Julia stared at Madeline from head to toe and scoffed, "You are so naive, Madeline Rose."

"Naive?"

"Mhm." Julia nodded. "You don’t understand how gossip works, do you? It’s strange because I thought you’d be smarter than this."

"Please, Julia. I don’t mind being trash-talked by you regularly since I have a lot of enemies. But I’m under a lot of pressure right now," Madeline said as she grabbed her phone, ready to call Lance.

But Julia snatched the phone to stop her before Madeline pressed the call button.

"Hey! Give it back!" Madeline yelled.

Julia pocketed Madeline’s phone and said, "If you want to save yourself, you should listen to me first. Don’t act rashly by calling Lance, who is just as rash as you are."

Madeline stared back at Julia with a mix of panic and frustration. She heard from the gossip flying around today that Julia and Lance had a fling, but it wasn’t serious, and she didn’t seem to cling to him.

But from how she spoke of him, it seemed that Lance and Julia were quite close.

Julia waited until Madeline calmed down and said, "Those people—Ethan and Bertha—know how gossip works. They are creating a scenario where there is nothing you can do to refute their accusation."

"If you dare to call them out on social media, people will believe them more, since your image is not that of an angel," Julia continued. "If you don’t do anything, then you silently confirm all of those allegations, which is the same mistake I made."

"Then I can just use Lance’s connection to do something, right? I should sue them for defamation."

"Lance has always been a harsh and unfeeling man. I see that he dotes on you since you are the first woman he ever claimed to be precious in public," Julia said. "But what do you think would happen if you cried in front of him, begging him to do something about this?"

Madeline pondered for a moment and replied, based on her idea of Lance, "He will sue them, I think."

"Yes, he will press charges against Bertha and Ethan, then make a public statement about your innocence," Julia grinned. "Yes, that will help you win. But people will only see you as a cruel woman who would use anything to bully the weak. This is a pitfall that Ethan and Bertha created to make sure that you will still lose no matter what you do."

Madeline was speechless.

She knew Julia was right, but she still couldn’t believe she was entirely powerless.

Julia smiled at Madeline and returned her phone. "Relax, Madeline. You’re not entirely helpless. You may not be able to do something, but others can."

"Others?"

"I’ve watched Summer Heat Lovers, and your bond with Jasmin is not fake, right?"

"No, we are truly best friends."

"Then maybe she can do something, right?" Julia said. "If you two are truly friends, I’m sure it won’t burden her to make some kind of clarification online."

Madeline had a lightbulb moment as she finally understood what Julia told her to do.

"So you want Jasmin to tell the world we’re not on bad terms, right?" Madeline guessed.

Julia nodded. "Shouldn’t be hard for her to do, right?"

"It shouldn’t be," Madeline said. "She offered to make a post about us as best friends a few times in the past. I rejected her because I thought it was unnecessary."

"Then this is a perfect chance to show the world that you two are truly best friends," Julia said. "Though, I’m unsure if it’ll be as effective."

"Because Bertha and Ethan said we were fake friends for the show?" Madeline asked.

"Yes, friendship can be faked, especially since Jasmin isn’t that popular either. But the chemistry between lovers can’t," Julia said. "You and Zane... I’m not sure what your relationship is with him in real life since it’s obvious that you and Lance have something together."

"But from what I watched in Summer Heat Lovers, you two have an undeniable chemistry. It looks like you and Zane are meant to be together."

"So you want me to ask him for help?" Madeline asked.

"It all depends on whether he wants to help or not. He is, after all, a mega Hollywood heartthrob. He’s a giant compared to us." Julia sighed and opened the door. "Think before you act, Madeline Rose. This will determine your fate in the entertainment industry."

Julia left her trailer, giving Madeline a space to calm down and think of her next step.

Madeline couldn’t thank her enough. She didn’t know if Julia was genuinely helpful or if she had another agenda behind her back.

Nevertheless, what Julia said was very helpful.

Her first instinct was to call Lance and ask him to do something about this.

But now that she was more clear-headed, she began to form her plan to counter those bitches, Ethan and Bertha.

And the first thing that she did?

Call Lancelot Grant.

Julia called someone as she walked far from Madeline.

The call was connected in less than ten seconds, and the first thing she said was,

"I told her what to do, as promised."

"Good, thank you for your help. I was worried that Maddy might not call me after this," the man on the call said.

"Don’t forget your promise," Julia reminded her.

"Don’t worry, I will recommend you to one of the directors that I know. The director should favor you for the next casting," the man on the call chuckled. "Thanks for your cooperation, Julia."

"I don’t understand what’s with you, Madeline Rose, and Lancelot Grant. But at this point, I don’t care. Just make sure to help me get a better role later, Zane," Julia said.

Julia ended the call with Zane Eastwood.

They were good acquaintances, mostly because they once played in a movie, and she really liked his talent and professionalism at such a young age.

So they kept in contact, and she was the first person to text Zane when she saw Lance and Madeline together.

She didn’t understand why Lance and Zane were involved in a messy love triangle with Madeline. They were both powerful men; they must’ve seen a lot of gorgeous women that rivaled Madeline’s beauty.

"Oh, well, it’s none of my problem. He told me to redirect Madeline to him in exchange for a recommendation to a movie director, and so be it. It’s all just a transaction."
