Zane stared at the big Christmas tree in the middle of the living room. It was beautifully decorated by the staff who worked around his mansion, and there was a lot of food for him to choose from.

But he still felt lonely because Madeline wasn’t here to spend Christmas with him.

He had long-cut contact with his toxic parents, who almost sold him as a male prostitute to one of the producers in exchange for a bigger role in Hollywood.

Zane sipped wine after dinner and stared at the fireplace, waiting for Madeline to call him, begging to be saved once more. And naturally, he would come to her rescue.

In exchange, all she needed to do was to marry him. It was a fair trade-off, a win-win situation for him.

"You don’t need to remind me. I fully understand the risk of going public with Lance," Madeline replied. "I don’t care if my career is completely ruined now. It’s better for me to stay with Lance rather than with you, and I don’t want a career that forces me to kiss a man I hate."
