She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 120
Chapter 120: Chapter 120
Madeline had just finished applying her nude lipstick, as this was meant to be a casual Sunday lunch with Lance. She didn’t want to overdress, so she wore a casual white shirt tucked inside black leather pants. The temperature outside had dropped since autumn was coming, so Madeline completed her look with a denim jacket.
As she finished her last touch-up, her door was knocked, and Nathan called to her, "Maddy, someone is looking for you. He’s outside."
"Coming!"
Madeline opened the door and Nathan greeted her with scrutinizing eyes.
She got conscious instantly. "W—What? Is something wrong with my outfit today?"
"No, but something’s wrong with you," Nathan said. "That man outside. Is he the man named Lance that Jasmin mentioned back then?"
"It’s not something that you should care about."
"You said it was just a rumor," Nathan continued, cornering his sister with one brutal question after another. "But that man outside is real, so that means you are really playing with two men’s hearts?"
Madeline knew that her brother was simply speaking out of concern for her.
When the truth came out about Jon’s status as a married man, eleven-year-old Nathan was the first to storm inside her room and hug her tight.
He also accompanied her while she was wailing and weeping.
Thus, despite their deteriorating relationship, the siblings always tried to find a way to protect each other since they truly only had each other’s back.
Madeline didn’t want to argue with her brother over the fact that her entanglement with Lance and Zane was indeed real, so she dodged the question. "It’s very complicated. I will tell you later, okay?"
"Why is it very complicated?" Nathan continued pestering. "Sis, please don’t be blind. I know you have a taste for handsome men, but just because that man outside is very handsome and tall doesn’t mean you can let yourself get swayed!"
"Nathan, both Zane and Lance are Hollywood-level handsome. It’s not only about their faces," Madeline defended herself, as she didn’t want to be seen as a shallow woman.
"So, it’s true, you’re really dating both of them?"
"Oh, please don’t start this, Nathan." Madeline rolled her eyes. One thing about her brother was how good he was at arguing. Nathan could and would refute any argument Madeline had.
Any argument they had would always end up with Madeline losing badly.
"I’m just looking out for you, Maddy," Nathan sighed. "I can’t let another Jonathan Hale into your life."
"Thanks for your concern, but... I can manage," Madeline said. "Don’t worry, I won’t get entangled with any of them in the end. My focus is making money to send you to a good university."
Madeline’s answer shocked Nathan. But before he could react, Madeline quickly slipped out and rushed downstairs.
"I—I can take a student loan! You don’t need to do that to me!" Nathan yelled out loud. "You don’t need to worry about me!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever, little bro." Madeline waved her hand as she put on her heels. She looked up at Nathan and grinned. "You don’t need to take any student loans when I’m around. Your sister will give you a good life."
Madeline ignored Nathan’s protest, and she opened the front door.
Lance was leaning on the pillar on the porch with his hands inside his cream-coloured chino trousers.
He wore a Ralph Lauren V-neck dark blue sweater with a white shirt underneath.
He meticulously combed his hair to the back, and the moment he walked towards her, she could smell the sweet and warm chestnut-scented perfume, perfect for autumn.
Madeline had never seen Lance dressed up in a more casual outfit. He was always in his suit whenever they met, so this was a novel experience for her.
But now that she saw him in this casual setting, she undoubtedly loved this version of Lance, probably even better than when he was in a suit, because it made Lance look more like a human than a ruthless money-making robot.
Lance smiled in front of Madeline as their eyes met. Though he tried to hide it, Madeline realized that Lance was exhausted.
"You look pretty today," Lance said.
"Only today?"
"Every day," Lance corrected. "But I like you better when you don’t use your TV makeup."
Madeline thought it unnecessary to keep that kind of over-the-top sensual makeup for a casual setting, especially now that her hair had reverted to its natural color, dark brown.
"And I like your natural hair color," Lance mentioned.
"I’m not naive, Mr. Grant. I know gentlemen prefer blondes. That’s why I dyed my hair."
"No, I really mean it," Lance said as he gently put her hair behind her ear before leaning down. "Don’t ever show this hair to anyone else, okay? I want something exclusive from you."
Madeline was stunned by Lance’s words. She stared at him with her mouth open, but was unable to utter a single word.
Lance chuckled. He grabbed her hand and said, "Let’s go. I’ve made a reservation for lunch."
Madeline obediently followed Lance to the car.
It was a dark green Aston Martin F1 edition, a highly sought-after, limited edition sports car.
How did Madeline know about this?
She saw Nathan playing a racing game on his PlayStation and always picked this car to race.
Lance opened the door for Madeline and said, "Come in, Lady Rose. I don’t have a golden carriage with two white horses, but this would suffice, right?"
"You’re so sappy." Madeline rolled her eyes, but she tried to hide her blush as his sappy words actually seeped into her heart.
Lance knew his ways with words, which annoyed Madeline because it always reminded her of how many times Lance must’ve used those words to flirt with other girls, too.
Lance buckled his seatbelt and started the engine. He glanced at Madeline, who looked pissed.
"What’s wrong? Do you not like this car? Should I pull another car instead?" Lance asked. "I can do that, but we must take a round trip to my apartment first."
"No, this car looks amazing," Madeline sneered. "I’m just wondering how many women sit in this car with you before me."
Lance paused for a moment before he laughed.
"What’s so funny?" Madeline asked.
"This is my favorite car," Lance said before he kissed her on the cheek. "You are the first and probably the only woman to ever sit with me in this car, Madeline Rose."
