Chapter 143: The Liar Husband and Lying Wife

Chapter 143: Chapter 143: The Liar Husband and Lying Wife

Madeline woke up early in the morning. She was in a great mood today because she found something to do to fix her mistake.

"Well, it works out in the end, at least," Madeline murmured. "And the way Lance reacted when she said that she wanted his love was just icing on the top."

She spent the entire night reading the script for day one of her shooting and got the feel of her character, Renata, the Mistress.

She walked out of her room wearing an oversized shirt, jeans, a cap, and a face mask to cover her bare face.

Since the tone of the TV show was very serious and grim, she couldn’t wear her dolly makeup, and the makeup artist would give her a proper one to adjust to the character and setting instead.

She bumped into Nathan, who had just finished his cereal.

"Are you going somewhere today, sis?"

"Yeah, I’ll play on a TV show. It’s not your kind of stuff, though," Madeline replied, as she had been keeping Nathan in the dark about her new project.

She didn’t want to tell him, mostly because she would play as a mistress, and that would definitely cause a fight between them.

The least she wanted was to argue against her brother because she knew Nathan meant well, but she had no other choice now.

"Not my kind of stuff?" Nathan raised his brow. "It’s been a while since you’re playing on a TV show. I will watch it."

Madeline knew she couldn’t keep a secret from Nathan, especially with her reputation right now. So she could only shift the topic. "Do you want to go with me? My driver is waiting outside."

"No," Nathan said, shaking his head. "Your boyfriend... I don’t know which one sends you a literal Rolls Royce. I will be the talk of the school if I walk out of that car. It’s already stressful having to ignore them all the time."

"Ah..." Madeline remembered that Nathan preferred a simple life rather than the life of a celebrity. He hated his social media presence and also hated taking pictures, despite being very handsome and popular. "Sorry, I’ll tell him to give us a normal car later."

"No need. You’re a celebrity, you deserve that," Nathan replied with a smile. "I prefer using my bike. Maybe a scooter once I’m old enough to get a driver’s license."

Nathan grabbed his bag and said, "See you at dinner, Maddy. Tell me if you want something for dinner. I’m going to the grocery shop today."

Nathan left the garage to retrieve his bike and left the house.

"We’re really different..." Madeline muttered. She has loved the camera since she was young, loves taking pictures, and has become the center of attention.

Thinking of Nathan growing up, Madeline realized that she didn’t remember much about him when he was a kid because she was always busy with her job as a child actress.

"We need to have quality time together. Maybe I’ll take him somewhere.".

She grabbed a piece of bread, left the house to meet with Ada, and drove to the production set.

Ada didn’t say a thing today. She saw that her female boss was busy reading the script, so she didn’t want to lose focus.

However, she also had a question about Zane Eastwood.

’It’s not the right time. Since Mr. Grant hasn’t told me to leave Madeline alone, they are still on good terms, right?’ Ada thought.

She smiled, assured that she got to keep her job as Madeline’s bodyguard.

But that smile soon vanished the moment she drove near the production house.

"Uh... Miss, we have a problem here."

"What’s wrong?" Madeline lifted her head and stared straight. She gasped when she saw at least fifty women, from young to old, holding many protest banners with Madeline’s picture on them.

They made caricatures of her, sprayed her picture, etc.

But it was all the same. Everything was to make a statement that Madeline was a whore that seduced Zane to climb up in the entertainment industry.

They also screamed at the top of their lungs, calling Madeline creative names that were only possible when your head and heart were full of hatred.

The gate was closed and protected by at least five security guards.

There was also a police car parked not far from the studio, silently observing the protesters in case they did something anarchic.

Ada became tense immediately. "We should go through the back entrance, miss. These people are Zane’s fans. They are mad at you."

"I can see that." Madeline quickly calmed down, and her lips curled. She wasn’t scared, mostly because she knew most were all bark and no bite. "It’s fine, Ada. Go through the front entrance. The security guards have already identified our car, anyway."

"Are you sure, Miss?

"Yeah, and the glass is tinted. They won’t see me," Madeline said lightly.

Thus, Ada braced herself and got through the front entrance. The security guards already knew who was inside the car, so they opened the gate for the car.

Madeline looked to her left and right, seeing these people with interest.

She was immune to hate comments at this point. As long as it didn’t affect her work, she didn’t mind.

But it was funny how these women were so obsessed with Zane while she wanted to get away from him right now.

Right before the car fully entered the gate, Madeline suddenly pressed a button to slide the windows down and blew a kiss to the protesters outside.

"Thanks for coming. You girls flatter me so much." Madeline winked before she slid the window up.

Everyone was shocked for a second before someone screamed at the top of her lungs.

"MADELINE IS INSIDE THAT CAR!"

After that, everyone cursed at her even more, and Madeline only laughed as the gate closed behind her.

"What a bunch of clowns." Madeline stated amusedly. "Makes me want to tease them even more."
