She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 111
Chapter 111: Chapter 111
"According to our contract..." Madeline repeated Lance’s last sentence. Her heart turned cold instantly because of those words, because now she realized what kind of priority Lance had. "I see..."
Madeline hopped off the desk and stood in front of Lance. "That’s right, Sir. It’s all according to our contract. You want me to be your contractual girlfriend and make me globally infamous for your unknown plan that you don’t want to tell me about," Madeline said. "You are doing a great job, Mr. Grant."
Madeline’s last sentence stabbed his heart. Lance took a deep breath to calm down. He had never been so stimulated before, but Madeline could draw many emotions out of him, so he had to keep reminding himself not to act out using his emotions rather than logic.
"I apologize for all the hate comments you got," Lance said. "But business is business. You’re portraying a villainess in that reality show, and you did it well."
"Hate comments don’t really shock me, honestly," Madeline shrugged. She walked to the sofa and sat on it, crossing her legs leisurely as she stared at Lance. "So you don’t need to apologize for it. I agreed to be globally hated the moment I signed that contract."
Madeline said it lightly, but at the same time, Lance could sense that his choice hurt her. So he kept apologizing, even though it was not something he would usually do.
"I’m sorry, Madeline," Lance repeated. "This is business, and I need to profit from that reality show."
"Strange, Valerie said the money invested in that reality show is just pocket money for you." Madeline chuckled. "I mean, I guess even for businessmen, pocket money is important, right?"
Lance gritted his teeth as Madeline kept refuting his apologies with cold, hard facts that shut him up instantly.
Madeline also knew that Lance was still a businessman at his roots. What he cared the most was about making money, and everything around him was nothing but a profit waiting to be utilized.
And that included Madeline Rose and all the infamy that she brought.
She knew that she should be happy with Lance being a professional.
’But I feel hurt,’ Madeline told herself. ’Why is it so painful that he sacrificed me for money? No, why did I expect more from him in the first place?’
Madeline was also confused by her own feelings.
She told herself that she’d be more than happy to be Lance’s business tool.
But once they faced each other like this, she couldn’t help but want more.
"Well, I guess this is also your answer, right?"
"My answer?"
"Yes." Madeline got up from the sofa and smiled at Lance. "That you just want us to pursue a business partner relationship. You are my benefactor and boss, while I am your contractual girlfriend and business tool, ready to serve you in case you need me."
"But I—" Lance wanted to say he wanted her as his girlfriend. Real one. Just like what he had decided two weeks ago.
But everything took a turn when his big brother, Theodore, used all of his connections and power to suppress Lance, to the point that Lance had to take drastic business measures to save his company from getting swallowed.
And thus, Madeline became the sacrificial lamb.
Her role in Summer Heat Lovers was just too good to pass up, so he approved the first episodes given by Valerie.
Lance went quiet for a while before he said, "It’d be hypocritical of me if I said that I want to be in a real relationship with you."
Madeline scoffed. "Damn right. I will laugh in your face if you dare to say that. Because what you’re doing right now is treating me as a business commodity."
...
"Look, I don’t mind this connection between us. I think it’s easier for me to move on from you, right? Don’t forget to call me for another gig you have for me, Mr. Grant." Madeline smiled mockingly as she turned around and walked to the door. She opened it, but before she left, she said, "And don’t forget to give me Zane’s phone number. I can’t wait to finally call him again."
SLAM!
Deborah jolted when Madeline slammed the door. She looked at her boss’s girlfriend and saw her on the verge of crying.
"M—Miss Rose, what happened?" Deborah asked.
"Nothing," Madeline said as she quickly wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes. "I’m leaving now, Deborah."
"Oh, do you want me to call your driver first?"
"Yes, tell her to pick me up in the lobby as soon as possible. I can’t wait to leave this place."
Madeline ignored Deborah after that. She rushed to the elevator and went down to the lobby.
She ignored everyone’s eyes and entered her car.
"Drive away. Now."
Ada had a lot of questions in her head, but she nodded and drove away immediately.
Little did Madeline know that the moment she drove out of the office, another car drove into the office.
A man with facial features, hair, and eyes similar to Lance’s came out of the car, followed by an elegant lady with red hair, wearing a blue dress. She looked mature, but maybe a bit too mature, because she looked more like his aunt than his lover.
They immediately became the source of attention because everyone in the office knew about Mr. Theodore Grant and his fiancee, Angelica Currie."
Theodore Grant is the heir of the wealthy and noble Grant family and the current CEO of Silver Line Inc., the parent company of Empress Entertainment and others.
Nobody really knew the extent of his reach because The Grants was one of those secretive old money families.
But one thing was certain: his presence was enough to make the whole office panic because they didn’t know what Theodore would do to his little brother, Lance.
They entered the VIP elevator, and Angel hugged her fiance’s arm as she said, "I can’t wait to see Lance. It’s been a while since I saw him in person."
