Ada wiped the sweat from her forehead. She might be a bodyguard, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t feel nervous seeing a bunch of angry mobs with a look that could kill her boss.

"Are you not scared of them, miss?"

"Isn’t that why I want to date Lance? He provides me with enough security and will do more if I ever get threatened." Madeline smiled. "As long as they can’t touch me, then I’m fine with their hate-mongering campaign."

"Still, I would probably get affected if the whole world was against me," Ada said.

"I’ve been through a very dark place, with nobody to help me except the idea that I need to live on for my mother and brother," Madeline shrugged. "A mere hate comment calling me a bitch or going to kill myself wouldn’t be a problem."

Ada knew Madeline was hated on the internet because it was her branding. She was actually a very nice and sweet person.

It felt strange seeing how vastly different Madeline Rose was portrayed on social media compared to the real Madeline Rose.

"You’re a tough woman, Miss."

"Am I? I cried a lot, by the way," Madeline chuckled. "And what’s with the miss? I told you to call me Madeline or Maddy, right?"

"Right, I just can’t get used to it yet," Ada said. "It’s the first time my boss wants me to be so casual with her. It’s too hard to adjust."

"Mm, get used to it then," Madeline said. "By the way, I wonder what caused them to come to the set today."

"I think someone leaked that you’re going to work on this TV show," Ada replied as she drove the car near the entrance.

"That’s one of the factors, but it shouldn’t be enough to warrant a protest like that, and it’s so early in the morning," Madeline assessed. "I think there is something more than just people leaking my new project."

Madeline wondered about the cause, but the real reason for the protest stood near the entrance, surrounded by the supporting actresses and extras.

Madeline’s jaw dropped when she saw Zane on the production set today.

"Well, there’s the real reason, Miss," Ada sighed. "I don’t know your real relationship with Zane Eastwood at this point, and I’m afraid to ask."

"Well, it’s complicated," Madeline said. She observed Zane for a moment. He always had that perfunctory smile when facing fans and others.

But the more Madeline observed it, the more she realized Zane was just being cordial. He wasn’t genuine at all.

’Well, I guess I understand. Zane is used to seeing people fawning over him every day. So it’s normal to grow numb.’

’Still, wouldn’t it be fun to have people fawning over you every day rather than hating over you?’ Madeline had a bitter smile. She knew she brought the hatred upon herself and was mentally prepared for it as long as she could stay relevant.

But deep down, she still wanted people to like her.

’Oh well, too bad I burned all of those bridges. Might as well live with it.’ Madeline shrugged it off and opened the car door.

Zane turned his head, and the perfunctory smile towards these mindless, adoring fans turned genuine instantly when he saw Madeline walk towards the entrance.

She was wearing a mask covering half of her face, but Zane could identify her by her eyes, gait, posture, and everything about her.

’As it should be. I’ve known her for so long. Of course, I know everything about her appearance,’ Zane thought before he turned around and ignored all of these ladies.

He strode directly towards Madeline and said, "Babe, I’ve been waiting for you!"

Madeline clenched her tote bag strap as she ignored Zane completely and walked past him, stunning Zane and the crowd of ladies immediately.

Zane’s eyes darkened for a moment, but he quickly turned around and showed his genuine smile again. He grabbed Madeline’s arm and forced her to fall into his embrace. "Are you mad because of those crazy fangirls outside?"

Madeline saw the crowd of supporting actresses and extras. Some of them started recording, so Madeline was forced to play along.

She had a crooked smile as she faced Zane and playfully hit his chest. "Your fangirls are too much. They are screaming like a bunch of angry mobs."

Zane felt that playful hit straight to his heart. He almost couldn’t hide his excitement, but maintained his composure and said, "I’m sorry. I didn’t know how they found out about my visit today. So they rallied like that."

"And why are you here in the first place?" Madeline asked. Her eyes showed displeasure, but her tone was sweet, as always.

Zane knew that Madeline disliked his method right now. But she had to get used to their intimacy, or else they would never be a good Hollywood couple in the future.

"I was just saying hi to Director Wang and hope he will take care of you well in the future. After all, my girlfriend is going to play in a few episodes, right?" Zane said amicably. "And why did you dye your hair blonde again? I like your natural hair. It’s cute."

"It’s for character," Madeline said coldly. She knew damn well that Zane said that, not out of an innocent comment. He wanted to show those people with the cameras that they were truly dating. That’s why he mentioned her natural hair color and such.

Madeline didn’t hate Zane. Far from it. She thought that Zane would be a perfect friend for her, but he wanted something Madeline couldn’t give, so she preferred to have him around only when necessary.

She couldn’t wait to kick him out of this production set. So she could focus on her scenes today.

"Well, now that you’ve seen me, it’s time for you to go home. Aren’t you busy with other projects?" Madeline said as she tried to subtly tell him to leave.

"My next project will be in a month or two. We already talked about this before, babe," Zane countered slickly. "But if you want me to leave, you have to kiss me first."
