the complete episodes of Psycho Moth, so their reviews are unbiased and unfiltered. It is great to pull those movie and TV showgoers to try it."
"Eventually, those regular people will override the boycott and realize the boycott is nothing but a biased campaign against Madeline," Lance added. "It will be a slow growth, but Empress Entertainment will eventually return to its former glory, and perhaps even surpass it within a year, according to my estimation.
"Hmm, it’s working, I see..." Theodore murmured while checking the reviews. He also read a few of those critics’ comments and raised his brow as one of them made a very good point.
’Don’t let your unreasonable hatred towards the actress or actor cloud your judgment. Because you are missing out on a great show.’
After meeting with Madeline in person, Theodore’s suspicion of that woman simply vanished because he knew that Lance and Madeline were indeed in love.
So he had somehow forgotten how much people hated her on the internet.
"How about Madeline Rose?" Theodore asked. "Is she okay with all the hate and boycott? I can help to stop the boycott."
Lance chuckled. He imagined his girlfriend, and his mood eased instantly. "Don’t worry about her. She told me she doesn’t really care about those haters as long as she’s well-protected. But I’m a little worried about her presence during the family gathering."
"Rest assured, there’ll be no press or reporters around the castle. It’s just a regular private gathering for our small family."
"I know, but are you sure our family will be okay with her?" Lance asked. "She’s a good woman, and that’s one of the reasons why I want to stay with her. But I don’t want to give her unnecessary stress if she gets alienated by everyone during the gathering."
Theodore knew that he couldn’t let this opportunity slide. He wanted his family to be one again, including all the siblings.
He wanted his siblings to know he was always supportive, as crazy as it sounded.
"Don’t worry," he assured Lance. "I will personally vouch for her presence. You two are my guests."
Lance grinned, knowing that he could hold onto Theodore’s promise.
"Honestly, big bro, I don’t know what changed you. But I’m glad that you are getting more sensible. All I want is for you to leave me alone," Lance said. "I never want to fight you."
Theodore went silent for a moment.
Honestly, he was also unsure why he got so angry at Lance. All he wanted was to make sure that everything ran smoothly while his mother was fighting cancer.
So he got a bit obsessed with control after that.
"Your retaliation with Madeline woke me up," Theodore said. "I can’t believe you two took a huge risk just to defy me. I find it impressive."
Theodore knew that Lance and Madeline risked everything for this stunt, so he wanted to show an appreciation.
It was also a sign that Lance was serious with Madeline and would probably settle down anytime soon.
Like what their father said back then, a man would do anything, even defy all odds, to be with his loved one.
Theodore thought Angel was his loved one, so he defied his parents—and everyone’s protest and simply got engaged with her.
But seeing Madeline and Lance’s bold actions together, he realized his action wasn’t on the same level as them.
It made him question the depth of his feelings for Angel.
"Anyway, you don’t need to worry about the gathering. All you need to do is to come with Madeline Rose."
"Alright, got it," Lance agreed. "And you don’t need to worry about Empress Entertainment as well. Trust me, big bro."
Beep.
—
Lance ended the call with Theodore, and he looked at Madeline sitting on the sofa, helping him do his work voluntarily by reading those important documents.
"Did you hear what he said just now?"
"Loud and clear," Madeline affirmed. She put down the documents in her hand. "But whether your brother wants me to come, I will still be there to be with you. We’re in this together, right?"
"Absolutely," Lance nodded. "And what about that bastard? Is he still trying to contact you?"
"No," Madeline replied. But she showed a sad smile as she couldn’t hide her sadness. After all, she genuinely admired Zane and wanted to be his friend or at least an acquaintance. "I don’t think he will ever contact me again. Not after I embarrass him in front of his fans, and that’s for the best, right? He needs another woman who would accept his love."
