She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 121
Chapter 121: Chapter 121
Madeline went quiet after Lance said that. She lowered her head as she tried to hold her joy, knowing she had the privilege of being the first woman ever to sit in Lance’s prized car.
Whether she would be the only woman to ever sit with him in this car, only time will tell.
’Though I doubt that sentence, knowing Lance.’
Lance stopped at the red light. There was nothing but silence between them. Thus, Madeline asked if she could play music to break the ice between them.
After Lance gave her an ’okay,’ she picked one song from the car’s online library and played it.
[Song Recommendation: Arctic Monkeys - 505.]
Lance smiled when Madeline picked the song, "My mom loves this band."
"Oh, really?" Madeline tilted her head. "Then your mom’s taste in music is awesome."
Lance chuckled. "Well, she’s an awesome woman, yes."
Madeline saw the smile lingering on Lance’s lips as they talked about his mother, and it wasn’t an insincere smile that Lance often made, either.
It was a soft smile given to people you hold dear in your heart.
Madeline didn’t want to pry too much about Lance’s private life. But it was Lance who mentioned it first: "This car is my favorite because of a gift from my mother. It’s my graduation gift."
"You seem very close to your mother," Madeline mentioned.
"And why’d you say so?"
"Because you sound very fond of her," Madeline smiled. "And the fact that this car is your favorite..."
"Hah, I guess it’s a bit too obvious," Lance chuckled. "But it’s true. I’m a lot closer to my mom. She taught me a lot of things when I was young."
"Then she must be a sweet lady."
"Haha! No, not at all," Lance snickered. "My mom was an iron lady. She rules the house with an iron fist. But it’s necessary because my brothers and I are three little monsters. If not for our mom’s strict teaching and discipline, we’d become a huge mess."
"How about your dad?" Madeline asked.
"Well, dad is whipped for mom," Lance replied. "He’s what you call paralyzed by love. He’s scary and intimidating for people out there, but he’s a total dud in front of his wife. He’d tail her around like a lost little duckling. So we don’t respect him the way we respect Mom."
"So your family is basically matriarchal?"
"Not from the outside, but inside, yes. My mom rules the house with an iron fist," Lance’s smile bloomed as he remembered about his mom again. "And love. She is also the most understanding. She understands me and my struggles, despite being the outcast in the family."
Lance’s eyes were staring at the road in front of him, but his mind flew out of the car.
His sad expression was strange because Madeline thought Lance was very fond of his mother.
So what’s with the sad face?
As the traffic light turned green, Lance pressed the gas and scoffed, "Man, I ruined the mood, didn’t I? Sorry that I talked about my mom when there are only the two of us."
"No, no, it’s fine," Madeline said. "I like that you’re close with your mom. It’s rare nowadays."
Lance glanced at Madeline, and his gaze softened as he felt much more relaxed.
He had no intention of talking about something private with Madeline.
But the conversation flowed like a river, and now there was no stopping point.
"How about you? Are you close with your parents?" Lance asked.
"Well, my dad is out of the picture," Madeline replied vaguely, as telling Lance that her Dad was a gambling addict who drained her income was not a good look on her. "But I love my Mom. She’s an independent woman. She worked as my manager before she fell ill."
"Ill?"
"N—Not life-threatening stuff. She’s just getting older, and she gets sick easily. That’s why she didn’t work anymore," Madeline clarified.
"Is that why your brother was the one cleaning the house?" Lance asked. "When I arrived at your home, your brother was raking the falling leaves."
"Y—Yeah, my mother’s health isn’t very good. She mostly spends her time in her room," Madeline replied.
"I see. Too bad, I wanted to say hi," Lance said. "Maybe next time."
"Haha, yeah," Madeline laughed awkwardly because she knew that ’next time’ would never happen.
She doubted they would still talk like this by the time her mom was discharged from the hospital.
"Then, about you and your brother. Are you two close?" Lance asked.
"We fight a lot, so yes, we’re very close," Madeline chuckled. "How about you and your siblings? Are you close with them?"
"Not really. We have our own activities. We rarely have time to gather around," Lance replied lightly. "It’s been a while since we had fun as siblings."
"Well, at least you have a good relationship with them, right?" Madeline only knew George, and it seemed that George was fairly close to his brother.
Unfortunately, Lance didn’t answer her question. He gave her a mysterious smile while his eyes were still on the road.
Their conversation died after that last question she had for him. So she thought he simply didn’t want to talk about private stuff anymore.

Lance parked his car in front of a high-end restaurant, The Oak Tree.
It was a two-starred Michelin restaurant that was popular within the entertainment circle. But she never had a chance to go in here because you needed to wait months for a reservation.
And to come here for a casual lunch, Madeline guessed that Lance must’ve pulled some strings for it.
"Lance, isn’t it a bit excessive?" Madeline asked. She had forgotten to address Lance as Mr. Grant after their smooth conversation on their way to the restaurant.
"Excessive?" Lance frowned. "What’s excessive about it? We’re just having lunch here."
"Exactly. Isn’t it excessive to have lunch in this expensive restaurant?" Madeline asked. "I heard you have to wait for months for a reservation."
