She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 107
Chapter 107: Chapter 107
"What happened in Bali?" Madeline repeated the question. Then she quickly got defensive: "N—Nothing. There’s nothing wrong in Bali. I was in that reality show created by Valerie and Lance, and I got eliminated, so I went home."
"That’s true. That’s the information that I got from Valerie, too." George hummed for a moment and continued, "But she also said that you and Lance caused a commotion during the final. You even made two men, Lance and Zane, fight while the filming was ongoing."
’Fuck, she told George everything,’ Madeline cursed Valerie, the blabbermouth, who didn’t have an ounce of self-awareness.
"My brother hasn’t told me anything about Zane Eastwood. But judging from your reaction..." George grinned as he leaned towards her, and Madeline quickly scooted back to give them a bit of distance. "...There must be something between you and Zane, huh?"
The more George talked with her, the more she realized she could not hide anything from him. George had the information from both Valerie and Lance, anyway.
So she nodded reluctantly. "I was just doing anything I could to survive in that dumb reality show, including getting entangled with Zane. You should blame your brother for betraying me. He tricked me into joining a reality show set to embarrass me."
"I see..." George’s grin widened as he found this situation very interesting. "I don’t think you understand the scope of this unique situation. Because you don’t know all the risks that Lance has taken to go to Bali despite his tight-packed schedule."
"I never wanted him there anyway," Madeline said. "He ruined everything, including my relationship with Zane."
George didn’t want to inquire further about this love triangle. Judging from Madeline’s expression, it was obvious that she was pissed off by what Lance did.
Which was understandable.
If he were in Madeline’s shoes, he’d stabbed Lance’s eyes with a fork.
"So you won’t ask me about Lance’s feelings?"
...
Madeline said nothing but listened carefully, waiting for George to spill what Lance had in mind.
George shrugged. "I can’t say much. But I just want you to know that you’re more than just a toy for him, at least from my perspective."
"But can you guarantee he will not get bored of me?"
"That... I can’t guarantee," George sighed. "I grew up seeing him surrounded by girls in school. He was only two years older than me, but our dating experiences differed like sky and wormhole."
Madeline scoffed, "Thought so."
"Look, there’s no guarantee he won’t lose interest in you. But you should make the most of the situation. He’s never shown this level of care toward any woman in the past."
"Don’t worry, I know my position. I’ll take advantage of this situation and boost my career before he dumps me," Madeline said boldly.
"Wow, you’re far more prepared than I thought," George snickered. "Be careful not to fall in love with him. It could get really ugly if you did."
Madeline zipped her lips because she knew she had fallen for that bastard. So George’s warning was useless.
’The only thing I can do is to continue with my life,’ Madeline told herself. ’I just need money to pay my dad’s gambling debts, my mom’s medical bills, Nathan’s school and university... and I want a career that can last for a long time. My heart has been crushed, and dead since four years ago, so love has never been part of my plan to begin with.’
"Well, I’m off. The doctor will scold me for slacking off, and I don’t want to donate just to keep my internship here." George got up and took out his phone.
He scrolled through his contacts and pressed the call button.
Madeline gasped when her phone rang inside her bag. She checked the caller ID, and it turned out to be a new number.
"That’s my number," George said before hanging up. "You can call me if you need anything. I will help you. But if you want to go on a date, the answer is no. I’m not a cannibal who’d date my brother’s future wife."
"And I don’t have any interest in you as well." Madeline rolled her eyes but still registered George’s number in her contact list. "Also, can you promise me not to tell Lance about my mother’s condition?"
"I thought you wanted me to tell Lance. So you can get a pity point."
"No, I don’t need his pity or yours," Madeline said. "My relationship with Lance is strictly business. Please don’t involve my mother in this mess."
"If that’s what you want, then I will keep this a secret," George turned around. "Well, see you later, sister-in-law. We will meet again."
"Can you not call me sister-in-law?! I’m not going to be his wife!" Madeline protested as she also got disturbed by how many times George called her that.
"Nope, can’t do that," George replied while walking away. "I have a feeling that you’ll be my sister-in-law, anyway. I’m just making sure that I won’t address you as babe, or Lance will kill me."
"You—!"
George laughed as he entered the hospital corridor, leaving Madeline alone in the garden.
George’s smile faded once he was out of her sight. This was the first time for him to meet with Madeline Rose, yet he could quickly discern that Madeline was indeed a kind and gorgeous woman, albeit prickly, just like a real rose.
He finally understood Lance’s fatal attraction to this woman, even risking his business just to pick her up.
Why? Because he also felt the same.
Something about Madeline was very attractive, be it her personality or her beauty. She drew him closer without even trying.
’But I’m not a cannibal. I won’t betray my brother just for a woman,’ George warned himself. ’It’s better to keep my distance and help her if she needs me. I must get busy so I won’t act stupid or weak like Lance, Theo, or Dad.’
...
’Do they not realize that love is a weakness?’ George pondered.
