She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 102
Chapter 102: Chapter 102
"I’m doing just fine," Nathan said as he accepted the money. He glanced at the empty plate in front of Madeline and sighed.
He picked up the plate and filled it with the lasagna he had made.
He also took a cola out of the fridge for her.
"You should eat, sis. You’ve been on a long flight, right?" Nathan asked. "Well, I don’t know. I have never flown anywhere before... or gone on any trip. But I checked on the internet and found that Bali to Los Angeles is a full-day flight."
Madeline smiled bitterly. Again, she felt guilty because Nathan had never gone on a trip.
Madeline always traveled everywhere for her job as a child singer and actress, while Nathan mostly stayed with a babysitter at home.
Madeline wanted to bring him somewhere for a trip. He was still in school and probably wouldn’t be suitable for them to go anywhere, while she was still very much hated by the whole country.
She didn’t want Nathan to see how she got recognized and harassed sometimes.
’Maybe we should go somewhere where I am less hated. Maybe to Europe?’ Madeline wondered while staring at Nathan. ’But for now... let’s just focus on work.’
Madeline grabbed Nathan’s plate and put the lasagna on it. She also got up and took the cola from the fridge, just like Nathan did to her.
"Okay, let’s have dinner together." Madeline smiled.
Nathan was astonished. He quickly lowered his head and fiddled with his food.
They hardly ever had dinner together and rarely engaged in a civil conversation because most of the time, they would always end up fighting.
Madeline looked at her brother, who didn’t eat his food, and teased him, "Do you need me to feed you? I remember feeding you when you were a baby."
"N—No need!" Nathan quickly ate the lasagna as he was grossed by the idea of being fed by her.
Madeline chuckled. They had their dinner in peace, and once they were done, Nathan finally had the courage to ask.,
"S—So, how’s your filming in Bali? When can I watch the reality show?"
"It’s better if you don’t," Madeline replied. "I don’t want you to get mad at me. But I have to do everything to survive in a reality show since there’s a risk of elimination."
"Oh..." Nathan paused for a moment and said, "I still want to watch. It’s been a while since you’ve been on TV except for those interviews."
"Well, if you insist, I’ll tell you later..." Madeline sighed. "Look, I’m so sorry I’m not a good sister to you, Nathan. But this is all I can do to bring us food on the table. I’ve been working in showbiz since I was young."
"Tell me if you ever get bullied by any of your friends because of my job. I will go there and teach them a lesson."
Nathan scoffed. "Sis, I’m already taller than you. What can you even do against them?"
"W—Well, I can at least fight their parents!"
Nathan chuckled, "No, it’s fine. I can handle them."
"So you did get bullied..."
"Not really, but they’re asking too many questions about you. I don’t like it," Nathan said. Though it was partly a lie, there were indeed a few people who tried to bully him out of it, calling his sister a slut or a skank.
Nathan wanted to beat up those bullies, but that would put him in detention, and Madeline would be called to his school for it since his father ran away and his mother was in the hospital.
The last thing Nathan wanted was for people in his school to bully his sister.
Madeline was and has always been his admirable and beloved big sister. He felt obliged to protect her through their difficult situation.
However, that also meant he often got irritable at home because he was frustrated that Madeline didn’t even realize how much Nathan was enduring at school.
Madeline knew how cruel high school kids could be. She was also bullied when she was still in middle school because she was often absent.
The pressure was enough for her to request homeschooling during high school.
"Nathan, I don’t know how to make up for my mistakes. I know that you suffered the most in this family..." Madeline said. She reached for Nathan’s hand, which made the teenager antsy because he never liked physical touch, not even from his family. "But I promise I will be very popular, so you won’t be ashamed of being my brother."
Nathan quickly pulled his hand and said, "Yeah, whatever. You don’t need to act all serious about it. I’m doing just fine."
He got up and quickly cleaned the table, as he didn’t want to have too much of this heart-to-heart talk with Madeline.
Madeline watched him go back and forth from the dining table to the kitchen sink and then said, "I—I’m going to play games in my room. Go take a rest or something."
Slam!
Nathan sat on his bed, as he could not control this joy in his heart.
Though he disliked showing his emotions, he was happy that their sibling relationship would improve over time.
"I just have to ensure that Maddy doesn’t get involved with a bad man again. I don’t want her to get hurt..."
Nathan could still clearly remember how his sister broke down when the news came out that Jonathan Hale was married and already had a child.
Never in his life had he ever been so heartbroken as well, because he actually admired his sister a lot. So he didn’t want that heartbreak to repeat itself.
*
Madeline stared at Nathan’s door, and her smile bloomed.
"My baby brother is always so cute..." Madeline murmured. She had wanted to say that for a while, but Nathan wasn’t the type who’d go cuddly and lovey-dovey to his sister.
However, talking with Nathan boosted Madeline’s motivation because, now that her relationship with Nathan was getting better, she wanted to give her best for her brother.
"Watch me, baby brother. I will make you proud of me again."
