She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 128
Chapter 128: Chapter 128
Lance halted his step when he was called.
He looked over his shoulder and waited for Madeline to say what she wanted to say.
"I... I will do my best, so you should too," Madeline said. "Thank you for helping me, Lance."
Lance had a thin smile as he walked out without giving any answer.
But he actually obtained a newfound determination. His expression turned frigid the moment he walked out.
’And this is the last time I will get stomped by my brother. I will find a way to break free from Theodore’s chain,’ Lance told himself. ’I will make sure this new TV show I’m developing will shut him up for good.’
**
Madeline was escorted by the Assistant Director to the lounge room, specifically for the actresses to take their break and rest.
"This is the script," the Assistant Director said. "Your first shoot should be tomorrow, so you can take your time here and study your role. I will be with the Director, and he said he will check on you after lunch to ensure that you can capture the character’s personality."
"Got it," Madeline nodded professionally. "And how about my makeup? For this character that I will play, is there any specific look on her."
"No, you are perfect to play this character," the Assistant Director said. "Maybe the makeup team will give you more... realistic makeup. Because the tone of the story is serious."
"Is that all?"
"Mhm, you are perfect to play as a mistress because you..." The assistant director zipped his lips instantly before he offended her. He didn’t dare to do that when Lancelot Grant backed Madeline. "Never mind, I’m leaving now."
"Thanks," Madeline smiled. She already knew what that man wanted to say, but wasn’t affected.
Or at least trying not to look like she was affected by his hidden, condescending view of her. Everyone saw her as a skank, a shameless mistress, or whatever. It wasn’t a big deal anymore for her.
’Yes, it’s not a big deal anymore. Because I need to endure it if I want to make a name for myself,’ Madeline told herself as she studied her script.
She would be playing Renata, a new intern working at Harry’s—the main character’s husband—office.
Renata was beautiful, alluring, and, most importantly, young and reckless.
She seduced Tom, the main character’s husband, because she wanted to, not because he was rich.
Renata also came from a rich family, but she truly wanted a companion because she grew up lonely.
Even when the main character, Jillian, confronted Renata, she simply shrugged it off and even provocatively challenged Jillian to try if she didn’t want her husband to leave her.
Renata was perfectly aligned with Madeline Rose’s TV personality. So Madeline shouldn’t have any difficulty playing this.
Madeline preferred to play something more than just herself in a different version. But any start is a good start.
"Well, beggars can’t be choosers. This is the best I can get for now," Madeline comforted herself. "Let’s make the best out of this."
**
Madeline hummed as she read the script, preparing herself for one scene the director would check on in an hour.
Her throat got dry as she kept reciting her lines. So she went out of the lounge to get herself a drink.
However, as she walked around the set, she realized that everyone she passed was looking at her as if she were a monster.
Their judging eyes, their whispers, and their gossip started flying around. It got even worse when she wanted to grab a drink from the vending machine outside the production set.
She heard two actresses who played supporting characters gossiping near the vending machine.
-
"Have you watched it?"
"Yes! I watched it! Oh my god, that woman is so vile!"
"I never knew that she could get worse. She’s already so detestable in Summer Heat Lovers!"
"Ugh, but we can’t say anything. She seduced Mr. Grant. We will get kicked out if we dare to say something to her!"
"Maybe she knows that everyone hates her. So she’s selling her coochie to Mr. Grant just to get protected!"
"Did you see how she addressed Mr. Grant as Lance? She’s definitely putting on a show because she wants everyone to know that Mr. Grant is in her grasp!"
-
Madeline frowned as she hid behind a wall.
’What’s wrong with them?’ Madeline wondered. ’No, what’s wrong with everyone in this set? Why are they looking at me like I’m some kind of awful human being? Is it because of Summer Heat Lovers?’
As Madeline was pondering this, someone suddenly tapped her shoulder, and she jolted.
She turned around and faced the actress who played Jillian, the main character of The Liar Husband and Lying Wife, Julia Le Baron.
Julia was ten years older than Madeline, a senior in the entertainment industry.
She was a famous actress when Madeline was young. But after fifteen years in showbiz, Julia’s age made her undesirable in the movie industry.
Thus, she mostly played in TV shows with high ratings, such as this one.
"H—Hello, Mrs. Le Baron. It’s an honor to meet you in person," Madeline tried to be courteous. "I watched many of your movies when I was young."
"Just call me Julia," Julia said curtly. She peeked from behind the wall, and her lips thinned before she grabbed Madeline and dragged her into her trailer.
"Why are we here, Julia?" Madeline asked while on guard. Her co-stars had never bullied her before, but she knew about the bullying that might happen, so she was well prepared.
Julia closed the door and then fished her phone out. She clicked on YouTube and asked, "Have you watched the trending video on YouTube?"
"Uh... no, I was busy preparing for my role," Madeline replied.
"Then you need to watch this first." Julia connected her YouTube to the TV in her trailer so they could watch it together.
Madeline stared at the TV screen, and her eyes widened when she saw the title:
Makeup session with Bertha Marsh! Spilling the tea about Summer Heat Lovers! Warning: bullying and manipulation!
