She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 146
Chapter 146: Chapter 146
"W—What?!" Jillian couldn’t hide her shock anymore. Her expression turned stern instantly, and she raised her voice while talking to Renata: "Listen, you little lady, my husband and I have no problem at all. So, stop trying to gaslight us, or I will get you fired!"
"Fired? Oh, I bet Harry wouldn’t want to get me fired." Renata shrugged lightly. "I am the only one who makes him happy amidst his broken marriage life with his wife."
"STOP!" Jillian slammed the table as she got agitated. She got up and quickly put her laptop inside her tote.
"Where are you going, ma’am?" Renata said with a malicious grin. "Do I need to tell you more? Harry also told me you’re so unbearable he doesn’t want to go home anymore. That’s why he worked a lot of overtime in the office."
"I don’t give a damn about your nonsense, you little shit!" Jillian said. But her hands trembled as she tried to put all her belongings into her tote.
"Really? Well, you shouldn’t mind if I say he wants to get a divorce soon, right? Hahahaha!" Renata laughed as she found Jillian’s reaction hilarious. "Oh my, he said he’d rather pay child support than see his son, too. Surprise, surprise~."
Jillian’s heart sank.
She didn’t know if any of these were true, and she hoped it was just nonsense that Renata spouted just to make her angry.
She should ask Harry about this instead of getting herself worked up.
Jillian ignored the barista, who had just come with her coffee. She stormed out of the coffee shop, leaving Renata giggling like a madwoman.
"Ma’am, your coffee..." the barista sighed. He made eye contact with Renata, and the latter said,
"Put it on the table. I’m going to drink it."
"Are you sure? It’s her order. You might not like it," the barista asked.
"It’s fine. I don’t care if I will like it," Renata assured. "I just want to have a taste of the coffee that Mrs. Hurst ordered. Who knows if this will be the same coffee I order in the future?"
The barista had no idea what the fighting was all about, but he didn’t want the coffee to go to waste.
So he put it on the table and left.
Renata sipped the coffee meant for Jillian, and she frowned in disgust. "Ugh, tastes like depression. No wonder they have a bad marriage," she complained. But her expression eased after realizing people would call her Mrs. Hurst sooner or later. "It starts with a coffee, but I will eventually take everything you have, Jillian."
"Harry is mine," Renata boldly claimed before the camera panned out, and the director nodded.
"Cut!"
—The Liar Husband and Lying Wife, Scene #1 ends—
"Perfect! What a great scene in one take!" Director Wang said. He was very satisfied with Madeline’s performance.
Madeline let out a relieved sigh. She was scared that she didn’t get the character right, but she seemed to be overthinking.
Renata was the same skank Madeline Rose persona she always played in public. She basically played herself in a different costume.
But this was great because it would help her get used to the set once more. It had been four years since her last time on a movie or production set.
Julia approached Madeline and patted her back. "Great work. For a second, I thought you really were the mistress who’s going to take my imaginary husband."
Madeline chuckled. "Oh, I wouldn’t dare. You’re also an amazing actress, Julia. Your change of expression and gestures is amazing."
**
After the first scene, Madeline had one more scene after lunch before finishing today’s shoot.
She was so absorbed with her work today that she didn’t know how many texts she got from Lance.
Thus, when she finally got a lunch break, she checked her phone and almost choked on her food.
Lance sent her twenty texts the whole morning, for some reason. So she checked the most recent.
-
Maddy, please call me once you’re done filming.
-
"And is he up to this time?" Madeline wondered.
She called Lance, and it connected in a few seconds.
—
"Maddy, babe, are you okay?!" Lance asked immediately.
"Uhh, I’m good. What’s wrong?" Madeline asked back. "Why are you panicking?"
"Oh, thank God. I was just worried because I got the news from Ada that people are protesting in front of the production set," Lance said. "Don’t worry, I’ve called my friend in the police force. Those crazy fangirls now."
"Thank you, babe." Madeline curled her lips, silently feeling the warmth on her chest. "But do you have to send twenty texts over this?"
"What do you mean by this? I was worried that you might get hurt or even worse. You might be sad again seeing those people hating you," Lance said.
"I’ve grown accustomed to hate and controversy. I’m not a weak woman who’d cry over a hate comment," Madeline said. "As long as they can’t touch me, of course."
"I’ll upgrade your car tomorrow. I’ll make sure it’s bulletproof, alright?" Lance said to assure himself. "Do you want a second bodyguard?"
Madeline felt that Lance’s worry was unnecessary. But she really liked how attentive he was.
It made her feel loved.
"I’ll do just fine with Ada," Madeline replied. "But I want a new car."
"What brand?" Lance asked without hesitation. "Or do you want to pick one yourself?"
"Mhm, I want a regular SUV, the kind that a regular family would use," Madeline said. But then she realized the rich boy wouldn’t understand what she meant, so she added, "Just a cheap SUV. I want to pick my brother up from his school, but that Rolls Royce is way too flashy."
"...Let me get some bulletproof modification on it first, if that’s what you want," Lance said reluctantly.
"Mm, thanks, babe, you’re the best~," Madeline said. She saw that the assistant director was looking for her to prepare for her second scene. "Alright, I’m going to do the second scene. Talk to you later, mwah!"
Beep.
