She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 170
Chapter 170: Chapter 170
Madeline glared at Zane while Diana wasn’t looking, but Zane wasn’t affected. He shrugged it off and said, "I just did what Maddy told me to do. She told me she’s too busy at work, so I must accompany you while she isn’t around, Mrs. Rose."
"As a good boyfriend, that’s the least I can do, right?" Zane added while staring at Madeline with a provocative smile.
Madeline clenched her fists. She could tolerate Zane being angry at her because she knew she was at fault for using him.
But she wouldn’t tolerate him trying to implicate her sickly mother in their problem.
Madeline didn’t want Diana to think that they were dating. So she turned towards her mother and wanted to clarify immediately, "Mom, I want to tell you something about Zane and me."
"Oh, don’t worry about it, Maddy. Zane already told me everything," Diana said. "I should’ve been there to support you. I’m sorry, Maddy. I’ll recover soon, so you don’t need to worry about me."
Madeline was dumbfounded.
She didn’t know what kind of story Zane spoon-fed to her mother, but she knew damn well that Zane didn’t have the best intentions in mind.
"What do you mean, everything?" Madeline turned her head towards Zane. "What did you tell my mother?"
"Just what happened between us and also that scum Lancelot Grant," Zane said. "Your mother will get discharged soon, so she should’ve known about everything beforehand, or else she might get misinformation outside."
"What misinformation?" Madeline was completely lost. At this point, she knew that Zane must’ve fabricated many things, especially when he called Lance scum.
"Come on, no need to feign ignorance," Zane sighed. "Honestly, I’m surprised you haven’t told your mother about this. But I understand that you must’ve felt the mental burden."
"B—But it’s fine, dear. I know that you went through a lot." Diana tried to appease her daughter, and she thought that Madeline’s lost and confused expressions were just because she was trying to hide the shame.
Zane glanced at Diana and acted worried. "Look at her, Mrs. Rose. She’s still acting ignorant. Don’t you see how it puts so much mental strain on her?"
Diana smiled apologetically and nodded. "I have failed as a mother. Come here, Madeline, let me hug you."
Madeline absentmindedly sat on the hospital bed and hugged her mother.
Diana ran her fingers through her daughter’s hair while allowing Madeline to rest on her chest. She did it so naturally, and Madeline would usually enjoy being hugged like this by her mother.
But not now, because she was so confused and angry that Zane did something unthinkable.
"Everything will be just fine, Maddy. I will heal and get a job. I can’t let you put everything on your shoulder."
"I don’t think you need to work, Mrs. Rose," Zane interrupted. "I told Madeline that everything would be taken care of, including the hospital bills and the others. All you need to worry about right now is whether you consider me a potential son-in-law."
"Oh-ho, look at him, already talking about marriage," Diana laughed lightly. "I will give you my blessing as long as Madeline says yes."
"Oh, don’t worry." Zane grinned. "She will, eventually."
Zane said it in a joking manner, but Madeline knew damn well that he was dead serious.
Madeline glared at him but said nothing, as they were still with his mother.
Madeline slowly separated herself and said, "Mom, I think Zane and I need to talk outside."
"Privately?" Diana chuckled. "Alright, you young people are so secretive, huh?"
Madeline pushed the food trolley to her mother first, put all the food on the small table connected to the hospital bed, and said, "You should have lunch first. I’ll be back soon."
"Don’t worry, take your time," Diana said.
Madeline grabbed Zane’s wrist and yanked him out of the hospital ward.
Zane said nothing when he got yanked out of the hospital room, but raised his brow when Madeline brought him far away from Diana’s ward.
"Were you scared that your mother would know about everything?" Zane asked. "All I did was tell the truth."
"What truth?" Madeline said curtly. She stopped after she brought Zane to the hospital garden, where nobody was around. The air was chilly, but she didn’t care because her heart was burning with fury right now. "You must’ve lied to her about many things. So tell me about them all."
"I only cover up your lies, Madeline," Zane said. "You told your mother that you worked as an assistant for an actor, and that actor helped you to get by. I am THE perfect actor you’re talking about, and I cover up your lies by saying that I was your boss."
"But this creepy man called Lancelot Grant started to see you as his plaything. You’re so desperate for money, so you accept the money from Mr. Grant. Little did you know, he sent you to Bali as one of the cast members in a reality show."
"But his true intention is to embarrass you, so your new career will get destroyed, and you have nothing else except begging for his help. He wants to make you his personal prostitute," Zane said. "So I saved you. I joined the reality show at the last minute and saved you from all the embarrassment within the show by constantly protecting you from elimination. Then you felt grateful and asked me out of love and admiration. We have been dating for a while now and are very much in love. We even planned to live together. While Lancelot Grant is still trying to ruin your career."
"But worry not, I told your mother that I will always be here to protect you, Madeline Rose." Zane slowly reached Madeline’s face, attempting to caress her cheek. But Madeline quickly slapped his hand.
Zane’s eyes darkened for a moment, but he maintained his composure as he said, "I didn’t lie, Maddy. All I did was make sure that your mother knew the real side of the story, not some fabrication that Lance had made just so he could have you all for himself."
