Chapter 106: Chapter 106

"Well, you got me." George leaned on the bench, still wearing the same relaxed smile. Her answer surprised him because he never expected her to confront him head-on. "Yes, Nurse Dalton told me everything about your mother’s condition and also how you don’t want her to know about your interviews on TV."

Madeline felt as though her soul was being sucked out of her body. She almost fainted, thinking a dangerous person was lingering around her mother, ready to drop the truth bomb while Madeline wasn’t here.

"Y—You, don’t you dare to tell her about this, alright? She’s already battling cancer. I don’t want her to get stressed out," Madeline said. "As a future doctor, you must be aware that it’s strictly prohibited to leak a patient’s confidential information, right? "

"Sister-in-law, I’m not a monster. I’m not going to hurt your mother just because we have an unfinished problem," George said. "But I’m not a saint either. So why don’t we make a deal first?"

Madeline knew that whatever deal George wanted wouldn’t be beneficial for her. After all, he was Lance’s brother, so he probably had some heinous scheme in his mind.

But she had no choice but to protect her secret, so she asked, "W—What deal?"

George smiled mysteriously and patted the seat next to him. "Sit with me, sister-in-law. Let’s have a chat first."

"Why do you keep addressing me as my sister-in-law? Your brother and I are—"

"Contractual lovers?" George guessed, causing Madeline to be speechless.

At this point, she might have nothing left to hide from this man anymore.

George chuckled. "Sit down, and we can talk. To make you more comfortable, I will allow you to ask questions first."

Madeline was forced to sit next to George. They faced each other, and from this point of view, she finally started noticing a few unique features that differentiated Lance and George.

Lance’s features were more defined, and his eyes were deep, like a predator ready to pounce on his prey.

Lance’s feature exudes that devilish charm suitable to incite all the ladies, including Madeline Rose, who felt a deadly attraction towards him.

But George looked softer and kinder, befitting his future doctoral occupation. Yet he is also more mysterious because she couldn’t read his thoughts behind that smile.

"How much do you know about Lance and me?" Madeline asked carefully, not wanting to reveal unnecessary information.

"Hm, I happened to be Lance’s closest sibling and his most trusted confidant. He allows me to access any information in his company freely, so I already know everything," George replied.

Madeline lowered her head as she realized that she was screwed. "So you know that Lance and I are having this secret relationship..."

"I know he wants you, the infamous Madeline Rose, to be his contractual girlfriend in front of my family," George confirmed. "And I also know that he is pretty serious about it."

"Then, since you’re his confidant, do you know why he wants me, amongst every other woman on earth, to be his contractual girlfriend?" Madeline asked. "Surely, you know, right?"

"I know," George smiled. "It’s a family problem. But you can’t fish this information out of me. You can get this information out of Lance... if he trusts you enough."

As expected, she couldn’t just get this information easily. But judging from George’s refusal, it was obvious that Lance was using her for something possibly dangerous, at least for her career in the entertainment industry.

"But since you don’t have this information yet, that means he doesn’t trust you enough," George said. "But it’s fine. You don’t need to know."

"Why not? This involves me, right?"

"It does, but it won’t affect your career... at least if the plan goes smoothly."

"You’re not making it any better," Madeline sighed. "Then do you know if Lance has a real girlfriend besides me?"

"Oh? So blunt. Are you jealous of him?" George teased. "I didn’t know my sister-in-law could be so possessive of my brother."

"No, not at all," Madeline quickly refuted. "I just want to know because I don’t want any conflict with another woman again. You know what happened between me and Jonathan Hale, right?"

"Fine, should I list the non-celeb or the celeb ones first?" George asked.

"N—Non-celeb ones," Madeline said. She began to get nervous because George’s eyes looked up as if he were trying to remember the list of women that Lance dated.

"Cecilia, Caitlyn, Jada, Juliette, Tya, Rose, uh... Leah..." George’s brows creased. "Sorry, I can only remember the ones from the past three months. He has way too many. I can’t even remember them all."

Madeline went pale instantly.

At this point, she was more worried that she might’ve caught herpes, gonorrhea, or even worse, HIV rather than having to do another catfight because she had unprotected sex with him in Bali.

"Hey, it’s fine. Lance broke up with his last girlfriend an hour before you came to the office for a contract." George smiled. "And he is healthy, if that’s what you want to know."

"Okay, that’s assuring, kind of..." Madeline muttered. "How many times did he change partners in a month?"

"It really depends. He’s easily bored and usually would dump a girlfriend that he dated only after a few days," George said truthfully. "Which is funny since my father is super devoted to my mother, and our first brother is also devoted to his current girlfriend. But Lance is always the Casanova of the family."

Madeline went quiet after that.

She had expected that Lance must’ve been a total douchebag, a heartbreaker with no morals who would grow bored after leading those ladies into his arms.

She felt relieved because George’s statement confirmed that all of Lance’s sweet words from that night were mere pillow talk. So she wouldn’t have too much expectation of him anymore.

But that also made her sad, because he would dump her sooner or later.

George didn’t know what was on Madeline’s mind, but that didn’t matter because he also had a few questions.

"Now, my turn." George pinched Madeline’s chin and forced her to look up so their eyes could meet. Then asked, "Madeline Rose, what did you do in Bali?"
