Chapter 193: Chapter 193

’Family, huh...’ Theodore opened his eyes and glanced at Angel, who was busy sulking. His gaze darkened, and for some reason, his mind started getting clearer, and he began to wonder how in hell he got engaged with this old woman.

Honestly, Theodore didn’t care that Angel was an old lady. He wasn’t picky when it came to appearance. Of course, he was also a lover of beauty, just like how Madeline Rose’s appearance in real life captivated him.

But that didn’t mean he was shallow enough to only chase for beauties.

He got engaged with Angel because he thought she was close to his family, so she could be his younger siblings’ second mother.

However, none of his siblings liked her. Lance and Lily showed extreme dislike, while George told Theodore that something was wrong in his head.

On top of that, Angel never actually said anything good about his siblings, even though she took care of the three brothers when they were in their kid to teenage years. She always said none of them was good enough compared to Theodore, and she had a special resentment against Lance.

’So what’s the point of dating and getting engaged with her when she can’t bring peace to my family?’ Theodore pondered, for the first time in his life. He wondered if fighting against the world for Angel was worth it.

’But if it’s not her, then who else will accept me?’ Theodore wondered. ’I never try to find another woman outside. I’m way too busy at work, too.’

As Theodore was busy with his mind, Angel was seething with rage as she knew she had lost against Lance and Madeline.

She didn’t expect Lance to have such an elaborate plan, nor did she expect Theodore to readily accept it, going so far as to extend an invitation to them to their family gathering at Grant’s family castle a month from now.

She glanced at Theodore several times, thinking he would try to appease her somehow.

But he completely ignored her instead and was lost in his thoughts.

So she tried to get his attention by elbowing him a few times until Theodore spared her a glance.

"What?" he asked.

"Why are you doing this to me, Theodore? All I want is the best for us," Angel complained.

"I haven’t done anything to you. I simply allowed my brother to follow his own path," Theodore replied calmly. "Shouldn’t you be happy that he is becoming more responsible?"

"B—But it’s Lance we’re talking about. He will make an even bigger mess sooner or later. Who knows what kind of shame he will bring to our family?!"

"Our family?" Theodore scoffed. "Do you ever consider Lance—and all my siblings—a part of the family? You criticized all of them, even George and Lily, who had a good relationship with me."

"It’s because they are bad kids. They don’t understand all the pain you endured to maintain the family’s business and fortune. Of course, I get mad at them!"

"Are you really?" Theodore scoffed. "Sounds like you just want to antagonize them because they don’t like you."

"That—" Angel paused for a moment, and she found her tongue tied because she couldn’t defend herself this time.

She truly saw Theodore’s siblings as nothing but a bunch of obstacles. At first, she tried to act kind in front of them, but they all hated her, so she shed her cordiality and acted hostile.

"I think I’ve heard enough from you, Angel," Theodore said sternly. "Now shut up, or my threat might just come true."

Angel lowered her head again. This time, she wisely didn’t dare to argue with Theodore. Her position as his fiancée hung delicately in the balance, and she couldn’t risk jeopardizing it any further.

However, she didn’t want to stand still and watch how Lance slowly took over everything.

’I have to find a way to kick him out of Theodore’s life before it’s too late,’ Angel thought.

Of course, she knew that Madeline Rose was Lancelot’s current weakness, so she had to find a way to sabotage Lance and Madeline’s relationship to ensure that Lance’s life would be ruined again.

Once Madeline and Lance broke up, Lance would eventually derail and make many mistakes along the way.

’I need to find a way immediately. That bitch has so many controversies, so she must have a lot of weaknesses,’ Angel thought.

**

A week had passed since Theodore visited Lance’s office. He kept his promise by not disturbing Lance’s work anymore.

But Theodore was still watching over his little brother. He wanted to see what Lance would do to solve this bad publicity since almost 90% of Zane’s fans and many others were boycotting Psycho Moth.

Theodore thought Lance would do a massive campaign before the show aired to counter this boycott.

But strangely, he didn’t.

There was no campaign, not even a big promotion anywhere, and so the boycott was proven to be effective because Psycho Moth’s first episode’s rating was so low that it was almost impossible to continue airing it.

Theodore frowned as he saw Empress Entertainment’s stock. Even if he had no plan to take over, he certainly didn’t want the company to go down and file for bankruptcy.

He decided to call Lance to inquire about his next steps.

"What are you going to do next, Lance?" Theodore asked. "It seems the boycott is too effective. The company’s stock has plummeted by 90%."

"Don’t worry, big bro. Everything is according to plan," Lance said. "Just wait and see, and you’ll see a gradual recovery—no, even better, a soaring stock value next week."

"You seem awfully confident. Are you sure this plan of yours will work?" Theodore asked, wanting assurance because he was still unsure if Lance could be fully trusted.

"Since when have you become so attentive to me?" Lance chuckled. "Don’t worry. I also have the responsibility to keep our family legacy. I will make you proud when we meet again at our family gathering."

"... if you say so," Theodore sighed, still not entirely convinced. "Call me if you need help."

Beep.
