Chapter 188: Chapter 188

"Empress Entertainment will probably file for bankruptcy in no time. There is no way we can recover from this," Lance said.

"You seem to be awfully relaxed given the circumstances we’re in," one shareholder skeptically commented. "Don’t you realize that you are the one who destroyed everything? You will also lose a lot of money!"

"I know, but that’s not the end of the world for me," Lance shrugged. "Don’t you remember who I am? I am Lancelot Grant, the second son of the Grant family. Even if this company crashes and burns, I will still have enough money to support my lavish lifestyle for generations. So I don’t give a damn if this company is destroyed."

"YOU—!" The old shareholders were about to get a heart attack from this careless bastard. "Theodore should’ve taken over this company! He’s right. You’re nothing but a good-for-nothing rich kid!"

"Now, now, don’t bring my brother into this. I doubt he’d be willing to take over after such a huge fuck up," Lance chuckled. "What’s the point of trying to resuscitate a dead horse? This company is gone, and so is the value of your stocks."

The shareholders went quiet after that because they also knew that would be true.

Theodore was very busy with many businesses he had to handle after his father, Henry Grant, stepped down.

So even if this one failed, he still had other business to take care of. Theodore wouldn’t care about Empress Entertainment, which was just a small fry.

Lance noticed the depressing atmosphere in the meeting room. He knew it was time to strike the iron while it was hot.

So he said, "Well, I called this emergency meeting without prior notice for a reason. I know that I am the one who caused the company to get destroyed. So I will compensate all of you," Lance paused for a moment, waiting for the shareholder’s full attention before continuing, "I will buy all of your shares, but not with the full price. Instead, I will buy it based on our current stock price in the market."

"That’s insanity! We’re down by literally 50% in two days!" A female shareholder protested. "You’re literally paying us for half of our share’s worth!"

"You’re playing dirty, Lancelot Grant. We will not stand for this! You’re a criminal!"

"Do you think anyone will give you such a generous offer anytime soon?" Lance scoffed. "Check your phone and look at the current stock market trends. I’m generous enough to pay half your share’s worth because I feel responsible for the damage. But you can keep your share and wait two weeks until Psycho Moth is released. You’ll lose your share’s worth by roughly 80 to 90%. You’ll be lucky to walk away with a pocket change."

The old shareholders’ resolution to bring Lance down and replace him with Theodore finally wavered.

At this point, there was no way Theodore would take over a failed company that would file for bankruptcy soon, and Lance’s offer was their only way out.

If they didn’t take his offer immediately, their stock would eventually plummet, leaving them with nothing.

However, one shareholder, one of the oldest, was still trying to stand strong even in the face of a terrible situation, "Would you mind giving us time, Mr. Grant? Selling my entire stock to you is not an easy decision. I’ve been a shareholder in this company for over two decades."

"I’m afraid I can’t do that," Lance replied. "This is a one-time-only offer because, after this, I’m going to file for bankruptcy and shut this company down for good. I don’t care about it anymore. After all, I can just live a comfortable life with Madeline Rose in my mansion. I have enough money through investments and assets from my parents."

For Lance, Empress Entertainment was truly just a speck of dust. He had a lot of money on his own, and the only reason he willingly took the CEO role was to make his parents proud.

Thus, his threat was proven effective because the last shareholder finally nodded, "Very well, it seems there is no way out. I’ll agree to sell my stock to you, Mr. Grant."

After that, the other shareholders followed immediately.

’I can’t wait to see Theo’s reaction. He’d definitely shit bricks,’ Lance chuckled as he signed all the necessary documents to transfer their stocks. With this, he would be the majority shareholder with seventy percent, while the rest was in Theodore’s hand.

Meanwhile, Theodore had been busy with his work, so he didn’t pay attention to Empress Entertainment.

But he knew about the scandal between Zane, Madeline, and Lance and how that stupid boy ruined his own company by dating the up-and-coming female star.

It was obvious that Lance must’ve used his money and good looks to charm Madeline, and that stupid woman was just as bad.

She willingly abandoned her career just because Lance gave her a bit of attention.

’Well, an idiot for another idiot. They deserve to go down together,’ Theodore sighed. ’And I thought I could finally give Lance a bit of trust. Turns out, he’s still the same reckless young man with no intention of adulting.’

Theodore knew he had to eventually take over Empress Entertainment and forced his second brother to become the next Duke of York so Lance would be forced to settle down.

He would find a good fellow noblewoman for Lance to marry, and they could attend meaningless noble parties for the rest of their lives.

He was still in his office, busy reading documents, when Angel stormed in with a bright expression. "Darling, have you seen the news?"

"I have," Theodore replied, but his eyes were still on the document. "I will handle it. No need to worry."

"Oh, babe, I can’t believe it. That stupid boy finally showed his true nature," Angel said as she approached Theodore. "Just as I suspected, Lance has been a rebellious kid since he was young. He won’t make it far in life without his family background!"
